Perfect place for our family reunion and launching pad for the north shore. Wonderful place! Great for a larger gathering. Nice to be able to be in a mansion and experience a historical place that is kept up well.

We loved the antique style of the house. The number of bedrooms and bathrooms fit our three families so well! The kitchen was well stocked with your basics and the bathrooms and bedrooms had everything we needed. Duluth is a lovely place to explore.

My family stayed at the Hawthorne Manor for a lovely graduation weekend. The house exceeded our expectations. It was spotless, well-stocked, and cozy, and all guests commented on the beds' comfort. We thoroughly enjoyed the location and the multiple sitting rooms to gather in to chat. We also loved our visit in Duluth and hope to return.

We are a group of 11 women (ages 63-75) that get together the same weekend every year. This home was awesome! We all loved staying there; however, there are a few women that prefer staying right on Lake Superior. They missed the sound of the waves. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting a fun experience in a beautiful old home with all of today’s modern conveniences!

The property was amazing! We were a group of mom's that got together to play Bunco when our children were in 1st grade. That was 15 years ago and we are still going strong. Hawthorne Manor was such a wonderful space for us to get together. We loved how we could spread out and each have our own space and access to a bathroom when needed. It is a beautiful home with a wonderful kitchen, dining room, and sun room where we spent a good deal of our time. The grounds are beautiful as well. We enjoyed sitting on the deck in the sun chatting and also hiked on the trails along the creek out back. Thank you Theresa for providing such a lovely place for us to connect and spend quality time together. We will definitely be back! The Bloomington Bunco Beauties

We were in town for Blitz, a teen EFCA conference. This was our first try with the group in a VRBO instead of a hotel. It was a great choice! The students loved it. The house is beautiful and accommodated us perfectly! Very convenient location to the Pier area. Thank you for your hospitality!

Everyone had their own bedroom. We enjoyed the deck, grilled and hiked the trail. Watched the Vikes game on the big screen downstairs.
We enjoyed the Manor.

Our family used the Hawthorne Manor as our residence during our destination wedding in Duluth. We could not have been more pleased with the space for comfort, entertaining small family groups, and as a home base for all wedding related activities. The home is well equipped, and spacious so many people were able to be in separate spaces for different activities. We hosted bouquet building with bridesmaids, grooms pre wedding dressing, brunch for family, and a barbecue for our in town family. Thank you for the amazing experience this space afforded us all. Highest rating possible from me. Wow.

We have stayed at quite a few VRBOs over the years, and this was by far the most beautiful house we've stayed in.. I can not say enough good things about this property! We needed a large house for our family that were all coming in for our daughters college graduation from UMD! We were all able to have our own private room and still able to gather on the patio or inside in the living room, dining room, or library, and the basement has a huge couch with TV and table to play games at.
The house is old and beautiful with tons of character! Location is great as were just a short drive away from local attractions. Wildlife all over - in yards nearby when you go for a walk, deer within feet away from you. And just a short hike behind the house is Congdon Park, with beautiful waterfalls and scenery.
Theresa was great to work with and got back to us in timely matter.
We didn't have to worry about much, the house was well stocked, from... toilet paper, paper towels, coffee filters or salt and pepper. The kitchen was well-stocked with dishes and cookware. Lots of linens and towels-we didn't have to use the same towel the entire time (even though we did!) Lots of dishtowels and dishcloths as well.
Very impressed overall! Thank you for a great stay and lots of great memories made with our family!

Hawthorne Manor had the space, location and ambience we needed for our girl's getaway. As others have commented, the kitchen is so well-stocked we were able to prepare some really great meals and spent lots of time at the dining room table eating, having conversations and playing games. Outside we snowshoed from the yard a short way through the woods to access the Congdon Trail. A real gem to have in the backyard. Mornings were spent in the sunroom sipping coffee and watching deer. Beds were comfy and there was enough hot water for everyone to shower. We can't wait to go back in the summer to take advantage of the large deck and bbq grill.

Hawthorne Manor is a beautifully restored 1914 home with excellent updates that maintain the original character. It easily accommodated our family group of seven adults and 6 children, ages 18 mos to 14 years with room to spare. Everything we needed for adults and kids was there. The clear descriptions and labeling provided by the hosts made everything so easy. The "old service wing" was perfect for the family with the youngest children. The three mid-aged kids had the sleeping porch off the master to themselves. The downstairs family room has lots of space for hanging out and the "way upstairs" would be great for teens. The toddler enjoyed exploring every room and of course needed to be watched in steps! The sun room became the puzzle space, the piano was enjoyed, kitchen was well supplied, the dining room with large table kept everyone together, the workout space was a great bonus too. The hosts provided a great house album with interesting history of the house, its original owners, and changes over the years. The property's outside space was great for the kids too. They tromped around the yard, sledded down the easy slope in the back, and found the old swing at the bottom of the hill. It was great to hike through the property to Congdon Park trail and Tischer Creek, the kids loved tromping on the snowy trails and finding the icy slides up and down the bridge steps in the creek bottom. We enjoyed downhill skiing at Spirit Mountain, fat biking at Hartley Park, and cross country skiing on various Duluth trails. We loved our stay and hope to return for a fall or summer trip so we can enjoy the huge deck as well! Thanks, Theresa and Dave

The property was lovely. A Christmas tree was even provided by the owner to make it festive. We saw deer in the backyard, the driveway accommodated three cars and the location was very easy to find. The heating is old, radiators……the upstairs was very hot and the first floor a little cool. We just adapted, wore sweatshirts downstairs and light blankets upstairs. It was a wonderful adventure for all!

This property was amazing. Super cool historical property in Duluth that was big enough to accommodate our whole family. We loved that we could have a wood fire while playing games with our kids and the property was located close to everything. The host was great to work with, super accommodating and the property was well taken care of. We absolutely would stay her again.
