Room was lovely, dinner service was appalling, reception staff were lovely and breakfast was ok
Parking facilities are great. The person at reception when I checked in was very helpful. I asked about having dinner - he explained that the kitchen closed at 9.30 (I believe it was). I had arrived about 8.30pm-8.40pm and I also asked about having dinner in my room but there was some mention of an extra charge. Overall the check-in experience was great. Breakfast wasn't bad - food was a bit cold but when it is under heat lamps that, I suppose, can be expected. After making my complaint the next morning, the lady at reception asked me to wait for the assistant manager who was very polite and receptive.
After leaving my bag in my room, I hurried back downstairs to get dinner. At first I stood at the doorway of the restaurant waiting for some member of staff to acknowledge my very existence. That didn't work, so I approached the bar and the barman asked me if I was ok, I told him I wanted to sit for dinner and one of the girls working on the floor showed me a seat right beside where the singer was going to be playing in about half an hour. Now I know I wanted a quick bite to eat but, in fairness, to order, be served and eat my food was going to take about half an hour at least. After being shown to my table right up in the corner up the few stairs right beside an escape door, I looked at the menu quickly. What would be the quickest option? A pizza, thought I. So I ordered a margherita pizza and a pint. Pint arrived, margherita pizza arrived looking like a quattro formaggi - there was so much cheese on it, you could not see the tomato sauce or the base of the pizza. However, I was hungry and ate as much of the cheese block as possible. I positioned my cutlery in the 'finished eating' position, finished my pint and put away my reading material and then sat there for almost 20 minutes until someone realised that I wasn't a statue in the corner and came to ask me if I was ok!!! She was a lovely server and I then ordered a pot of tea...by that stage I could only drink half of it because I was on a deadline to get back to my room for a zoom call. I also realise that the restaurant was busy but I was sitting by myself, and I really felt that some of the floor staff were more concerned about the larger tables because that would be a bigger tip. Needless to say by the time I got up from the table the singer was well into his singing. Wonder was I being punished for wanting a table away from the music???

Gorgeous but interruptions were terrible
Fab decor, comfy bed. Very clean Roulade was amazing
Ordered a rare steak, got a medium-well. Dessert was served on a roasting hot plate so accompanying cream was curdling. Booked a late checkout - had 5 people knock on my door and 2 attempted to enter. Felt very unsafe as a result. Pity as hotel is fabulous

Good stay
First time staying at this hotel as we couldn't find anything closer to Marlay Park to attend a concert. First impressions were good, the hotel was lovely, clean and well presented. The rooms were spotless and the bed was very comfy.
Check in was extremely slow, only two staff members working. Breakfast was a little expensive but we opted not to avail of it and went out instead. The hotel is not within walking distance from Marlay Park
