We had a lovely stay—we travelled back in time being there and loved it. Delightful!

We loved the history surrounding the hotel. Pat and Mike (and Oliver) were the perfect hosts.

Location strongly recommended

A very warm welcome from the host. We were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness overall. Friendly atmosphere, we always enjoyed a night drink at the bar.

Hotel einwandfrei, Umgebung ein wenig trostlos.

Die Gastgeber waren sehr freundlich und haben uns noch viele Tipps für die Weiterreise gegeben. Frühstück steht für Selbstbedienung zur Verfügung. In Gehdistanz gibt es ein gutes Seafood-Restaurant.

Die Ortschaft ist leider sehr heruntergekommen und vernachlässigt. Mehr oder weniger Sprungbrett zur Stewart Island.

Sehr freundliche Gastgeber

Die Hotelbesitzer sind sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Wir haben hier vor unserer Überfahrt mit der Fähre nach Stewart Island übernachtet. Der Anleger ist zu Fuß in 10 Minuten erreichbar und wir durften kostenlos unser Auto für die Zeit unseres Aufenthaltes auf Stewart Island auf dem Hotelparkplatz abstellen.

Mike was very friendly and went out of his way to make sure his guests were comfortable.

It is a lovely Art Deco building. It was situated across the road from the ferry terminal and close to bars and restaurants.

Hotel is fine for overnight budget accommodation.

Hosts were friendly & helpful. Hotel clean but quite basic facilities.

Bluff itself is not particularly attractive or a holiday destination in itself (unless you’re into shark cage diving, apparently)

Enjoyable stay!

Very friendly an hospitable staff/owners. Heaters on in our room prior to checking in. Good location.

Room was a bit small but you could say it was cosy :)

Friendly hosts, comfortable rooms, Good Value

The hosts are very welcoming and friendly and the rooms are comfortable. The owners are working hard to renovate an older property. There are rooms with an en suite bath, and others that access a shared bath. We had the latter and it was fine, but be sure to reserve the room with your choice. It is a good value and an economical place to stay on the way to or from Stewart island.

The neighborhood is in an older, working waterfront section of Bluff. It is not in a touristy "beach resort" area, but does have a nice walk along the waterfront and an excellent restaurant nearby.

It's a shame that the view from the front is taken by a condemned industrial building, but it's just a stones throw from the Stewart Island ferry terminal, food shops and hotel. Even dive with the Sharks Office is just down the road.

Superb

We were made very welcome. We arrived late but were still welcomed. We also thought we had a problem with locking the car just before leaving for the Stewart Island ferry. The hotel owners couldn't have been more helpful, they took our baggage so it would be safe and then while we were waiting for the ferry worked out what the problem was and came to tell us so we wouldn't worry. Other bonuses are being able to leave a car at the hotel while on Stewart Island and that breakfast is provided. The ferry terminal is just a few minutes walk away.
