Dripping taps and noisy shower extractor fan. View from window completely blocked by wall

Breakfast, staff and general atmosphere
Wind noise though the window frame meant we could not sleep after two am. The night manager came up and agreed that it was not acceptable and the management made us a very generous compensation offer

Clean rooms comfy beds good size rooms . Sea view from my room . Good size car park .
Car fills up very quickly & lifts not working at time of visit but did offer a lower floor room .

Breakfast was very good. Dinner was also very good but very expensive.
£140.00 for 2 courses each, 1 cocktail, 2 glasses of wine, water and mint tea felt quite expensive - quality of food was excellent though.

very nice room sea view, booking stated the room had not been refurbished, but there wasn't anything that needed doing in our opinion. Very clean bedroom and bathroom, beautiful Victorian hotel with original fittings. Reception and bar staff very friendly, polite and keen to help.
option of an early breakfast if catching a Ferry which we were, we had paid for breakfast and I'm sure it would have been lovely but we couldn't experience it as we had to leave at 7am, saying that tea and coffee and biscuits in the the room which we really appreciated.

Location & design / staff
In general: cleanliness … walking in, you’ll notice the big chandelier’s not been cleaned in yrs; there’s an unpleasant smell in the building throughout (you could install pro air freshners?); and the restaurant served us terrible breakfast (bacon uncooked, pancakes COLD & not freshly made; and the coffee pots were both DIRTY!!!)

Beautiful lobby. Really first rate. Corridors have cool pictures throughout. Grand staircase was fantastic. Skip the lift on your way down. The room was comfortable. We arrived during an exceptionally windy storm. Room was a bit creaky and loud, but it’s an historic property. Breakfast in AM was really top notch and reasonable. Attentive staff made you feel welcome.
Television was tiny.

The decor/ambiance, the lovely reception. The food in the restaurant was great and the bar was nice. Staff were nice and friendly. Lovely Victorian hotel and convenient free parking out the front. This was the hotel from Mr Bean in room 426 but unfortunately the 4th floor was closed for refurbishment but brought back great memories of the episode.
No complaints

The room was as advertised i.e. twin bedded with seaview.
The breakfast was horrid. It tasted pre-heated and the toast was burnt. When we asked for non-burnt toast, it never arrived and the waitress seemed totally uninterested and did not appologise.
