About this house rental
Our home, the last house on a point of land, has been our peaceful summer retreat since 1986. Decks on both sides afford both an east and west view of the water. The rocky shoreline has a few sandy places for sunbathing and swimming depending on the changing of the tide. We enjoy harbor seals, blue herons, osprey, geese, gulls, and we occasionally see bald eagles!
The interior has a comfortable, open floor plan downstairs with full bath and laundry. On the second floor there are two bright, queen bedrooms, a twin bedroom, an office area with a day bed and a full bath. Two of the bedrooms open directly onto the balcony which makes it possible to lie abed and view the water beyond.
In addition to the usual amenities, we leave the kitchen stocked with spices, condiments, baking ingredients and canned goods with the understanding that whomever uses the last of anything replaces it for incoming guests. There is high speed wireless internet and basic cable.
Our best recommendation is that folks keep coming back. Check out our guest reviews! PLEASE NOTE: From June 1 to October 1, we STRONGLY prefer weekly rentals which begin and end on the weekend.

We loved our stay. The ocean is right on the property and it felt like we are staying at home. The place has everything we need to cook and great internet speed.
Watching the Tide change and water come up was fun.

I would not know how to begin to describe this property other than more than we anticipated. To be surrounded by woods and water is magical to those of us who appreciate God's beauty. We were there during full moon and it was amazing. The experience of the causeway was interesting to watch and provided us with humor and memories. Communication with the owner was great...very responsive and great at solving any issue you might experience. To wake up every morning and look at the view both in the back of the home and the front of the home makes you not want to leave for any reason, however there is much to explore in the area. Very close by at is Wolfe Neck State Park. We have been coming to Freeport, Maine area for many years and can not believe it took us so long to find this place of such beauty!.

The owners home is just lovely. They were very communicative and answered any and all questions.
Its location to Freeport is just a few minutes away but when on the property you feel like you are world's away from anything.
Home is something special with outstanding views in all directions and access to the ocean just yards away.
We look forward to going back.

Incredibly special setting - views of the water on both sides. Amazing changes with the tides. Beautiful birdsong. We definitely enjoyed getting cozy by the wood stove - especially after a bit of kayaking in the rain on Sunday. All of the hosts' recommendations - bakery, grocery store, kayak rentals - were great. What a perfect place to enjoy being in Maine to celebrate graduation. (Bowdoin campus only 20 minutes away.) Well stocked kitchen - generous hosts. Hope to return in the future!

If you like views of the water, this is the place for you! It’s on the tippy tip of a peninsula jutting out of Freeport — very cool in both senses. The house is beautifully stocked & very comfortable. What’s not to love?

Beautiful location and a warm, inviting home. Had everything you may need for a family vacation! We saw lots of local wildlife and watched Ospreys preparing their nest. Communication with the owners was excellent and they were easy to contact. You cannot beat the location. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We would definitely recommend!!

This property is one of a kind. We arrived just after dark on a raw night in October. Just driving down the point as the land narrowed and the ocean pressed in from both sides was an experience. It was windy and the leaves were swirling around in the air and you could smell the ocean that surrounded you on all sides. The lamp post was like a beacon in the dark and walking through the front door felt like a transition into another time and place. The house had so much warmth to it as if the walls could speak the memories of times past. Beautifully decorated and very clean with detailed instructions on how to use everything so that your visit can go smoothly and comfortably. Being someone that likes to cook I always bring supplies with me. I can honestly say, they had everything. Including great knives for meal prep. We enjoyed sunrises with a hot cup of coffee every morning on the deck, and sunsets at night on the rocks of the point. Followed by a fire in the stove and music through the bluetooth speaker. Sailboats, eagles, herons, seals. It was absolutely perfect. The owners were easy to communicate with and very responsive and accommodating. We will definitely go back to "Thea" .

Pictures cannot accurately portray the location of this property. I have never been to someplace with a location like this. You are literally on a secluded island. The views are breathtaking. It is so peaceful and quiet, but yet only takes a couple minutes to get into town where there are tons of restaurants, shops, etc. My children LOVED playing outside - walking the beach to collect sea glass playing on the swings, it was magical. The house worked great for our group of young kids, parents, and grand parents. More than enough room for all of us and the many things kids come with. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the WiFi in the house - my oldest is in Kindergarten this year (virtually) and we had no problem connecting with his class and submitting assignments while we were there. Communication with the owners was wonderful. We were arriving late (2:00AM) and they made sure that there were lights left on for us and checked in with us in the morning to make sure everything was OK. Overall, I can't say enough good things. We all loved our stay, made wonderful memories, and hope to be guests again in the near future!

The property is beautiful, and the location is close to town, but you feel isolated. Just like we like it. Wish we could have stayed longer. Loved walking the beach at low tide and looking for "treasure".

This property was exactly as advertised and rated: outstanding for those who like the serenity of a waterfront home that is fully appointed. The owners were very helpful throughout booking and during our stay. The house has very good instructions on everything mechanical and electrical, as well as very clear and fair "do's" and "don'ts". Kitchen was well stocked with anything one might want to use, including lots of usable condiments, oils, coffee and even some food(like ice cream) that one could take on an honor basis, ie, replace what you use.

We had a wonderful time at Thea! My children loved being able to just walk out the door and explore the tide pools and look for crabs and beach glass. We saw seals out on the rocks at the end of the point two of the mornings we were there. It is a perfect location, you are close to town yet you can come back to a little hide away in the woods.

Part of me wants to keep this treasure a secret. Not only is this a perfect place to be; the owners are wonderful to deal with. Not one negative comment to be made. Very happy with our stay.

Girls weekend away. My friends and I loved our time at Thea. A beautiful home with incredible views from every window of Casco Bay. We loved how peaceful it was and how comfortable we felt at Thea. A wonderful place to get away and enjoy nature at its best. Mark and Carol were very responsive to questions, which was appreciated. Thank you Mark and Carol for sharing your home with us. We loved it!

“Home Away” is exactly the right description of Thea, the house we have rented for the past five years at the far reaches of Freeport, Maine. Casual, comfortable, private, fully stocked, it demands little more than that its occupants enjoy their stay. As the last house on a peninsula jutting into Casco Bay, it also offers much more than a house: water views from every window; a lovely, cooling breeze; tides lapping at the rocky shore; and wildlife enough to keep nature lovers happy—harbor seals, horseshoe crabs, wildflowers, ospreys, terns, cormorants, and other waterfowl aplenty. Even a porcupine, which ambles by to spend the day in the woods between the house and the point! Although the owners succeed in providing the amenities of home for a satisfying vacation experience for their tenants, it can also be said that the very location of Thea alone goes far in doing that.
Having said all that, we do hope our praise does not send vacationers flocking to the house, for we would miss our opportunity to return.

My family absolutely loved this house. It is in a great location. The pictures couldn't do this place a justice. We were lucky to see amazing sunset for the three days we stayed. Thea has an amazing deck which leads to the waters. The neighbors are awesome and it's a very peaceful area. The kitchen was fully equipped with all the utensils we needed and the bedrooms. To add to the great scenic location, Thea is very close to downtown Freeport. We would definitely book Thea again in the future. Other than that the owners are very communicative and readily available. Instructions about the house are very clear.
