We loved the design of the accommodation that had been built by the owner on stilts which gave the MOST AMAZING views of the falls from our bedroom and the dining room/bar.
It was definitely worth the long drive to get there.
Most exceptional, beautiful walks along by the river.
The view point was spectacular.
John, our guide was incredibly helpful and informative when he took us to meet a Himba family - I can highly recommend a visit
The food wasn’t good.
An earlier breakfast than 7.30am would be good if you you’re wanting to leave early to drive back towards Opuwo.
No manager to oversee the staff.
We had to use our own car to go & see the Himba family.
Please note make sure you have enough cash to do the tours, massage & laundry.
We were short and therefore we were limited to what tours we could do!
No WiFi.

Lage, Konzept, Anlage

The location was bliss. Right next to the falls with a view across the Kunene river of the Angolan hills.
Nothing in particular

My second stay this year. The most peaceful, relaxing place I have stayed in my long life. The staff here are the kindest, most considerate and caring than I have met almost anywhere else. The views over the Epupa falls on the Kunene river are magnificent. Guide available (ask for Owen / Kataparo Muhenje) for kayaing/paddling, to visit local people, for walks along the rive and to visit a nearby OvaHimba village, where life goes on as it has for thousands of years. Do not miss this treat of a lodge. Special thanks to Riko, Nella and all the lovely ladies taking care of us guests in the restaurant and bar!
Having to leave !!!!!

From being received personally by the delightful receptionist Rikoo, to the excellent service at the bar by Beverley, this little gem was one of the happiest stays of my life; all due to the kindness shown by all the lovely staff and Wes (?), the owner. The rooms are all above ground level - necessary because this lodge is right on the banks of the Kunene river, so around 8/9 steps up.... but Rikoo very kindly helped this old, partially-disabled man with his one carry-on bag. I bought a mosquito net before flying to Namibia, anticipating lots of those little beasties on the river (and having contracted malaria 40 years ago on the Nile!); not necessary - the very comfortable king-sized (?) bed had its own massive net. During my short stay I never saw a single insect in my room, let alone mosquitos, though I was warned that March - April they might appear! I guess they like stagnant water, not flowing rivers.
The bar- restaurant is beautifully positioned, again up a few stairs, and with the most beautiful close-up view of the top of the Kunene river falls.... just magnificent!
Breakfast and dinner were delicious, service immaculate. Requests always satisfied. Chef could easily be employed by a 5-star international hotel and the high quality of the food was what you'd expect of "haute cuisine" in any top restaurant in a European capital: I simply don't know how the owner managed to find such lovely, efficient, capable staff.
Do NOT miss a fantastic massage by Nella!
The local guide, Owen, was superb. he took me to drink with "the locals'.... the people who live close to the lodge in a very small "township". What lovely people.... I even had an offer of marriage from the Head of the Town!
The highlight of my visit was an invitation to a local OvaHimba village situated some 10 to 15 km from the lodge; I finally managed to satisfy myself about the various contradictions I have read about their culture and traditions.
Not a thing!

Everything: its location, the very cared garden, type of accommodation, cleanliness, warmth and kindness of the owner and his staff, professionalism, the excellent FOOD, the peace…
Nothing at all!

The food was delicious and I like the place so much....
Tour guider to be available and info on how to use them to explore the whole place well and smoothly

Great location and friendly, helpful staff.
No hot water in our room, even after we complained. Rooms did not have air conditioning - it was bearable for us but not ideal. In summer it must become an issue, at least then you won't mind the cold shower. But overall, still worth a visit...

We were next to the fall which was magic. Natural environment as expected. Excellent service, friendly and accommodating staff, good food. Beautiful birds. Super sunsets. well worth the rough roads that lead to Epupa.
Koos is a go-getter
We were surprised when the power went off during the night, but we should have expected it.
Maybe an early warning to make sure cameras are charged should be considered.

I like that the lodge is on the river bank and close to the falls.
The scenery is spectacular.
The chalets and the lodge is beautiful.
There was a problem with our shower drain.

Amazing staff and owner.
Breath taking view from our room and the restaurant.
Highly recommend it!

The view is great, the food is excellent. Fresh ingredients cooked with love to perfection. Staff friendly and helpful after you kick-start them with a smile. This is a location far away from the next bigger places, you need to be aware, that this means a slightly lesser comfort level. Great sundown. Location directly by the water fall and with many Himba villages close by.
Price for food/drinks great and very fair.
Bed was itchy, we had to use our camping linen to stop us from feeling the need to scratch all the time, rooms are to dark, light better placed would help, toilet water pressure low, shower switches cold/hot by itself very often.

Located right next to the falls. Very friendly staff. Great cook and delicious meals, also for vegetarians. Nice pool. Very relaxing spot. Nice guided tour (most other seem to walk the 3 km upstream) to spot crocodiles.
Greatly overpriced: simple huts without a fan. Klamboo (bed net) needed, but this made for hot nights as they block the air circulation.
Owner seems to live on the plot but has no tendency whatsoever to talk to the guests.
