Shower inadequate

Breakfast was excellent. Cycle security was excellent. Welcome from staff was excellent. There was no noise fom other guests that disturbed us and the area was peaceful with 2 great local pubs for dinner.
At the price we paid I honestly could not fault the property, staff, or accommodation.
4.0
Upon booking breakfast was included and as it was only £100 for the night for 3, so I wasn't sure what the quality would be like. However, I was very impressed the cooked breakfast was lovely and the concierge at all times was very attentive and catered to our every need.
My only qualm would probably be the size of the accomadation. Our bathroom especially, it was tiny and quite hard to shower properly because of the size. However, being such an old character building I suppost these little quirks are to be expected but wouldn't be ideal for us if staying more than one night as my bf being 6ft5 would have felt a little too cramped.

The building was very old and full of character located within a working farm.
There is plenty of outside space and a limited bar.
Brilliant location just a miles to Eastbourne and the Beach.
The bathroom could do with a bit of TLC.

Good parking, excellent breakfast, great value for money
Low water pressure in shower

Very attentive polite staff. Very clean beautiful room. Breakfast was exceptional

Breakfast was fast, substantial and tasty- particularly the bacon! The location was fabulous. Lots of wonderful walks available in such an historic old village. Easy access into Eastboure via a close-by bus and close enough to Polgate station for access to the airport, London and other places. Perfect!
No real complaints but perhaps a bar with snacks available for the evening might add to its attraction.

staff very friendly and helpful.
peaceful location
property is very run down and in need of a refresh

It is an old but quirky building; appreciate it for what it is. The garden is large and allowed some bird and insect spotting. It was quiet and allowed a good nights rest after a long day of traveling! Great pub, within walking distance!
Getting in and out of the shower... ha ha ha, still... it did not really matter. The water was hot, the shower was good.

Breakfast was very nice.
The bathroom facilities were little better than a cupboard. The property has great potential but needs a lot of refurbishment.

The quiet location at the foot of the Downs and very convenient for Eastbourne. Short walk also to local pub.

Third time we have stayed here. A lovely character property in a quiet village location with nice garden. Nice welcome at reception. Room and bathroom spacious and very clean, bed comfortable, room warm. Breakfast really good, with quality, well cooked, ingredients. Parking available on site, (although limited). A good night's sleep, a clean room, and a good breakfast, - just the ticket!
The property would benefit from a lick of paint in a few places, although the public areas were fine. Also, we stayed on a Saturday and there was a wedding reception taking place in the room directly below ours, which meant loud music for a while but it stopped around 11.00.

The doorway into the shower was tiny!

clean & the bed was comfortable. very pretty from the outside. Adequate breakfast nicely cooked.
Whole place needs refurbishing and updating whilst keeping the character. Water from hot tap just a dribble. Didn’t use shower so can’t comment on that. Quite old-fashioned too in the way things done - no info in bedrooms - had to go back downstairs to front desk to get wifi code.

The beds were comfortable and bed linen was excellent as was breakfast.
The room was very shabby and not very clean. The accommodation generally needed to be revamped.
The room needed updating and a thorough clean.

Great choice or cereals, yoghurt, fruit and fruit juices, Full English for breakfast. Catered for my partners gluten intolerance. Great location, just outside Eastbourne. Plant nursery to the rear of property and rolling hills beyond. There is a farm next to property that is not open to the guests/general public. But I found waking up to the sounds of cows lowing Cockerel crowing and horses neighing a pleasure

The breakfast was very nice. The location was good for what we required

The breakfast was nice and well cooked. However there was someone else's tea in the sugar pot.
The gardens and surrounding area was beautiful.
Unfortunately there isn't anything else we can think of that we liked.
We had a room in the attic, the floor was uneven and it was difficult to stand up in most parts of the room.
The bathroom was awful. We feared having a shower would make us dirtier. There was an old razor left in the shower and hair in the shower tray.
The water pressure was incredibly low and the shower was temperamental to turn on. The hot tap was very very difficult to turn off.
The toilet creaked when you sat on it and you had to duck to use the toilet because of the eaves. The basin of the sink was coming away from the base. Overall the bathroom looked like it was about 40 years old.
The room was fairly big but you couldn't stand up in a lot of it. It honestly felt a bit like the hotel had been overbooked and they thought "quick, stick a bed in the loft".
Bed was ok but only one pillow each.
No one was on reception when we checked out to ask how our stay was, however this is a fairly tame review compared to what it was like. It's a shame as it has promise to be a beautiful hotel.

Breakfast was good and the bedroom good.
I think a mattress protector or topper might be a good idea.

Warmly greeted on arrival and actually taken to our room. Very tasty breakfast and the staff were so attentive. When the weather turned a little cooler the hotel turned the heating back on.
Everything was perfect

Great for an overnight stay on the way to Newhaven ferry. Safe free car parking. Fun to hear the animals. Shame we left too early to go to the garden centre. Great breakfast

Breakfast excellent. Very quiet. Nice view.
We were at the top of this ancient building so the stairs were steep and the floors uneven and the bathroom very cramped.

Beautiful setting and and lovely property full of history
liked everything about it… if you are not happy with slanting floors and some low ceilings etc…all characteristics of an old beautiful building then book somewhere modern!!!
