About this house rental
Highest reviewed out of over 2000 options in the roaring fork valley because I work hard to make it a DANG THOUGHTFUL place to stay :)
No single family is the same; our bedrooms are highly customizable to fit yours just right.
Three Kings & a Queen plus Abundant Twins — the rooms are unusually adaptable.
The primary suite is home to a single well appointed King. Or, we can add a twin or two to that King and you’ll still have room to spare, or … twins for up to 4.
Two guest en-suites can each accommodate a King, a King + Twin, or 3 Twins each.
The Bunk Room is most comfortable with two folks — a queen bed below for couple or a single below and single twin up above. A dedicated half-bath is just steps away.
Up above the common area is a classic ski-home sleeping loft. There is always one twin ready to go, but give the word and a second will be provided. A dedicated half bath is down a half flight of stairs.
Sound complicated? I’d be delighted to help you come up with the best sleeping arraignments that take into account mobility issues, family dynamics, and the ever particular needs of your guests.
This unique home with a Killer View flexes its sleepyhead to fit yours.
Not slope side, but a much better value, nearly as convenient .... and have you ever sat on a deck in the afternoon sunshine with just a t-shirt even though it's only 19F outside? One of only 21 homes in all of Snowmass with a DIRECT southern exposure, the winter sun will convert you to a true believer!
The included parking passes (2 per day) gets you to within 50 feet of the snow after a 6-10 minute drive, or take the shuttle after short five minute walk — my 72 year old dad does it regularly; my 2 year old niece does not! (yet).
Compared to a cramped condo, there is plenty of space and well built walls for everyone to spread out when you need some me time, yet our large dining and living room accommodates the whole bunch with a fire, a movie, or one of our ample board games and puzzles (over 30!).
Our multigenerational family has lived and/or vacationed here for over five decades and we've taken notice on how to optimize our home for a relaxing **vacation** for ourselves and importantly, our guests.
There will surely be things broken. It is a home. On a literal mountain. Let me know what needs attention and while it might not be fixed before you head home, future families will appreciate it. Thank you.
Have you asked other rentals about humidifiers? We have robust, but VERY QUITE, evaporative humidifiers in every room — without a solid supply of moisture overnight, you’ll feel a bit off in the morning even if you are a tee-totaler.
We've honed in on the details like massive pasta pots, extra breakfast griddles, multiple knife sets, an ultra-powerful water boiler element, slow-cookers, and by special request .... every single type of coffee maker in existence. You coffee folks are picky!
Your extended family and friends will be able to make memories and a hearty meal to keep well nourished as you explore the wilderness and the world-class resort (really, don't eat every meal in, there is a wonderful Ruby Red Hazelnut Encrusted Trout waiting for you at the Artisan in the Stonebridge — free shuttle with reservation.)
I don't like a cold shower, and for the last 10 years, I haven't had a single guest tell me they've had one either (if you manage — do let me know!!). We've upgraded the water heaters so that everyone get's a good hot rinse!
Safety is important and there is nothing worse than a smoke or CO detector out at midnight during one of your precious vacation days. We've gone beyond code and added a 10-year lithium battery CO/Smoke detector to every room so that you can sleep thru the night without worry or battery chirps.
Our hot tub is a lovely soak with it's own great view after a day hiking or skiing.
Sound travels great distances from a mountain top.
— Yodelers not welcome! —
($59 credit if you include 'yodelers not welcome' in a message to me. Thanks for reading!)
Take in the hot tub and take in the Milky Way view, but keep it quite so that the folks a mile down the hill without the view won't get too jealous of you up there with your friends and family.
Our home, like all of Snowmass Village, is just on the edge of the wilderness — speak softly so you don't wake the bears or startle the elk. Relax, rest, and bring the full force of your restored energy into the mountains the next day!
As with many other homes and all condominiums, our hot tub closes down for the night at 9PM to ensure everyone else who lives nearby, or is on a vacation like yourself, gets the sound sleep they need for the mountains tomorrow.
Early risers get the best snow and the emptiest trails! (I'm working on this myself — not judging!)

You don't have to pay Aspen Extreme prices to spend a week in Aspen-Snowmass.
Sure, you could rent one of the other homes on our street for almost twice as much — but you've lucked out and stumbled upon our killer big mountain view, so save those bucks for a new pair of ski boots — we highly recommend Jack Rafferty — and spend a minute reading our affordable tale.
A Snowmass Pioneer, my grandfather paid cash for a small plot of land at the end of a jeep road back in 1968 and built himself a cabin overlooking the future town of Snowmass Village. In the 1980s, concerned that those working in the valley were no longer able to afford to live in the valley, he dedicated the entirety of his retirement to organizing what is now the crown jewel of the Aspen/Snowmass community: the Affordable Employee Housing Program.
In 2005, with the roof leaking, the single-pane windows drafty, and the property taxes mounting on our grandfather's lucky strike, we sold the homestead and set our sights on a seldom-used, modern, comfortable home with a remarkable view just one ridge west.
In 2010, after five years of my family allowing a property management company to hawk our home (and somehow still owing them money at the end of the month), I decided to move out to the mountains and try my hand at it myself.
It turns out that cutting cutting out the commission, upgrading the amenities, and flashing a friendly smile works wonders.
Four years ago we dug out the grass turf and revegetated with native plants, doing our part to keep the valley as it was in 1968 when my grandfather took a jeep ride in search of paradise and our long-term goal is a solar powered home as we do our part to keep the snow around.
I hope you are able to make it out this winter. Think snow, and I'll see you on the slopes!

Not a bad option for skiing.

Cody is such a nice house holder. We all have a very good memory in Snowmass and Aspen. It is so close to Snowmass and buttermilk ski resort. And it is also very convenient to visit Aspen. We hope to visit here next time!

This house was perfect for our weekend trip to snowmass. Not to mention it was by far the most clean Vrbo I have stayed at! I can not wait to go back! Thank you again Cody!
2.0
We were monitored by video surveillance outside as well as decibel monitored during our trip. We had
constant contact from the host -- via text, VRBO message and him contacting VRBO directly -- and he came over to the house to greet us, fix issues, and then was there again when we got back home. This was extremely stressful for our whole group, especially myself, as I was receiving these elaborate and aggressive messages when I woke up in the morning, during the day as I was trying to ski and at night when we were just looking to relax and have a good time. We were told we were violating many policies of the town, but we did not receive any violations.
This was my first VRBO experience.
Positively, the kitchen had all of the bells and whistles for us to be able to cook for our 14 people and that was certainly the most pleasant part of our trip. There were games and the ability to stream via the upstairs TV. The hot tub was spacious and clean. And the fireplace was super cozy for our group.
When we arrived we were told that the property manager would meet us there to go through the specifics of the home. I’ve never had a host greet us, and he took us through the house which met our needs. However, during this time, he did not relay that he would be monitoring our comings and goings
via outside video surveillance and had installed decibel meters above the hot tub to monitor our noise.
Throughout the weekend I had a myriad of condescending, elaborate text messages as well as messages sent in the VRBO app. If you want to have music on at all outside or have a conversation in a hot tub with your guests, this place
is probably not for you.
We had the police called on us, either from one of the neighbors who were poking around and looking at us while we were in the hot tub or by the host himself, who sent us this message 30 mins prior to the police arriving prior to 10pm when noise ordinances go into place – HOST: “As noted before, take note of the noise sensor – it will flash when the average volume exceeds 68db for 5 minutes. This is the level that
has been determined is the max level to not be disruptive on the neighborhood. It is currently nearing 80.” There was no note before of a decibel meter and definitely nothing that I would have been willing to sign in a VRBO rental. Note that 60 is considered a normal convo and 80 is a busy restaurant, it wasn't even 10pm. This was just one day.

We had a great time in Aspen. This house is about a 5min drive from the Snowmass mountains. We never attempted to take the shuttle as it would have required walking with all of our ski gear. We loved the open concept layout of the main floor that allowed for excellent family time. The dining table comfortably seated 12 people. The kitchen is incredibly well stocked, which we appreciated. The stove was a bit tricky to use, but we managed. Cody, was very responsive to our needs. We had some issues come up with the hot tub and the washer/dryer. Cody ensured the hot tub was addressed immediately and tried to address the dryer. While that was unsuccessful, thankfully, there are three sets of washer/dryers in the house, so we just used the other two sets that were working just fine. Sleeping arrangements were comfortable, with the exception of the top bunk, which was way too close to the ceiling. Hot water was in abundance for our showers, which we all appreciated! Our flight was canceled and we ended up arriving one day later than anticipated. Cody was gracious in offering us to stay an extra day free of charge. Overall, we would recommend this house (and Cody) to others. We had a wonderful time!!

Family of 5, we had a tremendous week at this house in Snowmass. Cody was a wonderful and accommodating host. The house was spotlessly clean, organized and abundantly stocked - linens, kitchen, games, etc. - very homey feel. We enjoyed working our way through the album library. Highly recommend.

Awesome in Every Way
I have rented houses for 30 years. This whole experience was handled at the highest levels. Cody is one of the most customer centric host I have ever encountered. His communications both way before the trip and during were always fast, friendly, knowledgeable and geared towards insuring our party had a wonderful experience. The House was extremely comfortable, easy to live in and enjoy for our entire party. Many homes we have rented were extraordinary architecturally, but were empty...You had to arrive, figure out what you needed to make your stay enjoyable, then go in search...The minute we walked in the door, we knew this house was fully stocked in every thoughtful way. Killer views! We will definitely come back.

Absolutely wonderful experience! The home and the home owner were great!
I have never stayed anywhere that was so well thought out. It had everything we could ever need in the kitchen. All the linens you could possibly need. It is a wonderful home with plenty of room to spread out. There were 9 of us for the week. I will absolutely stay here again if I come back to this area. The home owner couldn’t have been any better.

Highly Recommend for a Trip
This vacation home is exactly as stated in the description. Amazing location with truly breathtaking views of the Snowmass mountains from almost every room. As promised there was easy access to Snowmass village by car or shuttle. A bit dated but fully stocked with all the essentials listed (humidifiers were excellent) and then some. The property manager, Cody, is very accessible and so easy to deal with. Ending the day with a soak in the hot tub, a classic vinyl album, an 80’s ski flick and a board game were a few of the highlights.

Nice location …. New noise ordinances
This property is good for a group who wants to really chill. There are noise ordinances now in place and we couldn’t enjoy the hot tub after 9p…. And had to be very very quiet when we did use it. The host was amazing.

Family Ski Trip
We had 12 of us, 6 adults and 6 kids from 5 to 13. Great place to stay and Cody took good care of us. Very accommodating. Arranged beds to meet our needs. Plenty of room and nice big dinning room table to seat all of us. Snowed 4 days in a row and driveway cleared each time. Parking is easy just off the road. Kitchen with plenty of cooking and eating dishes. Kids enjoyed the hot tube at night. The place is in good shape. Easy checkout without a bunch of preclean requirements. We hope to rent this place again in the future.

Can’t wait to go back
The host communicated with me through out the entire process. The house was beautiful and well stocked with everything we would need to cook a huge Thanksgiving meal. There was plenty of room for everyone and we had a large group of about 14. Even though it was a holiday the host was there to answer any questions that we had. I look forward to renting from him again soon.

Great family gathering in the mountains!!
We had an excellent time at this property. The house was exactly what we expected and maybe more. The host was awesome and we had everything we needed for an enjoyable trip. There were so many extras within the house it was amazing. The view was amazing, the fireplace was amazing. The beds were the best and the kitchen was well stocked. I could go on and on but challenge people to have as good of a family gathering as we did. Memorable time!!

Our party of 9 (mom’s and adult daughters) visited Snowmass in September. This house was perfect! So many ways to arrange the sleeping quarters and every possible amenity you could think of. The property owner was so helpful and very kind. Highly recommend!!

Awesome place with a great host!
A group of 8 of us stayed here for 3 days earlier this month. It was a great experience and we are so glad we chose to stay here at Cody's place. Here's why we enjoyed it so much.
1. Snowmass is the ideal location to stay. It's just 15 minutes to Aspen, but staying here gets you out of the crowds and you get to enjoy the relaxing wide open feel of Snowmass. It's just very relaxing and very beautiful.
2. The house is in a great location with an awesome view.
3. It's big with lots of rooms and various groups can have some privacy while you're there.
4. The house is very well equipped for large groups. Big dining table. Big living area. Nice kitchen. Big TV. Tons of games. There's even a record player with a big choice of vinyl to play.
5. Finally Cody is a great host. Very thoughtful. He was communicating with us well ahead of the trip about exactly how we wanted the bedrooms configured. He can setup different configurations of beds based on your needs. He's very thoughtful and very on top of everything.
We loved it and next time we head over to Aspen we'll probably stay there again! Highly recommended.

Great host, house and location!
The house was fantastic with wonderful views of the mountains. Close to anything we’d need for our stay. We were in for a men’s lacrosse tournament and the host was fantastic at accommodating our team by configuring rooms so everyone had a bed. He was prompt with responses to any questions and when we asked about throwing out trash or putting sheets/towels in laundry he said that the cleaning crew would handle it all. Only downside is that we didn’t have more time to stay in Snowmass.

Amazing views and great host!
Our family of five had plenty of room to spread out in this spacious home. Our teenagers and tween loved having spaces of their own. The views from the decks are amazing. The kitchen has everything you might need or want! The home is on a nice quiet street, but it was easy and fast to get to Snowmass Village. The host was incredibly friendly and responsive to all my questions, even those having to do with the area and activities and not the house. We would definitely stay here again.

Amazing property in a perfect location! Great home for a large family in summer or winter.
Great property with amazing views and plenty of space for the whole family. Would recommend to anyone that wants to be close to the mountain in a secluded neighborhood. Thanks Cody!

First I would like to thank Cody for being such an incredible host since day one! He gave us tips on where to ski, where to rent the skiing equipment, gave us directions on how to move throughout Aspen, buy groceries and even helped us get two parking spots right at the Gondola of the Snowmass Mountain! Always friendly and readily available, thank you Cody!Cody's place made our trip without a doubt the best family skiing trip experience possible. The house can easily accommodate all party members with a variety of bed options for each room, the kitchen is fully equipped for any type of cooking, there's an endless amount of boardgames and much more. On top of that, the house was spotless, the view to the Snowmass mountain was breathtaking and there's a Jacuzzi that fits up to 6 people just at the side of the balcony! The house is about 5-10min away from the Snowmass Mall and Gondola by car, and about 3min away from the first bus station that can take you to any mountain in a matter of minutes. But, in our opinion, Snowmass was by far the best mountain for beginner/intermediate skiers and snowboarders. We even started joking around saying Snowmass is the Disneyland of skiing! The biggest and most fun mountain we've ever skied on.A family trip to remember and we'll definitely be coming back. We highly recommend Cody's place for the full Snowmass/Aspen Skiing experience!

Fabulous Family Stay for Spring Break!
Where to begin?! There are VRBO properties in which you know you are staying in a rental house. There are others, which are few, in which you feel the owner is sharing his home with you. This is the case for this property in every way. The owner/manager, Cody is the most accommodating VRBO owner we've had. There isn't anything he wouldn't try to help us with. The house is easy to find, and just off of the main road. We ranged in age of 67-4. As a result of the young kids, we did not use the village bus line, but it would have been easy. The owner provided parking passes for the lots right by the mountain. THEY WERE AMAZING! It was quick and easy drive up, easy to park, and about 50 feet to the mountain. You could literally ski to the street and walk a few feet to the car. It made life so easy for us. Easy to come and go too. The house was great. The main floor was very open and fun to hang out in with a large family. The dining table was great, and open to the great living area, with gas fireplace, and easy access to several decks and a fantastic hottub. The views from every window are out of this world. The owner set up bed configurations however we wanted. Plenty of bathroom space with 3 full and 2 1/2 baths. Kitchen was very functional with great appliances, high quality pots and pans, and well stocked along with all spices, condiments etc. We really dont have anything negative to say about the house, the beds, the cleanliness, all great. The lights were a bit quirky, but the owner was great at guiding through the issues. We would stay here again and again and highly recommend it.

We had a wonderful week here. Our hosts were amazingly hospitable and the property was perfectly located and set up wonderfully. It has been the best home rental experience I have ever had.

Perfect ski base
We loved the house! The kitchen had everything we needed and with Covid that’s a must. Cody was super easy to work with and accommodating which we so appreciated. Sat in the brand new hot tub everynight and enjoyed his games. Thank you!

Unforgettable Trip and would love to come back
If I could give this property higher stars, I would. Everything that I had read from previous reviews was right on. The house is lovely with an upstairs master and master bath. I could wake up and look out my window at the beautiful snowmass mountain. The bedroom space downstairs fit our family perfectly. From the turntable to the hot tub to the well equipped kitchen, all of our needs were met and surpassed. The location is great. Just 5 minutes to Snowmass and easy access to other Aspen mountains. Thank you Cody to you and our family for helping us to create lifetime memories.

Extraordinary Aspen/Snowmass Skiing Experience!
First I would like to thank Cody for being such an incredible host since day one! He gave us tips on where to ski, where to rent the skiing equipment, gave us directions on how to move throughout Aspen, buy groceries and even helped us get two parking spots right at the Gondola of the Snowmass Mountain! Always friendly and readily available, thank you Cody!
Cody's place made our trip without a doubt the best family skiing trip experience possible.
The biggest and most fun mountain we've ever skied on.
A family trip to remember and we'll definitely be coming back. We highly recommend Cody's place for the full Snowmass/Aspen Skiing experience!

Pictures don’t do this home justice— beautiful views, plenty of space, everything you need
Our family just finished a week stay at this large home in picturesque and serene Snowmass Village, just about 7 miles (20 minutes drive) away from Aspen. We visited during the Coronavirus pandemic so the thoughtful details this home included like a well-stocked kitchen (truly every gadget and supply you could ever imagine needing); three private balconies; hot tub; grill; outdoor fire pit off the master bedroom; tons of board games; XBOX 360; and vintage records to chill out listening to at night made it so simple to relax and live comfortably at home. It’s a peaceful quiet escape here in Snowmass.
Our family did a lot of “socially distanced” activities like hiking (Crater Lake was our favorite, make sure to secure a permit ASAP before your date sells out— you can’t go without a permit right now); fishing at the top of Snowmass (bring your own poles and bait); frisbee golf at both Aspen and Snowmass mountaintops (bring your own frisbees); bike riding on the Rio Grande Trail (Park at Harry Stein Park (Cemetary and Red Butte Road, go early to get a parking space; we brought our bikes from home); we ate lunch twice from Big Wrap in downtown Aspen (SOOO good!!) and had picnics near John Denver Sanctuary and at the Grottos. If we had more time, I would have loved to rent SUPs for the North Star Nature Preserve.
Thank you Cody and the Truscott Family for sharing your beautiful family home with us and giving my family the chance to enjoy an incredible vacation together.

Spring Break 2020 (a/k/a Social Distancing)
Our family of 5 checked into this property approximately an hour before the world shut down for the COVID-19 pandemic. Suffice to say, we spent a lot of time in the house, and we cannot say enough good things about the house or about the owners who were so gracious and allowed us to shelter in place in their amazing home. The layout of the house is great for a family. Our three kids bunked downstairs and we had our own space in the master upstairs. The beds are very comfortable and all of the linens were very nice. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need and then some, including a coffee grinder, a rice cooker and a carbonated drink maker. There were enough board games to entertain us for a month and the entertainment options are limitless with Amazon Prime, Netflix and a good cable and movie selection. More importantly, the views are amazing and the location is perfect. About a 7 minute drive to the top of the mountain and about a 5 minute drive to the main road to Woody Creek and Aspen. The snowmass grocery store is also about a 5 minute drive. In sum, the house was great. We did not want to leave and will definitely book it again.

Great spot!
3 colleagues rented this place and it was perfect for us. Very well stocked, great kitchen, hot tub on the deck. Pretty easy to get around via shuttle without a rental car if you’re able bodied. Cody was awesome to work with - sooo responsive and thoughtful. Highly recommend.

Great place to stay in Snowmass
Cody was great to work with, and we enjoyed this family home. A group of 8 or so rent a place every year at various resorts. The house had ample room for our group to fix meals, eat at the table and watch the Super Bowl. Thew new of Snowmass is stunning at sunrise and sunset.

Most well stocked home on VRBO--Excellent Stay
First of all, Cody is hands down the nicest, and most responsive VRBO owner I've ever met. He is a great communicator and very responsive--he's there if you have any questions but is not overbearing or intrusive during your visit. The house is fabulous. Great location, very close to Snowmass and Buttermilk and an easy drive to Aspen. You are literally 5-7 minutes from parking at Snowmass Mountain resort. The house is also easily accessible during big snows.
Here are the things we most appreciated about the house that really set it apart:
(1) Three washers, three dryers. Seriously.
(2) Very comfortable beds, extra pillows, down comforters--SO nice
(3) Nice towels and enough for 20 people
(4) Spacious house with several kings, bunks, twins--everyone could spread out
(5) Huge dining area for big family/group meals
(6) Great hot tub with easy to use instructions--and amazing views
(7) Spacious living room with great TV, fireplace that was easy to use
(8) A collection of 20 or more board games (some brand new and unopened). We had a blast playing games we hadn't played in years and there was something for every age--the Lite Bright was a huge hit. Not to mention a large and varied vinyl collection and a turntable which my husband loved.
(9) Most importantly the most well stocked kitchen I have ever seen in a rental. You can actually cook real meals in this house with top notch, new appliances. There is every pan, every tool, and every utensil you could possibly need. It actually became a game to see if we could need something this kitchen didn't have--we quit when I needed baker's twine for my herb bundle and the kitchen ACTUALLY HAD BAKERS TWINE. There are 5 cookie sheets.... 5! Seriously, its a great kitchen. I was able to cook real meals for a group of 10.
Probably one of the best houses I've encountered on VRBO. Thanks Cody--we had a fabulous time in your home.

Spoiled in Snowmass!
I want to thank Cody for making our family vacation such an incredible and memorable experience! This awesome vacation home made our time together so special. Cody went above and beyond to make sure that every detail was taken care of. From the moment we walked in until the time we left, we truly felt spoiled. The home was very clean, comfortable and cozy. The kitchen was stocked with everything that we needed to prepare a wonderful Christmas dinner. We especially enjoyed our time around the dining table, which was large enough to accommodate everyone---while dining, as well as, playing games or family chit chatting. Cody even brought us a Christmas tree with all of the trimmings and decorations, so we got to spend time together decorating the tree. The gorgeous fire place in the den kept everyone warm and toasty during family game nights. Our views from the wall of windows were breathtaking, overlooking snow covered mountains as far as we could see. It looked just like an old fashioned Christmas card. The hot tub on the deck was just what we needed at the end of ski days to unwind and relax. Everything was top notch; linens, towels, appliances, kitchen utensils, bath supplies, games, tools, etc. etc, etc.
This is the first time that I have ever been so inspired to write a review on VRBO. I was moved to do so, because the house was so beautiful and the owner was most incredible. I 100% recommend this home to anyone wanting to have an outstanding experience in the Snowmass area!

Perfect for large groups
The owner was very responsive from the time of booking, prior to our arrival, during our stay and through checkout. This home is wonderful for large groups. There is plenty of space to spread out and the beds are convertible if each person would like their own bed. The kitchen is well stocked with all the cooking utensils you would need (we cooked a large Thanksgiving meal here). There are multiple washers and dryers to accommodate a large group staying a while and it's conveniently located in Snowmass. I'd wouldn't be surprised if my group comes back year after year!
