The location is perfect for walking in The Lake District.
The property was quiet and cosy and the log fire was always being refilled with wood by the owners to keep the place warm.
I loved my stay here.
I loved Everything about the property.

Beautiful location, driving there in the evening was lovely with it nestled in between the hills! Was expecting the basics because it's a barn, but had good shower, bathroom, kitchen that was VERY well equipped (microwave, fridge, cooking gear, kettle, plates, cutlery).
You will need some coins for the shower but it lasts so long that you can probably let everyone in the barn shower with that pound!
The host even put the fire on without us knowing to help dry our clothes/boots which was lovely.
I saw a few previous reviews that said it was dirty on the floor.....i would like to make it clear that it is a BARN. The floor is dusty because people are walking around with their boots on, but everything else is spotless. It will be as clean as the people visiting allow it to be.
Would definitely stay again, if you want a basic but lovely accommodation and if you're looking to walk all day and sleep in a warm bed at night for a cheap price it is perfect.

We stayed as a group of 3, on arrival we were showed around by Jean. We stayed out most of the day/night and come back and sat outside so we didn't wake any other groups staying, when bed time arrived the room was pitch black so had to use torches and my friend slipped from her bunk bed another very rude couple in the group then began to cover her abuse saying to be respectful of other people staying, I'm sorry but for £20 a night in a shared dorm what do you expect? The owner told us in the morning not to return wich was also very rude, the barn was a little ruff and could do with a deep clean but for the price I wouldn't worry too much in that respect, another lady left early as she couldn't sleep due to the loud snoring from another couple (who are the people in question who caused the disturbance). We cleaned everything down before we left and taken out rubbish out the the bins, it also got mentioned we eat a pizza and had a few beers before bed wich I don't see the problem with to be made out the next day we are beer drinking pigs with a unhealthy diet was very out of order then to be told we are "not part of the walking community" also spoilt out trip I felt was a blow to far. Location of the barn needs a taxi to nearest town nothing around but a very expensive bar 10minz up the road. For the price the stay was good but the company was terrible wich is always a risk you take being in a shared accommodation
Being told not to come back! Very unnecessary.

Jean was welcoming and friendly and gave us clear instructions. The space is superb and far exceeded my expectations. An absolute gem. Showers were hot, kitchen well stocked and it was cosy and homely meeting all our needs. Only wish we could stay longer.
No reflection on Jean at all, but some unpleasant, loud, drunk guests spoilt a night's sleep leaving countless takeaway boxes and beer bottles around. They were rude and aggressive and most likely kept neighbours awake. Such a shame, certainly not behaviour you would expect from the walking community, lighting fires and smoking. We cleared up most of their mess. Jean dealt with the situation beautifully and actually it didn't spoil the experience at all! We will be back. Thank you.

Great camping barn - comfy beds, great shower and toilet, fantastic kitchen, great host, fantastic peaceful location with spectacular local walks. Local waterfall. Local pub. Local lake. Local mountain (Helvellyn). Local buses great (close bus stop).

Wow, what a magical place! Set in a beautiful scenery, a stone built barn converted into a dorm is what you'd expect it to be, or more.
True it gets cold, but that's why you need to bring your own sleeping bag, and guests are advised to do so prior to arrival. Hot water bottles provided, a thoughtful detail that made the stay delightful. Privacy curtains in the dorm, now how many hostels would provide these? Another amazing detail.
Fireplace and board games set out for guests. I had a magical stay and for the money I paid I couldn't ask for more.
Fully equipped kitchen is right next door, free to use, the fridge is massive so you can easily stock up on food for your next escapade.
Can't think of anything I didn't like.
Finding it was somehow confusing as I was arriving at night, it was pitch black outside, and as soon as I pulled up, my phone lost reception. But, sat nav indications are right, and if you past drive the first couple of houses, the B&B, you'll definitely see the barn. In broad day light there will be no issue at all.
Note, there are no electricity sockets in the barn, but there are in the kitchen right next door.
So, make Note and remember to charge your phone prior to getting here.

Amazing location, super cheap, beds super comfy (had the best nights sleep ive had in ages!)
No plug sockets in main barn (have to go next door to kitchen area) also worth noting that it is cold in the bedroom barn - bring layers and you also have to pay for shower (1£ coin or 5×20p) not really an issue but might be frustrating if you didn't know and didnt have any change/cash. Overall though I'd definitely stay again and would recommend!

the location was perfect. very quiet, lots of lovely walks, relaxing seating area outside. warm fire in the barn, cosy and homely. lake was only a 10 min walk away. Jean who runs the place was very kind and helpful. I woke up a couple of mornings to her lighting the fire for me. she was very knowledgeable about the area, different walks and transport. she also lent me some books and maps. great value for money compared to other hostels in the area! I would definitely recommend and will be visiting again
if you don’t like living with basics, this place wouldn’t be for you. but I was very happy with the property. also there is no phone signal- but that I also enjoyed. and when I needed signal it’s a 9 minute walk to the kings head where they have free WiFi.

Amazing location and lovely host.

Location was excellent. Price was great. Parking beside the barn.
Just be aware that you may not receive a phone signal here.

Perfect location in the Lake District. Host provides wood for a fire each day and hot water bottles for the bed (both definitely needed as it gets quite cold!). Bus stop right out front.
The overall barnhouse is a bit dusty, mainly from the fireplace. It is also probably better if you have a car, although the bus stop is right outside the house. The bus just doesn't come very often or late at night. No wifi or no signal inside accomodation.

I loved it here. Jean, the host was really helpful. Price was reasonable, facilities were excellent.
