I didn’t i ended up leaving even tho in the past I’ve stayed loads of times
my room the floor was so filthy so had to get it cleaned the fire wasn’t working after going to reception for the 3rd time reporting it. so i asked for my money back and left. im not sure if it was the manager but he was so rude and said well go on then just leave. I’m not sure if it’s different owners but I’ll definitely won’t be returning

Dog friendly. The view from our room was beautiful, especially the lambs in the adjacent field as it was Easter.

Lovely location and property as a whole. We stayed for 2 nights over New Year. Food and refreshments overall were first class. A great relaxing place to get away. A really peaceful place and the staff were lovely. A few of the younger ones clearly lacked skill but were still very pleasant. Food excellent, venue just perfect, lovely staff and even the housekeeping team were caring and helpful. We took our dog...'Fudge'...who was treated and welcomed with open arms. I would say the Carpenters Arms is a real gem.....if you are thinking about visiting......just do it. You will not be disappointed.
Nothing to be honest....we did have a wonderful stay.
The only thing that I would like to pass onto the senior management team is an issue relating to staffing. Sadly, the only thing I would mark down (so to speak), was related to staffing. The younger staff clearly lack skill/attn to detail and interpersonal skills. This is the nature of 'millennial' youngsters just not having those skills and the impact of COVID on hospitality as a whole. I do understand this/these issues.
However, the more experienced staff were clearly under alot of pressure and seemed to be left to cope. It appeared there was no senior leadership...no support. Those managing the issues extremely admirably were busy 'doing' but also had to sort issues out which took them away from their 'doing'. Where was the support? It was not easy to watch. This would not have been particularly 'spotable' to many...but from working in operations/customer service for a long time...it was easy to see from our perspective.
The food was first class and presented beautifully which is just as well. Had the staff had food returned or such like then this would have put even further pressure upon the front of house staff. Full marks to the kitchen....superb.
Would I go again and stay or eat or just visit. Absolutely....but it was a shame to see folks clearly under pressure...and working very long hours just to keep the 'ship' afloat.
Please do not let my words put anyone off.....this place is a gem......the above words are more of a constructive message for the Senior Management team. Please support your staff...they are a lovely caring bunch.

Very enjoyable experience.
The tv signal (except bbc channels) was poor, could do with an aerial booster, but had reasonable internet access.
