Location, staff
Problem with pipe in the bathroom, water everywhere. And the manager who forces a conversion rate dollar/shillings which is completely false (2400 versus 2300)!

The food here is exceptional.
My booking was accepted but the location I chose was fully booked, had to be moved to their other hotel 15 minutes away from where I wanted to be. The bonus was the hotel arranged transport free of charge in the morning so I could get my bus/coach.

great location, comfy bed, shower was great
slow wifi, lot of noise, austere breakfast
4.5 / 5.0
Friendly, efficient staff
Slow internet, but that's true everywhere you stay in Tanzania.
Central location means lots of traffic noise.

AC
All round dreadful, I left a long detailed review explaining why, but as I had two separate bookings, I'm just making sure by reviewing a second time. Dirty, unsafe, terrible service, unhelpful and rude staff, tried to make us pay them cash when already had payment confirmation via booking.com

The air conditioning was quite good.
When I arrived, I was alone as my friends were delayed on a separate flight. They suggested as I was travelling solo, I needn't have such a large room. I explained the situation, but even so, if i choose to pay for a big room for myself I don't want to be downgraded (no doubt for no difference in price!).
Exhausted after travelling and then climbing to the "3rd floor" which would actually be 4th or 5th depending on whether USA or UK numbering conventions were used, I showered (in a trickle of low pressure) and got into bed. I found a used plaster stuck on my sheet. There were cockroaches everywhere, and having lived in very rural south africa, I'm not unused to them, but weirdly I saw no cockroaches anywhere else in my 2.5 weeks in the country except this hotel. There was a hideous brown doormat just outside the bathroom door with some old used flipflops on it (presumably to wear for 'hygiene' into the bathroom - yuck!).
Breakfast was pitiful - mostly empty hot plates and a few leftover cold bits of fried bread / donut type things. We were there to run a marathon so my friend asked if she would he able to get coffee somewhere before the race and they proudly stayed that yes, breakfast would be served from 3am - it was more meagre than usual and when she returned her coffee cup to the kitchen window having made it herself, was informed there would be a charge of $5. After the marathon, we ordered room service for dinner and were told it would be 30 minutes but waited 2 hours for it to materialise. After 1 hour we were told someone had knocked and we hadn't answered - lies, the door was open! I ended up going looking for it to find the stairwell flooded due to I think a window left open and someone ineffectual slopping a very wet mop around making it worse so retreated to my room to avoid slipping down the 5 floors of slick tiles.
