My family consisting of 6 adults and 3 children under 13 has a fun two weeks in Door County. The house is a brief walk to the beach ( not for people with mobility issues) and it is a wonderful large quiet beach on Lake Michigan. The kiddos were in heaven. The house had plenty of room for us to spread out and was well equipped with plenty of items to enjoy including a pool table and several televisions. The kitchen was also well equipped with everything you might need To prepare a meal We enjoyed the house and the large kitchen table where we could enjoy a meal together or the outside deck which also has a patio table to enjoy the weather. We also enjoyed being able to access the
state park right at the end of the street

Lovely house with nice facilities. Could hear the waves from the lake with the windows open. Beach is gorgeous. Access to the beach may be a challenge if you have mobility problems or small children. Steep drive to walk up and down as well. Overall very pleasant and enjoyable stay and would return and also recommend.

Fred's home is truly paradise. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our quiet mornings (before the kids woke up), sipping coffee and taking in the breathtaking view from the beach. The kitchen, adorned with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the picturesque woods, made breakfast a delightful experience. The natural beauty of the surroundings, including woodpeckers, deer, turkeys, cardinals, and bluejays, captivated us for hours as we relaxed on the wrap-around deck. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, ensuring restful nights. Being able to see the sunrise through the trees from the master bedroom was breathtaking! When we were not off exploring hiking trails, eating ice cream, or relaxing on the beach, we entertained ourselves with ping pong in the game room or reading in their charming sitting room. All five of us shared the sentiment of how much we adored Fred's house, making it the most memorable family vacation we have ever had. We can't wait to get back there next summer!

A great stay
This home was a wonderful place for our family vacation in Door County. The sandy beach across the street was convenient and private, and you’re surrounded by miles of trails to hike and explore. The owners were responsive and friendly- a great stay.

Lovely house with ready access to a beautiful beach. My wife children, grandkids and dogs had a great time inside and out. Getting to the beach is a bit of an adventure rewarded with a beautiful beach. Fred, the owner, was great.

Family vacation
This was the 3rd year my family has stayed at this property. It easily accommodated the 7 adults and 6 children in our group. It is a lovely home in a more than lovely environment. Just a short walk to a private beach, but close enough to hear the waves crash on the shore from the deck. We will be back!

Beautiful beach and plenty of family space
A group of family and friends really enjoyed our time at this property. Then each was gorgeous and the home had plenty of room for our group. The private path to the beach was a bit longer rougher than we had expected which was difficult for the smaller kids, but the clean soft sand made it all worthwhile.

Fabulous Family vacation!
We loved this home! A beautiful woodsy setting, comfy and large enough for our family group of 12. The beach was really fantastic with kayaking and paddle board rentals adding to the fun. Fred and his wife were superb hosts, very responsive and a great source of local information. Hope to come again!

A Wonderful Getaway
We were looking forward to this weekend getaway for a long time. The house had more than enough room for our entire family to spread out. It was also very clean. The beach was just a short walk from the driveway. It was a cool and windy weekend but walking the beach was a perfect way to relax and enjoy nature. When it rained one of the nights, we held a family ping pong tournament. It was an amazing house and a relaxing retreat from our normal daily life!

Family vacation
It is difficult to find a place for my whole family to gather for a week. This beautiful home was perfect. There are large rooms to gather everyone, as well as smaller spaces for a quiet conversation. We have stayed here twice and hope to come again next year. The secluded wooded setting is perfect and it is just a short walk to the beach.

Door County Magic!
My girlfriend and I spent the weekend at Fred's beautiful property in Door County over Memorial Day Weekend. Fred couldn't have been more hospitable or accommodating. He was accessible by text message for all of our (MANY!) questions, from everything from where to find the wine opener to how to access the beach to where to go find the best bratwursts in town. It's a beautiful, spacious property in a beautiful, friendly neighborhood, and just steps from a gorgeous, private beach. We'll definitely be back!

Private and Secluded - just what we wanted!
Beautiful, unique home built in a private, secluded area bordering the State Park. Lots of windows and great views. We had a blast playing games in the Rec Room and relaxing by the fireplace. A very responsive rental manager who provided some nice gifts upon our arrival and gave us a late checkout! We can't wait to come back next year.

The location is incredible with great views of the Whitefish Dunes park from every room in the home - there are lots of big windows and skylights. Fred was very responsive and accommodating. We will be back!!

A Fun and Relaxing Getaway in Door County
My sister rented this place for my birthday. What a great present in an absolutely beautiful area of Door County. This a unique location (on the border of a State Park) and a spacious house that was very comfortable for our 3 families. We hiked on the park trails and took long walks on the beach but we spent most of the time just hanging out in this gorgeous home. There are awesome views of the evergreen and birch trees from every room. We loved the fireplace - it made our stay cozy. We played dozens of games of ping pong. Our kids loved the whirlpool tub. I liked sleeping under the stars in the Master Bedroom with the skylight above. I would highly recommend this home and beautiful area for families that are looking for something special and unique. I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday present. We are looking forward to returning again in the Spring.

Not worth the amount charged!
This is a beautiful location and the stars were amazing. However, here are our concerns: the value for the charge is NOT there. We’ve stayed in many vrbos and have never before written a negative review. We feel we made a mistake trusting the description. It is very outdated and feels/is dirty. We also had to pay an additional $300 extra person fee even though we had a total of 2 people stay the first night and 8 the other 2 nights. Some of the ladies bowed out between April and October. He would not refund the extra person charge and instead gave us “linen and cleaning service” (he said firewood too. There was none inside, but we found some outside)?” There were not enough sheets for the beds. As is, 16 would definitely not fit comfortably. The futon upstairs is out in the open and like a table. One of the 3 bedrooms is more for kids- bunk bed. I slept in the pull out in the ping pong room. TV would not work - not strong enough WiFi.
Cleanliness was a huge concern: the fireplace was almost unusable because the ashes had not been cleaned out in quite some time. I couldn’t find a scoop to do it myself. There was a dirty, crusty towel hanging on the towel bar in one of the bathrooms and a used washcloth on the faucet in the same bathroom. There were water stains on the mattress pad of the bunkbed. We went to use a blanket from the linen closet and grass fell out of it. A balloon hanging from the ceiling fan, lots of dust, etc. Had we paid a reasonable price, some of that could be overlooked. As is, I feel horrible for booking this place and making the ladies pay what we did - it was not worth it. A hotel would’ve been a lot cheaper, cleaner, and probably more comfortable. This place has excellent potential but desperately needs some updates before it becomes dilapidated. And a better cleaning service would also be beneficial. I do have photos of some of our concerns. We really hope you can resurrect this place!

Unique retreat!
Such a fun unique property! We loved spending time in the lookout tower and cuddled up by the fire. A short bike ride can get you to cave point as well which was fantastic! Fred was easy to work with and accomodiating.

Great Host & Great Location; Would Recommend
We stayed at the Sand Dunes with our family of 4 and our friends' family of 4. It was spacious and enjoyable. Fred was a great host and quickly answered my multitude of questions. Overall, I would recommend this home.
PROS: Fantastic location, lovely home, wonderful indoor fireplace - which was great for fall. The home was spacious, close to the beach and had great walking trails into the state park.
CONS: We brought our own sheets to avoid the linen charge, this was fine, but a lot of work. I was well aware of this ahead of time but it is a hassle and I would prefer a home with linen's included. I would have loved to see this home in it's heyday (90's). The architecture is phenomenal and you can tell care went into building it. Today, the insides could use an uplift. Nothing is functionally wrong, but the carpet is tired, the woodwork is stained, the furniture is older, and the floors have seen better days. None of these, however, interfered with our great trip and, again, Fred was a responsive host! Thanks!

Beautiful Home and Great Location
We enjoyed our stay a great deal. The location of the home was awesome - just like renting a home built within a park. We loved making fires in the fireplace and the outside fire pit. Our kids spent most of the time playing in the game room. The adults hung out in the kitchen and great room. We all enjoyed the great views of the park that seem to surround the entire house. It was a perfect get-away and there was plenty of room for our family of 12. The owner was very responsive, nice and accommodating.

Labor Day Weekend Getaway
We stayed here for LDW with 3 couples, including 2 toddlers and an infant. Good space for hanging out, playing games, cooking, etc. Large comfy couch and large kitchen table, so good for groups. We enjoyed the back deck and short walk down to the beach. We did pay extra for linens and towel service, which I think could be improved if we were to stay here again. Some linens had stains on them and the master bedroom set that was provided did not fit the size of the mattress.

Itchy
The owner needs to let people know there is poison ivy in all the surrounding woods around the property. Three in our party came down with it. There are also snakes with one being five feet long. Would have been nice to know about that. Otherwise the property is nice and the owner was easy to work with.

Beautiful beach
So nice to be at a property that accepts dogs and is adjacent to a dog-friendly state park and beach. Access to the beach is private and proximate, but not a level walk for anyone with physical limitations. Best-stocked kitchen I’ve seen in a rental. Beds are very comfy and parking is plentiful. Family-friendly with high chair pack-and-play available. Very quiet.

Peaceful surroundings with very quiet neighbors. Beach is a short walk on a path through the woods. Lots of trees everywhere.

We have been staying at the "Dream Home" the past three Summers. Our family of 8 loves staying at this rental because of the beautiful home, the huge windows that offer spectacular views, the comfortable furniture, the ping pong table in the recreation room, the crow's nest, the beautiful sand beach and the Whitefish Dunes State Park trails. We have stayed at several places in Door County over the years but this house and location has become our favorite. The rental manager is very responsive and we can always expect a squeaky clean place upon our arrival. If you enjoy the “quiet side” of Door County be sure to check this place out. The prime time rental rates are fairly expensive BUT weeks in early June and late August are heavily discounted!

My family and I stayed at Fred's home this past Thanksgiving weekend and had a wonderful time. The location of the house was amazing right on the sand dunes at the edge of the state park and views of Lake Michigan from the windows. We had our two golden retrievers with us and they had a blast - lots of room to roam and wonderful trails for walking one door down from the house. The fire pit capped off our wonderful weekend, great times were had by all.

Dream Home in Door County is near the beach, restaurants, parks, wineries, and shopping, but also offers a quiet setting to relax and contemplate.
This is the second time our family held a mini-reunion at Dream Home–this time with our Italian Greyhound.
Even though we added an extra two days to our weekend, we were still sad to leave.

A group of six women visited Door County in honor of a couple of 60th birthdays. We wanted a space that allowed for each of us to have our own bed and room to gather in the evening with wine and snacks and in the morning with coffee. This was the place! The setting is peaceful - we enjoyed sitting on the deck in the evening as well as hearing the sound of the waves through the night (windows opened). The house is furnished in a casual comfortable manner and the kitchen was well stocked with all we needed. The house was easy to find and allowed easy access to the peninsula. Access to the State park was a bonus.

We have been coming back to our favorite place in Door County for over 10 years now. We have stayed at several other vacation homes through VRBO and HomeAway but this rental stands out for a couple reasons. The owner / rental manager - Fred - is great! He is always very quick to reply to any questions we may have before and during our stay and he is typically very flexible with check in and check out times. The home itself is ideal for big families. There is seating for 12 in the dining / kitchen area. There are also plenty of relaxing places to sit in the great room and adjacent den. Our family spends a good amount of time in the rec room playing ping pong. One of my favorite things about this rental is the location - the house literally borders the Whitefish Dunes State Park - although you will never see anyone from the park. We enjoy the beautiful views of the sand dunes and birch trees off the back deck. We always use the outside fire pit for roasting marshmallows. Our family spends a lot of time hiking the beautiful park trails and the miles of beautiful sand beach. The home is not directly on the water - getting to the beach requires a short walk down a fairly steep driveway followed by a slightly longer walk through the woods. The beach is one of the best in Door County, however, very much worth the 3 minute walk. This house and the amazing location make it an easy choice to return to year after year.
6.0 / 10.0
My family and I stayed at this house and enjoyed the amenities of the home. Very spacious inside. Also a great deck and cool roof top view. Access to the adjacent park was great for walks and exploring. The access to the beach was not convenient as is noted. Although the beach was just across the road, we had to navigate through a treed area with significant climbing needed.
The lake was great but the beach was quite narrow our whole week there. Not sure if this is the case due to significant rain, but not representative of the photos.
Host was very easy to work with
