Breakfast was superb, our bed was superbly comfortable and there was plenty of hot water for the shower. For great food at a very reasonable price go the Fox and Hounds rather than the 2 closer pubs. Landlady is super friendly and helpful.
Drive is long and a bit rough so this isn't for you if you're precious about your very posh limited suspension travel car! A normal car like our mini is fine though.

The weather!

Angela was the perfect host, welcoming, friendly and vivacious. Nothing was too much for her. The B&B was clean, comfortable and cozy. A real home from home! The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The medieval village is a must see. We'll definitely be returning.
It couldn't be improved in any way!

Great value for money. Large room and large bathroom. Comfy bed. Angela was a great host who made us feel very much at home. Very quiet. Wonderful views. Good breakfast.
Probably could have done with better lighting for drying hair. But it's a tiny complaint. Breakfast is ordered the night before.

All facilities exceeded my expectations. For the price I did not expect too much and, as a single person, it turned out to be good value for the price.
Everything was OK.

We were met by the perfect host - warm, friendly and very welcoming. The property was close enough to cycle into the village to eat, but our host even offered to drive us in which was very nice of her. As we were on a cycling trip we needed plenty of energy and the breakfast was superb, very tasty and excellently cooked. We were able to store our bikes overnight under cover.
The room was accurately described as the attic room and it was fine and comfotable but we were only able to shower sitting down due to the sloping roof.
Beware if your'e a cyclist - the lovely, peaceful, friendly sheepdog (who I had given a good stroking minutes earlier) bit my leg once I got on my bike! Obviously has a thing about bikes! (the host was unaware of this as she'd returned inside the house.) Just beware.

Great breakfast! Accommodating - made us sandwiches on day of leaving. Very friendly. Up early with us. Gave us space.
Surprised and pleased to have family room. Bathroom would have been even nicer with radiator. Shower head pressure could have been a bit better. Overall very cozy - these were only small things.

Heathergate Cottage is away from any roads in the middle Dartmoor in a lovely peaceful setting. Angela is a brilliant host, does a great breakfast, has time to chat and offer advice on places to visit and places to eat.
There’s nothing to dislike about the property.

The house is easy to find and has commanding views of the surrounding hills. The room was very comfortable and our host provided anything that we might require. We were able to leave our car at the house and walk to the bus stop going to either Tavistock or Oakhampton which now has it's rail connection restored to Exeter which is hourly. Our host even took the trouble to take us to the bus stop in her car.
The family have three resident Pea-Cocks which are very entertaining.
Our Jack Russell dog was also made most welcome
I havn't mentioned the breakfast which is excellent and freshly cooked to order.
We plan to return again probably bringing our bicycles as the nearby trailway at Lydford is available and an excellent and easy ride or walk on a good surface all the way to Okehampton.
I really cannot report anything that was not to our liking

Breakfast was fantastic as were the views. We loved the peacocks too
Had a bit of a problem finding it as our satnav didn',t recognise postcode or the road it was off. Instructions to find could have been better

Heathergate is a quiet family home with top accommodation.
Angela your host is a very happy special person nothing is to much trouble.
Rooms are clean and tidy with everything needed for your stay.
Personally my stay was for 5 nights so I could fish the various lakes each day.
After a full English breakfast superbly cooked.
The village has a superb pub The Castle Inn great mixture of local beers and ciders.
Meals are a great mixture of local dishes and main favourites.
This makes a great base for trips around the area both by car bike or walking.

Excellent value for money, and acceptable parking off farmers lane. This farmhouse had tasteful decor, and offered us a very spacious bedroom—and likewise bathroom—of good standards. The hostess was fine, along with her breakfast skills. We even had an evening peep into our first floor bedroom, from some peacocks: we did not have them for breakfast.
Little to demur. There were some poor white chest of drawers, mixed in alongside some very good furniture. The drawers were the open-and-drop variety, good to look at but not to use!
