Lovely character building
Quite a bit of traffic so can be noisy.

Friendly and helpful staff, big room with lots of space to get ready and efficient check in!
The water pressure for the shower wasn’t good and the temperature was temperamental but we still had a great stay!

Nice old building in convenient location near the M1, but far enough away not to hear it. Quiet rooms at the back, only a bit of train noise. very comfy beds and spacious room with good size en suite. Great value for money with or without breakfast and loads of parking. Friendly and efficient staff.
bathroom a bit tired (broken toilet seat etc). No heating in the room, but don't like it hot anyway. Breakfast was a bit limited - some items not available and no self service option.

Room radiator not working despite cold weather. Shower looked nice size, but water was lukewarm for a couple of minutes before turning cold.

The price was extremely good for a 2 night stay, and the hotel was located nice and close to my friend's wedding venue. There was also a bar and restaurant attached which was nice (in theory). There was a very friendly female member of staff who was a little older than the others, but super welcoming, she seemed to be in charge of things.
- I asked for an ironing board and iron as per instructions in the room - I was given an ironing board in such a poor state, with a massive hold in and the cover all ripped and peeling off. The iron also did not work. When I went to return it, there was a girl at the bar who asked what I wanted and then sighed and walked off saying she wasn't supposed to have to deal with hotel customers (even though the hotel reception is at the bar).
- The towels hanging in the bathroom were crumpled and did not look very clean.
- The carex (handsoap) in the bathroom was running low, so we took it to reception to ask for more. They filled it with some white liquid which I thought was soap but was some horrible watery replacement.
- I booked a table online for Sunday at 7pm on the hotel's website. There were several later slots, however I thought 7pm would be a good time to have dinner. We were running a little late due to my friend's wedding preparation, so I called up and asked if we could move our reservation to 7:30pm. The girl on the phone told me the kitchen would close at 7:45 so we had to get there ASAP. When we arrived, all of the staff at the restaurant made it incredibly, painfully clear what an inconvenience we had been for them. We placed our orders immediately, and I asked for the 20% discount that I was told we could have upon checkin if we ate there. The man serving us then reiterated what an inconvenience it had been that we were late, he told us the kitchen closes at 6pm on a Sunday, but they had asked the chef to stay until 7pm for us, however we had made the chef work for an extra hour. In the end I just gave the 20% back as a tip because we felt so uncomfortable. This was supposed to be a happy weekend for a dear friend's wedding, but this was such an awkward, uncomfortable experience that could have been avoided if the hotel put accurate opening hours on their booking system.

We had asked to check in early, as we were attending a wedding nearby. We were warmly greeted, our room was ready & staff ordered a taxi for us.
Breakfast the following morning was very good & again staff were warm & friendly.
Very satisfying stay & certainly recommended.

Generally, as expected, very similar to our visit last autumn.
On our pevious visit we were advised that due to Covid we needed to specifically ask for our room to be service. SO .. when we checked in with the Manager for this visit we asked if that same 'rule' applied, and checked that our room would be serviced, and told 'Yes'!
On our return to our room the following day the room had NOT been serviced.
We complained to the Manager and expected some recompense. He said he would see what he could do. NOTHING ! we have not been contacted since!!

Breakfast was good. I had steak the night I arrived, that was very good
I booked dinner for 6:00PM. Was rung during the afternoon and told the kitchen closed at 6:00 so agreed 5:30. Went down at 5:30, there was a large party in, told that there would be 45 minute wait for food. Food actually didn't come until an hour after order although it was very nice. Staff a bit surely. I asked if glasses could be removed from my table but that didn't happen till the food came.
Room was passable but in desperate need of refurbishment. Silicon sealant round the lavatory looked really sloppy (room 3)
