Super modern lodge site in a wonderful position on the desert hills. Spacious and modern lodges with a cosy common reception area

Amazing experience in a beautiful setting
10.0 / 10.0
The room and the atmosphere.
The food choices(for example only vegeterian starters) and portion size (one chicken thigh for a male).

Nice and cozy cabin, nice balcony with a fantastic view, comfortable bed, friendly staff, delicious food for dinner, good breakfast, beautiful landscape, nice pool, WiFi in room no. 5!
Two single beds instead of one large kingsize bed...

Everything ! The place, the view, the silence, the Lodge, the room and the kindness of all staff.

This was my second time here within 14 months, so my expectations were pretty high after last year's excellent experiences. It was a bit like coming back home here and the familiarity of the surroundings has made our stay again very spacial. It was great to see that the amenities were still in top shape and well maintained, despite the climatic elements (heat, wind, erosion) buildings in this area have to brave. The most memorable aspect of staying here nevertheless is interacting with the staff, who go over and beyond to make you feel comfortable, pampered, and entertained. A big thank you goes out to them, as they are really the heart and soul of this place.
There is no phone/data coverage in this remote area (which is a fact that you have to deal with anyway in most of the country) and if the wifi goes out (which was the case during our stay), you end up without mobile connection. It's only an issue of you really need to stay connected, otherwise it's a good opportunity for a few days of digital detox :)

Breakfast was average
The lodge had a potential of 5 star, however, it is not clean besides for the dune dust. The shower, mirrors and lounge balustrade are filthy. Then you wonder how their kitchen is

View and rooms
Pool and pool area dirty, broken chairs, food not great, staff not well trained.

Architecture; landscape and rooms where comfortable and clean.
Swimming pool area. Not as neat and clean as the rooms standards. not enough sun beds for all the guests. No rules so guest can be load and make noise etc. and that disturbs the atmosphere. The staff is also not well trained and aren’t service orientated and friendly.

Gorgeous room
Gorgeous bathroom
stunning views
amazing and very confortable facilities overall
Checkin and checkout experiences were painful with lack of coordination between members of the staff. it feels like the staff didn’t really pay attention to clients’ requests.
it’s fine for a property in the middle of the desert to not have wifi but then don’t advertise it on the booking
the menu of the restaurant was quite disappointing as very plain

wonderful setting, unique accomodation and stunning sunset view from the balconies, highly recommended

The beautiful views, the exclusivity and quiet. The food was delicious!
As with most pools in Namibia, the water is very cold due to the night/day temperature fluctuations. For those less hardy, like me, it’s less tempting to take a dip but looks nice!

Awesome location with fantastic sunset.
Very unique rooms with mind blowing thatching.
Food terrible!
Service bad and staff untrained.
Two single beds were made into a double bed but with two single duvets?!

This facility is very special and built with great attention to detail. The thatched roof chalet's are in a word perfect. The main lodge is extremely nice as well.

Wifi not good

Stunning Architecture and views
Breakfast mediocre. Staff inadequately trained for an establishment of this calibre

The location and staff were fabulous. They even comped a guide room for our driver - an unexpected need due to my back injury and inability to drive.
The only real issue was the food quality which did not match the standard of the hotel/location. There is some other fine tuning to be done as well to meet the high standard it sets for itself, surely just 'growing pains'.

The food was great. Staff very helpful
The wifi wasn't working, we had to go to their neighboring property to access wifi. . Beds were not comfortable at all.

The area is great. Amzing views. Food was perfect. Buildings are in good condition and well pland. Realy like this place.
Host Sakkie not wereing uniform like all other staff. Had a pajama pants on when we got there with a hol and in slops
Pool was not in use as they added tomuch chemicals.
The restaurant and loby needs music. You hear every small noise like a fridge cranking, toilet flushing.
Host Sakkie is also barman. No clue of being a barman. We were not serverd while sitting outside with drinks we have to walk and go ask. But most staff are standing around...
The place is beautiful and alot of money has been put in. It needs small things to make is better.

Amazing view from the rooms over the totally unique landscape
Rooms with special and very nice design
Great pool facility
Quality of the food was okay but did not meet the otherwise very high standards (and price)
Staff was very friendly, but seemed not very well organized

I have had a great stay at desert hills lodge. What I liked the most? Definitely the view and the people! I enjoyed every minute on my porch. The people at this place are also very nice and careful. I also booked a trip to Sossusvlei, which was amazing. It was a whole day trip with all the main stops (still impressed by the beauty of the sights) and a guide who explained us a lot.
I only have one point, that could be improved. Breakfast and Dinner, there is still room for improvement 😉.

Fantastic location facilities and staff. I am vegetarian with severe food allergies and they catered well for me with no problems.
There is easy access to Sesreim and beautiful area to relax and unwind.

the rooms and the views were great
The swimming pool was so dirty (white foam floating, insects everywhere) we couldn’t even swim and the staff didn’t seem to care, probably more preoccupied texting than removing the dirty glasses and towels. We were being told to move out of the main building as they were cleaning the area 20m away, and the internet connexion was non existant. There is much more value for money in the other lodges around as even though the rooms and the location were great, the rest didn’t follow. We even made our stay shorter as it was not worth the money.

The setting is just amazing and the staff's friendliness makes all the difference. Very nice activities facilitated by the Lodge's staff
The internet may be unreliable but we are there to disconnect after all :)
