About this cabin rental
Scandinavian inspired, vintage, and cozy log cabin. Views of Busbee Mountain on an acre at the end of the road…plenty of outdoor space. Sunny retreat is less than 10 minutes from downtown scenic Asheville, Biltmore Estates, and South Slope fun! Less than 2 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway and convenient access from I-40. Easy driveway access, 2 car parking only, Max Occupancy at any time is (4), min rental age is (25). Security camera directed outward to driveway entry access point, located on the driveway arbor, for property security. Sanitized and Clean for your safety.
Fresh mountain air, crisp nights and warm days, outdoor adventures abound, Asheville city cuisine and dining experiences, convenient shopping amenities, situated on charming country road dappled with vintage log homes.
An original architectural gem of Asheville history, Top Knot was built by a local and talented craftsman circa 1920. While this authentic log cabin structure is over 100 years old, and since renovated, it has not lost its originality and charm. Characteristic to historic mountain log cabins, ceilings are low, rooms are cozy, and the structure has comfortably settled into the earth. Of the six log cabins built on this winding road, four still remain, with Top Knot cresting at the top of the hill, and at the end of the road. The cabin has its original stone steps for exterior access, and there is one interior step between the living and bedroom spaces.
Top Knot is built on a large stacked rock foundation, the original logs are chestnut wood species, and the log chinking was carefully packed over galvanized metal lathe wire. Chestnut wood is no longer an available lumber source, due to the chestnut tree blight, which renders the protected tree nearly extinct. Chestnut wood is cherished for its workability, strength, and moisture resistance, likely attributing to the longevity of the cabin.
Situated on a unique one acre setting and superb location to all things Asheville, the log cabin was acquired with the intent to preserve and share with others. With respect for the history of this log cabin, its original namesake (Top Knot) has been rightfully handed down, and now is being shared with you!
During your stay, you may see wildlife, especially due to its close proximity to the blue ridge parkway. Deer forage early mornings and evenings, turkeys gather to peck at grasses, and occasionally a bear (and cubs) could ramble down the mountain. The “wildlife” viewing room, positioned between the living and sleeping areas (the original cabin bedroom), is a perfect place to relax for such sightings.
Please note that this cabin is not located in a remote/quiet setting, but rather within the energy of Asheville, as the city has grown up around this vintage property. There also may be traffic noise during the day, but it does quiet down at night, and is not noticeable inside the cabin. The cabin is at the end of a one lane road. The cabin is a convenient base camp to quickly access downtown Asheville, Biltmore Estates/Village, South Slope breweries, and the blue ridge parkway with area hiking opportunities. If you are looking for an authentic mountain cabin stay, coupled with the city of Asheville energy, this cabin will fit both for a unique experience.

All was as described and perfect for our get away. After strenuous activity each day, we enjoyed the comfortable, clean and attractive cabin. The setting was charming. And, we enjoyed visits from the wild turkey.

The property was great in every way. Clean, close to town, cozy and private. Would certainly stay here again!

Barebones, but recommend overall. Things needing potential attention. Several rooms without any window coverings at all. Ex. bedroom and has door with window (no blind) shower has window chest level (no blind). At night it’s a little weird that these windows can’t be blocked. To be fair there isn’t much around, but it felt weird at night. Also recommend this cabin adding a small Bluetooth speaker to listen to music as there was no capability in the cabin for any music. Overall cute rustic vibe.

Very cozy cabin on a beautiful lot. We loved the fact that it’s a very short drive or Uber (we did both) to downtown Asheville, but yet feels like you are far away from the hustle and bustle when you are at the cabin.

Stayed with my fiance and his parents and we had plenty of room! It was a cozy place to stay while we were taking care of some stuff for our upcoming wedding in Asheville. Julie was an excellent host and very responsive when we heard beeping during the night due to a smoke detector battery dying.

We stayed here the weekend of our wedding. Everything was so clean and cute! We would definitely stay here again

We really enjoy this cabin. It’s clean and has updated amenities. Really good water pressure which was great when it got cold this weekend. The host respond super quickly and is very helpful! It is our second time staying here, and we plan to always stay here when we visit Asheville.

My husband and I enjoyed this house while visiting Asheville! It was secluded and had a mountain cabin feel but at the same time we were close to downtown and Asheville attractions. It was perfect! We would definitely stay here again!

Our visit in this mountain cabin was amazing. It was perfect for relaxing, celebrating, and exploring. The cabin is close to Asheville for our day trips to town and close to hiking trails for our adventure trips. Top Knot is private and beautiful. As a rental, we had everything we needed and the property was clean. Check in and out were a breeze. Highly recommend this VRBO and would stay again.

Wonderful space to reconnect in person with friends! Julie is a really helpful host and has a beautiful retreat setting rental space! A location close to Asheville and booking with a LGBTQ+ friendly host for our friend reunion over my birthday weekend was key and Julie/Julie's rental were a great fit! We would definitely stay again; friendly neighbors, beautiful nature and outdoor retreat, great experience!

The best of both worlds
The location was a perfect balance between urban and rural. It was close to a main road with easy access to downtown and Biltmore Estates, but the property was not in view of other homes. We enjoyed the fire pit each evening while watching the deer come out at dusk to forage.

Nice and convenient
Cabin was so close to Asheville yet we felt secluded and had a peaceful trip. Cabin was very neat and had everything we needed. I would definitely stay here again.

Quaint place with easy access to all the main points of interest
Lovely cabin-like home, close to main roads for downtown area, Biltmore and Grove Park Inn. Mountain view from kitchen and one bedroom, home is situated at the end of a road/driveway.
Navigating the road/driveway can be a challenge in low profile vehicles, and definitely need a 4x4 if weather is snowy/icy.

Great cabin stay in Asheville!
Had a great time in this cabin. Everything was clean and cute. Location was close to almost everything prevalent in Asheville. 10 minutes from downtown and the Biltmore was very nice. You are also not right next to the nearby neighbors, with it being at the end of the road you feel kind of secluded.
Advice for anyone who books this: if you can avoid arriving at night it would be better, it's difficult to see where you're going if it's the first time you've been there. A car with 4 wheel drive would probably also be a good idea especially during the winter months.
Thanks again!

Adorable cottage
This property was immaculate, well stocked with necessities and tucked away on a quiet hillside about 15 minutes from downtown. The property manager was very responsive throughout the entire process.

Good Enough
Echoing previous reviews, locating the property was a little tricky... Would have benefited from more specific instruction. While close to town (by car), it's not walkable or bike-able.
Basic amenities provided (towels, wash cloths, soap, etc.), but would have enjoyed a few extra blankets and basic spices (salt, pepper). No bathtub (listed as bath + shower), but the bathroom decor was lovely and appeared newly renovated.
No check-out instructions provided (took us a bit to figure out how to lock the front door). Additionally, the one remote didn't seem to work (but also didn't appear that we needed it?).
While we would likely not stay here again (mostly due to location), it was clean and quiet, the views were great, the property was charming, and the host was welcoming and responsive! And the neighbor goats were ADORABLE and HILARIOUS.

Property was very clean and just as described.
The property was not available on GPS and is hard to find. Uber drivers had difficulty so that made it hard for transportation to and from Downtown/West Asheville. The areas pretty dark at night, the cabin is pretty secluded.
The cabin was stocked with clean, fresh linens, towels and cleaning supplies (paper products and trash bags. The furnishings were updated and in excellent shape. There weren’t any curtains on the windows in the main living areas so we were a little exposed at night. The WiFi information wasn’t updated and the owner didn’t leave any instructions for check out.
Overall would stay again. A curtain in the main living area, some better outside lighting and displayed checkout instructions/WiFi password would make it perfect!

The cabin was great! It was very secluded, but yet close to all convenience stores and the town!
I would highly recommend this rental to anyone that is looking for a quiet, clean, unique experience! We were able to enjoy the fresh air and open space. We even saw a few wild deer outside the window! Even though it was secluded, I was still able to get my Starbucks every morning only 5 minutes away (driving).

Great location at the end of the road with inspiring views
Very clean and comfortable. Access to town in less than 10 minutes and easy. Need to take your bathroom essentials and coffee etc
Would do it all over again!

Perfect for busy adventures in Asheville
Top Knot is the perfect place to stay if you’re planning a few days or a week in Asheville. The cabin is adorable and clean, perfect size for a family of 4. The location can’t be beat— right off the scenic Blue Ridge Pkwy and close to downtown Asheville. Julie was a wonderful hostess— checking in via email, prompt with a response to something we were in need of, but still respecting of our space. We would definitely recommend staying at Top Knot for your next trip to Asheville, and would stay again ourselves. Thanks Julie, we appreciate you! Say hi to the goats and sheep for us— we’ll definitely miss seeing them!

Perfect family getaway base for exploring Asheville
Just as described and like all of the other reviews, the property was the perfect place for our family of three to explore all Asheville has to offer while also relaxing and enjoying the property. So comfortable, so clean, and everything you need. Julie was incredibly responsive and made everything so easy. My 13-year old daughter and I really loved walking down to love on the goats and sheep. Would definitely stay again. Such easy access to downtown Asheville and so reasonably priced. Thanks so much, Julie!

Comfort and Access
The cabin was homey; private as well as accessible to Asheville and outdoor recreation areas. Very comfortable cabin, to the point where we could have kicked back inside all day if we so chose. The location offered great flexibility as a home base for day-to-day planning and activities. I have stayed in cabins in more remote locations - but that is not what we were looking for in this trip. Nice place with a very responsive host.

This was a fantastic cabin and I would recommend it to everyone. We had a family stay there and it was great to come back to our own place and to be able to relax and make our meals there.

Beautiful Cabin - Great Location
This cabin was fantastic and met all of our needs for our anniversary weekend in Asheville. Every room has a rustic feel with modern touches. You have all the privacy you need and you are literally within 10 minutes of everything there is to do in this area (downtown, Biltmore, Blue Ridge Pkwy, etc). We would definitely stay here again if we come back to Asheville.

Awesome experience
This was the perfect place for the two of us to escape! Julie was great and accommodating! The check in process was so easy. The property was very clean. Although it was not as secluded as we thought, it was still very, very private. On a rare occasion you could here some traffic from 74. We appreciated other amenities like the bedside phone chargers, keypad entrance, and daily essentials (dish soap, paper towels, etc.) The location was great! Can't wait to stay again!
