Lovely room 43 with 4 poster bed and lovely views . Staff great and friendly. Restaurant very busy in evening --full both nights . They had an excellent restaurant manager ,cant remember his name but it was something like Sofin . He was totally in control of the restaurant and it was so obvious to us that he had total respect from his staff . He was there when any junior waiter/waitress were under pressure and helped and guided them . Customers he was always willing to chat to them .Food good especially the proper kippers at breakfast
Nothing really

Restaurant, beautiful old hotel
Needs a bit of an update (carpets) but otherwise quite nice!

The hotel's view, cleanliness, wonderful guest reception, everything was great. I would especially like to thank the lady who works at the reception, Ms. Ann, for her attention and concern, and of course for her friendly greeting of customers. I have already added her to my list of hotels that I will definitely visit again at the first opportunity.

Lovely big and old hotel type building. Pleasant area not far from Oban central
1) Room is essentially a cupboard, toilet within room is a cupboard within a cupboard, with Louvre doors on a bathroom !!! not good, smells etc. Rusty/Dirty marks around toilet sink area. Also, a be was in the room when I arrived and had to open window, although no indication of how to open it. Asked staff member who didn't know either, so I said I'd endeavor with it to try and open it. Took a faff around with it until it opened from the top. Additionally, shared shower room was untidy, towels strewn on floor from previous person who used it. So it wasn't cleaned after use. Then on morning of exit, shower would not work properly, with little pressure for hot water (maybe due to consumption of entire building in the morning),. So a partially cold shower. Then bar, a cold lager was purchased (Tennents) which was lacklustre. Have not had a pint in a few years and it wasn't nice, flat. I also helped some guests from other countries with their suitcases up two flights. There is no escalator. That's an issue for people who may require one. Smaller Guest Houses/B&Bs etc are more personal than the larger chain or corporate accommodation businesses, so I'd advise people to look for smaller, more personalable places first. Would I stay again ? Not really. It's a lovely old building etc but more effort needed.

Fabulous setting and away from the bustle of Oban. Dinner was very good and so was breakfast, staff were very good and particularly friendly.
Style is somewhat old fashioned but it does make the place interesting.

Hard to comment on positive this time round.
The front of house service / woman was negative and miserable. The breakfast was shocking for a Scottish full breakfast, especially the uncooked toast and frozen sausage at best, and one of each item was tight. The "bistro" was lacking variety and couldn't eat more than one meal here due to choice on menu. Also, there is nowhere to sit inside and chill with a drink since last stay it's changed, but the fact the hotel is on volcano heat level all the time even in cold weather is uncomfortable for sure. Not family friendly either. Also, stairs for elderly there's no help offered to room. On many occasions, residents are unable to book a table to eat if they arrive late. Unstaffed and badly managed for sure for the price of rooms.

Friendly and helpful receptionist on arrival. The room was clean and comfortable and had everything I needed. Having a bath as well as a shower was nice, and toiletries were included. It was a cool evening, but the little radiator was easy to operate and warmed the room up nicely. There was a good range of options for breakfast, and the waitress was very friendly and helpful.
Everything was great. The only one thing that wasn't clear was that the receptionist told me breakfast was from 8am, but they would have some food ready at 7.30am. When I came down at 7.30am, the dining room seemed empty, and there was a sign which just said 'breakfast from 8am', so I went back to my room to wait. I didn't realise that there were multiple parts to the dining room, and there were people and breakfast items further into the dining room, and it also said on the menu about the 'early riser options from 07.30'. It would have been helpful if this was noted on the sign outside the dining room, or in the welcome booklet in the room, as it wasn't clear to me initially if breakfast at 07.30 was just an informal thing they might be able to do, or an actual official option. Only a minor issue though!

Historical hotel, room was spacious and comfortable. Restaurant in hotel was also used by the townspeople which is nice to be around! The restaurant is family owned and we were waited on by a very cute, well trained pre-teen young man!

Beautiful Victorian era hotel with very nice common areas, restaurant and breakfast space as well. The staff was very efficient and kind. The place is a social hub to some of the locals which adds a fine additional element to the charm of the place.
The room was very small but comfortable. It did the job.

Very good communication after booking late due to a ferry cancellation, and needing a very late checking which was not a problem. Excellent breakfast served very efficiently and lovely gardens to explore.
Nothing. Arriving late, and a full car park meant it was not obvious where to park - but there was space once we found it.
