About this house rental
Enjoy solitude, peace and breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and the ancient volcanic chain of the Seven Sisters from the hilltop of Bear Creek Ranch. Begin your retreat with a 3 mile drive along a red rock, winding road alongside Los Osos Creek, passing many a coast live Oak, Feijoa orchards, roaming Texas longhorns and wandering horses as you ascend the mountain to this exclusive getaway in the clouds.
The spectacular views and unique design of the home is a perfect getaway for a reunion, retreat, or family vacation.
Enter the contemporary 5 bedroom, over 4000 square foot Santa Fe style home with an eclectic private global art collection, antique and modern furniture, spacious rooms, numerous decks with views of the surrounding rolling hills, Pacific Ocean and ranch; professional kitchen stove, billiards table, outdoor infinity pool, jacuzzi, welcoming fireplace stocked with wood and find a basket of organic ranch grown fruits and vegetables in season awaiting your use.
The house itself boasts a wide variety of activities from a game of pool down the mysterious winding staircase in the wine cellar; a swim in the infinity pool overlooking the rolling central coast hills and Morro Rock in the Pacific Ocean or moments of relaxation in the jacuzzi, a game of basketball outside, a stroll around the surrounding hilltops, stargazing with telescope, a chance to read a book from the personal library or a warm evening by the fire.
There is Wi-Fi, hard line telephone for local calls and good cellular connections, should the need for outside connections arise, and there is a fully equipped laundry room, dishwasher, and a professional kitchen.
The kitchen itself is fully equipped with a professional 5 burner plus griddle and double oven propane Wolf stove, double sink, spacious refrigerator, freezer, and is perfect for those who love to cook.
The Bedrooms:
The master bedroom: this spacious suite features a stunning private bathroom with dramatic shower views overlooking the seven sisters and ranch valley, private deck and California king sized bed, and private access to another rooftop deck and extra room.
The lower and upper guest rooms; Coast Live Oak and Manzanita both feature a private bathroom, outdoor balconies, California Kings, and views to swimming pool and to the Pacific Ocean.
The smaller bedrooms; Sage with a queen bed, and Bay with twins each have French doors to the outdoors and share a bathroom.
The Ranch:
The 650 acre ranch upon which skyhouse is located, is situated between the Pacific Ocean of Los Osos and San Luis Obispo, (a 30 min. drive from SLO and a 20 minute drive from Los Osos) in the Irish foothills at the very end of Clark Valley road. The ranch is a rugged, oak covered, hilly piece of land, with pockets (approximately 14 acres) of organic sub-tropical fruit orchards and fields (including feijoas, passion fruit, African horned melons, pepino melons, persimmons, Asian pears) and all organic unusual vegetable varieties including blue potatoes, tomatillos, blue and green corn, yacon and heirloom tomatoes. There are free roaming horses and Texas Longhorns and plenty of wildlife including: red-tail hawk, quail, owl, bobcat, coyote, raccoon, fox, wild boar, deer, the illusive mountain lion and the very occasional black bear.
Activities:
While the biggest lure of Sky House is to relax in its serene surrounding with the awe-inspiring views, activities on the ranch include self- guided hikes along the 650 acre piece of land ranging from creek walks to hikes up to a manzanita lined ridge and self-guided tours of the organic farm with walks in the various orchards and fields. Please give a call during your stay to see if anyone has time to give a tour, or can manage a few visitors in the field during work hours, and possibly show you around elsewhere. (Tours are donation based, we recommend $5 per person)
Outside the ranch, activities in the central coast range from visits to the nearby beautiful state park of Montana de Oro (Los Osos), surfing in many a destination along the Pacific ocean (we can guide you as to where the surf in good and less trafficked), wine tasting amongst the rough 200 or so wineries of the area, elephant seal gazing in San Simeon, and tours of Hearst Castle, whalewatching off Morro Bay harbor, visits to the local farmers markets where we may be selling our own organic produce, site-seeing in the local beach towns of Los Osos, Morro Bay, and Cayucos and tours to San Luis Obispo with good dining in all of the above mentioned towns (we will gladly give recommendations).

What a house! Easily one of the nicest properties my friends and I have stayed at. Perfect for our Thanksgiving. The living area and kitchen have everything you need, the pool and spa are gorgeous with views of Morro Bay and the surrounding valley. Would love to return one day!

Our family had such a wonderful vacation here. The house is amazing, spacious and comfortable. The views are incredible with a panorama from Montana De Oro and Morro Bay up the Los Osos Valley to SLO. The pool and spa are so relaxing and the kitchen is remarkably well-equipped with everything you need including spices and condiments. There's a lot of things to do in the area but there were days we just wanted to relax and enjoy the beauty of the home.
Amanda is terrific host and we hope to return next year.

We were so impressed with the views. The home is comfortable and luxurious. A few too many stairs for our older visitors, but we loved all the spaces - indoor and outdoor. We very much enjoyed our stay.

Fantastic
We travel together for a week every year, we had the best time here, a little beach, a little adventure, great food and great friends that are really more of a family. The house couldn’t be any better and the view is to die for. Most definitely would come back If the opportunity arises. Great communication with host, thanks Amanda.

Amazing getaway!
Wow! This property was everything we imagined it would be and more! The pool was warm and wonderful, the rooms were big and spacious, the kitchen was well-stocked....I could go on and on! There were several small families on our trip coming together from all over. We loved the big dining table for our dinners together and enjoyed eating outside on the back patio or by the pool for lunch. It's a long and bumpy road to the top, but it was well worth the drive to have views like we did! We hope we can come back regularly! :)

Christmas at the SkyHouse
Breathtaking 365 degree views from this unique, comfortable home in the clouds. Our family gathering of 7 from across the country had a wonderful, relaxing time. It rained a lot, but we planned on cooking, and the large, beautiful kitchen made that easy. We hiked parts of the property, ventured to a local dog-friendly beach and enjoyed the toasty infinity pool and spa.
Amanda, our host, was fantastic.
Such wonderful memories!

A Dream Holiday
Our week at the Skyhouse was unparalleled in every way. The house on the very top of the mountain was absolutely remarkable and truly beautiful and the view of the ocean, Morro Rock, the countryside, and the hills were breathtaking. The kitchen was fully stocked with staples and fully-equipped. The beds were very comfortable, the two dining room tables large and lovely and could accommodate all of us. (9 people)....not to mention the infinity pool, completely beyond description. It was an absolute dream. The fog rolling in at night was cinematic. We saw little foxes and beautiful birds and did not want to leave. Our family has rented many vacation houses over the years and the Skyhouse was vastly superior and outstanding in every way. We will return.

Amazing house!
This is a fantastic place to stay! The house had more than enough space for my group of 11 family members and we fully took advantage of all the amenities this home has to offer - pool, hot tub, ping pong, billiards, massage chair, grill. It provided a wonderful atmosphere for group dinners and games. You’ll need to contend with a winding dirt road to get there but trust me, the house and the views are worth it!

The perfect place for us to escape the madness of 2020. The hilltop location is fantastic and completely private. The house is well equipped and even with six of us didn't feel crowded. Great pool and hot tub. Plenty of places to sit outside and enjoy the amazing sunrise and sunset. Nice kitchen. Everything worked (sadly not the case with some rentals). Easy folks to deal with, good communication.Lots of level changes so not a good place for anybody with mobility issues. I highly reccomend Skyhouse.

Wonderful Getaway for a Staycation!
We had four families that got together at Skyhouse for a mini vacation (isolation vacation because of Covid 19). Such an incredible property from the beautiful pool to the sunrises and sunsets and the views of Morro Bay and surrounding hills! Very well appointed home with everything that we needed for our vacation. Our college students were able to do all of their online classes as well as the adults could handle any work issues remotely which was important during our stay. We enjoyed the cows, rabbits, foxes, horses and all of the wildlife around the property while on bike rides and hikes. The house is unique in that the bedrooms allowed for privacy and the living spaces were so comfortable and easy to hang out and have dinner together. The kitchen was well stocked and easy to store plenty of food in the two refridgerators and pantries. The views were truly stunning through all of the big glass windows. Great central location close to SLO, Morro Bay and Avila Beach yet felt very private. We can't wait to visit again! Thank you for sharing your property with us!

Hard to say goodbye
We immediately fell in love with this house. It was so well thought out and just felt like home right away. Stunning views, a fun pool, and a great family area make the Skyhouse simply perfect. We had such a great time here that it was very hard to leave. The kids loved the little hidden cubby and there was just so much space for quiet time throughout the house. We look forward to our next visit!!!

A wonderful haven with amazing stargazing!
We had a wonderful stay at the Skyhouse in Los Osos. It's isolated but totally worth the drive. The 360 views from the house were breathtaking in the morning, afternoon, and even at night. The stargazing from the pool area is absolutely stunning. The house has many cozy spaces, is very comfortable, and the kitchen is well-stocked with all of the cooking tools you'll need. You can really tell that the owners put a lot of love into their home. Amanda was a great communicator before, during and after our stay. We hope to come back!

Our "Little Piece of Heaven"
This location adds such joy to our extended families' memories as we book it on an annual basis and it never disappoints. We are so grateful for its existence and the excellent care it receives from its property managers

Where just being needs no agenda
The aptly named Skyhouse is comfortable open space in and out; sweet kitchen, compost, big dining table; awesome pool/patio, easy hoops (free parking.) Throw in postcard views in every direction, of hills/valleys/trees bay/rock/ocean and it's ridiculous. A wide variety of windows & levels & balconies make for easy-going observation of sky and stars, and of the play of fog and wind. Lots of oaks, evergreens, and brush around, but the patio is also accented nicely with palms and other trees, (against blue, white, or starry night sky) rustling in the ocean breezes.
Great reunion after 8 years, all in one spot, with space enough to be comfy. There's plenty to go see and do, if that's what folks would like. House is thoughtfully furnished and lit, and with the view from every window, well, we were all impressed. We feel extremely fortunate to have spent our time together here!
My husband and I are always wanting to share the kind of paradise we are so deeply ensconced in, with our families. Now when we want to plan something here, instead of saying, "we just Came to California..." they will say, "can we stay at Skyhouse?" and I will hope that we can. Now they really 'get' the natural beauty inherent in the Central Coast vibe. ♥
Thank you very much!

Trip of a lifetime!
We stayed here during our son's graduation from CalPoly. We made it a reunion for our families. Everyone had their own space and was able to do their own thing. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need. Plenty of towels, etc. The pool and hot tub were amazing. You could hear the cows mooing from the other hill. You definitely feel like you are on top of the world! The clouds are below you. I would highly recommend this home if you are looking for something different. My only comments would be that they need better internet, a sound system - especially for outside - and a TV. Although it was nice to be "cut off from the world". We had a blast!!!

Beautiful, tranquil, and great for a group escape
We've been to the Sky House two years in a row with a group of friends and always look forward to the experience. The kitchen makes for a fabulous cooking atmosphere; the hot tub overlooking the hills is spectacular; and the views are in general unbeatable. If you're looking for a place to unwind, escape, and connect with people, we can't recommend it highly enough!

!!!
Spectacularly lovely views - we couldn't make up our minds whether to love the ocean side view or the rolling green hill view - so en group, moved several times so as to take in both. The house is eclectically perfect in it's art, layout, comfort and necessaries. It feels both fancy and homey all at once. The small things like the star jasmine planted on the patio for the scent; the cute touches like the art-wire unicorn on the wall...and the kitchen had all the things! There was absolutely nothing to complain about and so many things to cheer about. Can't wait to visit again!

Great Place to Stay!
Our Skyhouse stay was wonderful! We had a full house, but everyone was able to spread out and have his/her own space. The views are amazing! The only negative is the 3 mile dirt road - be prepared to have your car be covered with dust - but in the end it is worth it! The property is well maintained, the kitchen is great - we celebrated our daughter's graduation from Cal Poly - perfect place to stay if you want to be away from it all. Also - dog friendly!

Excellent Stay, As Always! Faster Internet now and Amazing New Grill!
This is the fifth time I have used this location for a gathering of 8-11 scientists from across California,
and it remains a highlight for all of us every time. The friendly and helpful owners continue to upgrade the amenities as well, including a faster internet connection and an awesome grill. We have found it a perfect location for the science sessions we do during the day in the main living room, the cooking and dining in the evening, and the hot-tub for ending the day. The hiking is great and very accessible. Our first-time participants are simply blown away by the location and the wonderful house; those of us who are returning feel a state of calm and relaxation upon arrival. We take full advantage of the whole house, including the beef grown on the ranch. Can't wait for my next escape.

Absolutely Stunning!!!!!
This house is heaven on earth!!! We were expecting a beautiful home with stunning views, but The Sky House is simply mind blowing! This is the kind of place you never forget. The house is spotless and completely equipped with anything you could possibly need. The beds are incredibly comfortable and all of the art work around the house is stunning, we especially loved the Wire Unicorn in the living room. They provide an information book on all of the art in the home, which makes for great morning coffee reading material. There are so many places to enjoy and things to see on the property, both inside and outside, you won’t have any reason to leave! John, the owner, is lovely and incredibly helpful without being overbearing (those of you who rent frequently may know the type). If you’re debating renting this home or not, book it now! You will not regret it!

A quiet family reunion
What a beautiful spot! It was a great place for my wife and I to go to get reacquainted with my 3 children, their spouses and 5 grandkids. We enjoyed just lounging around, reading, playing games and preparing good food. Diversions included a visit to Hearst Castle, the beaches, and the farmer's market in SLO. Watching the fog roll in each evening and awakening the next morning above the clouds was a truly unique experience. We'll never forget Sky House.

Sky House at Bear Creek Ranch
Sky House is a great place to gather your family for a reunion. We had 8 adults and our 5 grandkids for a week. Plenty of room for all, and lots of stuff to do. Once you get down the mountain, it's only about 20 minutes to Los Osos and San Luis Obispo. We went there several times to walk around and have lunch or dinner. We may well go back and repeat the week in a few years. I highly recommend Sky House for a great vacation.

Wonderful place for a gathering!
Fourteen executive, business and life coaches gathered at Sky House for 2.5 days of professional development and learning this past March. The house proved to be a perfect space for us to have large group, small group and one-to-one conversations, work together, cook, eat, play, and sleep. It was very comfortable, and the dramatic views of the hills, valleys, mountains, and ocean provided a stunning backdrop for our gathering. We plan to return to Sky House in 2013 after our east coast meeting next year.

AMAZING place.. AMAZING stay at The Skyhouse
The pictures and description does not do this place justice. It was the most amazing home, breathtaking views and unusual place I have ever rented and stayed at. We celebrated a private 50th birthday party over the past weekend and it was perfect. The rooms very cozy, the art pieces were spectacular but the most impressive part of our stay was the views!!! If you want to stay at a place that is one of kind, this is it!! I hope we can return to The Skyhouse once again. Thank you!!
