authentic Karoo farmhouse in beautiful location
nothing to dislike

We enjoyed the farm stay. The cottage is located on a working farm with friendly dogs, chicken and geese. Watermill cottage was comfortable and has everything one needs for a stay. We loved the resident cat visiting us ❤️.
Watching the stars at night in the Karoo is special.
The outside door did not lock. Being city slickers we are used to locking up everything. Took a bit getting used to it.
4.5
Fully offgrid with all the luxury.. Birdlife lovely in evenings outstanding. All facilities where executed with nature in mind.
Nothing really, but steps down to the braai should be mentioned not for older folks.Luckily i do not fall in the category, there are nice rails though.

Had a fabulous one night stay. Could have stayed for the weekend. It is a really working farm feel. With plenty of wondering chickens, geese, dogs & cats but all very friendly & respectful of your space and privacy. We stayed in an old barn which was cosy and comfortable. There are no shops near by so make sure you bring food provisions etc for your stay. Our hostess very kindly did this as we arrived on bicycles & then I was able to reimburse her upon our arrival. Will be back that is for sure!
Being in a thatched barn there was a bit of dust, so if you have allergies just take note of this. The window in the bathroom was broken so let in a breeze but again didn't bother us enough to ruin the stay.

Shower drain was not cleaned.
Holes in floor.

It was a lovely setting off the beaten track. We had a pleasant stay in a rustic house. There were lovely walks and it is a birders paradise - do not forget your binoculars! Living off the grid is a different experience.

Didn't include breakfast.
Location was perfect for our needs as we were visiting residents in the town.
Homely and rustic, yet the cottage had all the amenities necessary, especially in the kitchen department!
Enjoyed the attention to detail such as little 'decor' bits and pieces and cutest windows and trimmings.
Perhaps more signage to the property within the town.
4.5
Characterful, comfortable and clean. Amazing location and views
Nothing at all

We had the wonderfully restful short stay on this beautiful farm in paradise. Really cozy with everything we needed. Russel is a most welcoming host. Highly recommended for a complete break from the mad world.

self catering cottage. The kitchen is well equiped and I enjoyed using the gas stove and making food.
a small gas heater would've helped a lot as it was very cold. I could've used it in the bathroom and also bedroom when putting on my ice cold clothes. I did'nt like waking up at 5am by the rooster crowing but fortunately I had wax earplugs.

It was a wonderful and peaceful stay! I shall go back again in future!

I liked the farm atmosphere and the fact that I could not use my cellphone!🤣 The cosiness of the Miller's House and the silence during the evening. It was good to hear the cock announcing the new day.
Absolutely no complains!

Quaint cottage near Van Wyksdorp. Very friendly and accommodating host, who gave us some interesting history of the area and showed us a working watermill on the farm!
4.5
The location on a farm with a lovely walk to the waterfall in the mountains. The interaction with all sorts of animals on the farm.
The double bed can be improved. One tends to roll to the centre

The place was outstanding, clean and comfortable however although the place was wheelchair friendly inside the terrain was not so I spent my time indoors. The view is so pretty so being indoors was not too bad.
Russell and Penny were very warm people.
Just could have been a little more wheelchair friendly outside. Otherwise there was nothing to not like.

Perfect quiet get-away. Considerate host. Lovely farm animals/pets. Good walk. Near game farms. Lovely mountain passes.
Make sure you bring what you need; it is self-catering! And nearby shop facilities ain't great.
4.0
The simplicity and quietness
