The house was in a great location within 20mins of pretty much all towns and trails on the island. The views from the house are amazing especially at night, we were lucky enough to be staying during a full moon. Rai, the owner, was very informative and helpful with the booking process and local suggestions. The house has all amenities needed for a long stay and of course everything needs for lobster boils. We highly recommend staying here. One Restaurant that stood out from the rest was the Traveling Lobster, it was by far the best and most reasonable lobster meals we had while visiting! We hiked many of the trails and you cant go wrong with any of them. However, our group favorites were the Beehive, Penobscot Mt, and Beech Mt to see the fire tower. This was a great trip and a great location to stay.

We’ve stayed on long pond multiple times. This property has phenomenal views of the pond and Beech/Mansell mountains. Additionally, the house is roomy, comfortable, in great shape, and with a fully stocked kitchen. Overall, this is a great place!

Beautiful views of Long Pond, very quiet and private. House was supplied with everything we wanted or needed. Very spacious and clean, modern and extremely comfortable. Would recommend this property highly. You’ll be glad you stayed there, it was hard to leave!

Heaven in Acadia
Traveling from southern Illinois, our 2 families of 8, 4 adults and 4 boys ages 15-20, found this home to be heaven in Acadia! We have been home now nearly one week and I’m still perusing my photos wishing we were still at TopOtheRidge.
First of all, the communication with Rai and Den were incredible. Pleasant, thorough, quick in response via text, a call, or email to answer any questions or help with vacation difficulties.
Secondly, the location, the views, the layout of the property CANNOT be beat! All 4 boys had their own place to sleep without feeling they were disconnected from the group. The amenities, the little labels and signs of where things are located, the convenience of adequate supplies seriously made this stay stress free!
However, it is the view and location that steals the show. Acadia stares right at you when you wake up and is there in the distance to help you fall asleep. The mountains and lake view is indescribably perfect. The dock, the crystal clear lake, and the kayaks were so much fun! We had to force ourselves to stick with our hiking plans in the Park because this location is so beautiful and so perfect in and of itself!
I truly hope we can visit again someday.
I have absolutely nothing to suggest because we felt so taken care of.
** things we learned:
- Most Maine grocery stores do not have plastic bags at checkouts. Bring a little handful from home.
- if you hike to the tower of Beech Mountain, you can see Top O the Ridge in the distance! So cool! Sunset is AH-amazing here!
- With summer traffic and cautious speed limits, anything on Mt.Desert is about 25 minutes away. But it doesn’t feel far…. Don’t let that deter you from this location.
- The sound system in the living room turns rainy days into really fun movie days!
- Buy groceries on your way in. Once you are here, you will NOT want to leave! You will instantly want to unwind, relax, and start your vacation!
- We did bring bug spray and used it one evening when sitting on the deck. From southern Illinois, we are very used to bugs, so we did not get too annoyed. However, I’ve seen others give warnings about Acadia being buggy. Just a heads up.

Exceeded our Expectations!
We'd never spent time in Maine or on the Atlantic Coast, and being able to start and end our day our days at Top o' the Ridge gave us the perfect homebase to explore and relax when we weren't hiking or on the water. A few things that have stood out to us:
- The provided gift bag was generous, unexpected, and a delicious introduction to local fare.
- We enjoy active vacations and being outdoors, and the kayaks and canoe on the dock have given us a way to enjoy Long Pond in a way that exceeded our expectations! We spent mornings out on the water before heading out to the many trails that were usually less than a 30 minute drive.
- It's not mentioned on the VRBO description, but the movie collection is fantastic. ... we were able to spend hours together in the evenings re-watching our favorites and introducing our kids to classics!
- The house itself is not modern or luxurious, but... wow... it's spacious, clean, well-provisioned, and more than comfortable enough for the way we travel.
- The expanse of the view to the south from the large windows and deck was a wonderful distraction from our city living but made it easy to watch birds, mountains, and the forest. (I used my binoculars for most situations, but the spotting scope in the house is a great way to look for the eagles.
We can't wait to go back and spend longer!

Incredible Location
By far, the most wonderful thing about this property is the location, right on Long Pond, and the dock, kayaks, and canoe. Very peaceful location and amazing attention to detail by the owners. Thank you! We will be back!

Wonderful vacation home with a stunning view
My family of 4 absolutely loved this vacation home! The lake view is gorgeous, especially the sunrise! We would wake up early just to enjoy the beautiful sunrise from the living room, at the deck, or at the dock area. The home is spacious and equipped with everything we need. The welcome basket and the home made wine are so thoughtful! We loved the fruit and the wine! The movie collection is incredible! My children both wanted to stay at the cozy loft upstairs! The booking process was easy and smooth. Host Rai and caretaker Den are wonderful, and would check with us to make sure everything is running smoothly. We had a great time hiking at the Acadia National Park and visiting local lobster joints daily. We would buy fresh lobster/seafood to cook daily as well. The house is not far from the Acadia National Park. The fall foliage is just beautiful while driving in the area. Will definitely consider this vacation home again!

Great retreat close to Acadian National Park
The “Top of the Ridge” has everything one may want to spend some wonderful family time : access to lake (canoe/kayak/fishing), proximity to Acadia National Park (hiking/biking), board games galore, cable tv, WiFi, and lots of living space professionally cleaned. Thanks Rai for your hospitality!!

Exceeds expectations
The location of the property provides both a stunning view and ready access to a large fresh water pond (by name) which is really more a lake by size. The home is very well supplied with amenities. In addition it is well maintained and comfortable having the look and feel of a lake home rather than a seasonal camp. I have stayed in multiple properties on MDI. This was clearly the best. The owner is very easy to communicate with and thorough. Highly recommended.

We'll be back!
Top O' The Ridge was the perfect place for our family vacation. The view, the pond, and all the amenities exceeded our expectations. We all had our own space but also had wonderful places to gather. We love Acadia, and would definitely come to this property again.

Spectacularly located and spacious home
We stayed at Top O' The Ridge in May 2017. The owner was really helpful during the booking process and in readiness for our stay.
The property is set in a spectacular location. It is on what amounts to a private island within Long Pong which holds a small number of lakeside properties. This particular property is in one of the best positions, with an elevated view down the length of the Long Pond Lake.
The property has three levels; a main level that contains a living area, kitchen two bedrooms and two bath rooms; an upstairs area that contains a double bedroom in the vaulted roof area; also a lower section which contains further bedrooms and a second living area and kitchenette. The views from the main living area across a decent sized outdoor deck are spectacular.
The property enjoys direct lake access, including a floating deck on the lake itself. This is perfect to launch a canoe or kayak from, or just simply to sit and enjoy the lake close up. It also has steps into the lake for those who feel like a dip.
We found everything we could ever need included in the home, from kitchen utilities through to a canoe and all related safety gear! It is very highly spec'd in every detail.
This is a great property from which to explore Mount Desert Island including Acadia National Park. There is a wide choice of restaurants, bars and shops within a short drive. The house is perfect to relax in after a long days exploring, or just to hang out in on a lazy day.
We would very highly recommend this property to anyone.

There is no better spot on MDI.
Top O The Ridge is the ideal Acadia getaway. This is my fifth time visiting MDI/Acadia, and by far the best. The location is second to none (incredible views, lake access, quiet part of the island, central location so everything is <30min drive) but even more impressive was how well the house was stocked and organized. Rai does an incredible job coordinating the booking/reservation process and he leaves the house in a totally user friendly self explanatory state. I will only return to Acadia when I can stay at Top O The Ridge.

The Perfect Holiday Home
This was the most perfect getaway home! Even though I saw the pictures on line, nothing compares with seeing the views yourself. The sun rises were glorious, but the sunsets were incomparable.
The house itself was so well looked after, stocked better than my own home! It had everything, from every appliance/utensil you could want in the kitchen to enormous televisions and every dvd you could want. There were 2 canoes which we used and we felt the lake belonged to us alone. So few people using it; it was so quiet and blissful. We did a lot of sunrise swimming. Rai Bianchi was great from the moment i contacted him to possible rent it. There is a manager 20 minutes away, who never minded if we rang to ask how something worked.
And then of course, you have all that Acadia has to offer - all within a very short distance.
Without reservation, this is the best holiday home I have ever rented. Thank you Rai

Fabulous home with breathtaking views
What a treat it was to stay in this lovely home! Completely stocked, very clean, lots of space, unbelievable sound system, lots of room to spread out, great dock to hang out on, jump off of, fish from, etc. Fabulous layout. We are big on cooking (even on vacation) and this kitchen did not disappoint. The loons on the lake were just amazing to hear in the mornings and then watching them from the deck was so relaxing. Could not have asked for a more spectacular view. The owners are extremely helpful, as well as very prompt and responsive to any need of their guests. We have wanted to stay here for a few years and finally found a weekend that worked for us - it was well worth the wait. We will definitely be planning another vacation here next year!

A view that can not be matched.
The house was meticulous and had everything you could possibly need. The view could not be matched and the setting of the home is just perfect. We had easy access to all of Arcadia Park yet got to return back to a peaceful, relaxing home. We sat outside for breakfast and watched the eagles catch fish in the lake. Loved taking the canoes out on this spectacular lake and one of the hikes we enjoyed most was along Long Pond. They thought of everything you could need and were very helpful with any questions and guidance on places to go. There was a lovely basket with jam and fruits and I felt I stayed in a home where we were welcome. Of all the views in Arcadia Park which were spectacular we were in awe of the view off of the deck and dock of this house. Could not have been better.

Most Wonderful
My wife and I rented many vacation homes over the years, this rates as one of the best. Everything you need is there, even a power strip to charge your electronics. The house is beautiful and the view is awesome. When we had any questions we got replies right away before we came up. It was a pleasure dealing with the owners, and Den the care taker. We plan to come up in 2018 for 2 weeks this time we only hope we can get this place again. I would recommend this place to anyone. Tom, Pam, Brenda

Wow. Just wow!
This is a wonderful home with an incredible view and a great location. The owner has spent a lot of time thinking of how to make this a totally stress free vacation. The home is immaculate. So many thoughtful touches - clearly a labor of love. We drank our coffee on the patio in the AM, followed by some paddling along the lake (biking most afternoons on the park loop), drinks by the lake watching the stars! Heaven. Situated between Southwest Harbor and Bar Harbor - easy to scoot over to Sawyers for any food we needed. We have already booked our return for next year.

Best place on the lake!
We have been staying on Long Pond for 15 plus years and have always looked up at the house on the bluff dreaming that some day we might stay there. Well this year a week opened up and our dream came true! The cabin is comfortable and well laid out. Plenty of bathrooms and places to sleep. The kitchen and bathrooms are well equipped. Also many places to gather in large or small groups throughout the house and property. AND THE VIEW IS BEYOND DESCRIPTION!! This is not a million dollar view, it is a billion dollar view. A most enjoyable and relaxing stay. It was very hard to leave and go home.

Unbelievable!
The pictures are a great attempt at trying to show what it is like to be here. But nothing can really do it justice, no words, no video, no pictures. If you are coming to Mount Desert Island there will not be a better place to stay. I have been coming to MDI for 20 yrs, and nothing can compare. The house has everything you need to keep you comfortable and entertained for the duration of your stay. You will be able to enjoy the full Maine experience right from this location. If you want to hit the major tourist spots (Cadillac Mt, Acadia, hiking, biking, fishing, the ocean, Bar Harbor) it is all just minutes from your door. But the view you see every day and the seclusion is unmatched. Put this place on your must do list.

Outstanding Vacation Home
Every part of this experience was outstanding. The house was well kept, clean, and stocked with everything one would need. The location and views were perfect. The communications with the owner were great, timely, helpful and prompt. The payment process was easy. Bottom line: I would highly recommend this vacation home to anyone.

Serene Maine Get-Away with All the Luxuries
We are repeat renters of this lovely home, with its elevated view over Long Pond and the signature Acadian rounded "bubble" mountains. The lake's edge and a spacious dock/float are just steps away down the hillside, while the house is atop the ridge, providing a mesmerizing view of the lake, hills, sky and clouds and the ever-changing light. The neighboring houses are not visible, and the lake is very quiet when we are there in the fall, so we feel like we have this peaceful haven to ourselves. There are many nice restaurants just a short drive away, but the well-equipped kitchen makes it tempting to stay "home" and savor the superb view while whipping up dinner and sitting down to enjoy it. The house is light and airy and snug, and comfortably furnished, with interesting books, games, videos and a large-screen TV. The natural beauty of Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park is all around you, and we are still discovering new areas to explore. In the fall, the changing colors of the leaves are breathtaking, and often reflected in the many lakes on the island. There are dozens of hiking trails (leisurely to more strenuous), waterfalls, verdant mountain forests, seacoasts, meadows, canoeing/kayaking ---it's hard to choose where to spend the day--and we often take a picnic lunch. But no matter where we go, it is always delightful to return to the comfort of the cottage and just relax. And the outside deck is a superb place to position a telescope to see the moon and planets at night.
The house is very well equipped--the only thing we bring in is food and beverages. The appliances are up-to-date--I like the washer/dryer better than my own at home. The beds are comfortable and everything is always very clean. The property manager is attentive and responsive if you need him, but otherwise leaves you to enjoy your stay. The owner is a delightful and gracious gentleman, very prompt and efficient with the reservations, helpful with information about the island and the house, has a wonderful sense of humor, and, even though I've never met him, I think of him as my host and friend. I would wholeheartedly recommend this property....but only to people that I know would tend it lovingly!!

Shangri-la
We had a family reunion here for Labor Day week and it was incredible. The house is spacious, clean, uncluttered, and homey. The large screen TV in the living room made for wonderful movie nights, and the fully stocked kitchen lent itself to some memorable lobster feasts out on the deck. But the piece de resistance - the most incredible thing about this property - is its prime location at the top of Long Pond, with quite possibly the most breathtaking views of any lakehouse on Mt. Desert Isle. In the mornings, at sunset, on sunny days, on rainy days - it will take your breath away. The convenient dock allows for some nice relaxation, and the water is clear, crisp, and very swimming-friendly. We used the canoe, which comes with the rental, plus an extra canoe so the family could go out on the lake together. We had such a memorable week, and the owner and super were so helpful and professional. We loved it so much that, while we were there, we booked again for the same week the following year! Now, just another countdown until we visit again...

Stunning
From our very first contact with the owner of this property, our experiences were all we could have hoped for. First, the location - Long Pond is serene, beautiful and close to all we love about Acadia National Park. The home is breathtaking - built on a hill looking south over Long Pond, the deck has spectacular views, the layout is open and full of natural light, the hardwood floors are well maintained, the beds are comfortable, and the amenities ample. We weren't there during the summer swimming season, but the lake and dock were very inviting. The owner, Rai, and the caretaker were very attentive and helpful and went out of their way to make us feel at home. We hope to return very soon.

Tranquil Home on Long Pond
I just don't know where to start. I could write a story book of our spectacular time at this vacation home.
I would highlight several points:
1) Outstanding location to relax away from the hustle & bustle of Bar Harbor. We felt like we were the only ones on this island. It's beautifully nestled/perched on Northern Nook Island. Although we were surrounded by homes, where we could not even see them the whole time.
2) Outstanding accommodations. We had everything we needed from comfortable beds, ample room to move about with 6 adult and 1 child, and plenty of bathrooms for all of us to get ready at the same time without running out of hot water... :), I would also add they had all the kitchen wares to allow us to have a great "New England Clam Bake/Lobster" meal and
3) Outstanding caretaker. He was available whenever we needed something, which was on just two occasions.
Best of all, Mr. Bianchi "Owner" was so so attentive to our needs. He wanted to make sure that we had a fabulous time in his family's vacation home. Kudos to him for accommodating our outdoor activity to use some canoes from a nearby business, considering Maine had a tremendous wind storm that came through and ripped apart their dock where we could not use their dock and canoe.
We would definitely return to "Top O' The Ridge" Home. We have even contemplated in coming again for a winter vacation and definitely another fall vacation.
Thank you, Mr. Bianchi!
