I had room service and it worked out perfectly. Service with a smile. Breakfast was great.
The price for a solo traveller was excessive. Not in tge basis of my satisfaction with tge hotel. But booking.com didn't offer a reduction for a single traveller. Its your site that overcharged for my booking.

The room was lovely with balcony access. The view would have been wonderful if it had not been raining. even with the rain I loved my stay and went swimming.
The awful smoke alarm goes off when you are having a shower. The steam activates the alarm.

Fabulous location and a really lovely hotel with views from all rooms and especially the dining/breakfast room.
Evening meal was lovely and they were able to accommodate us at short notice.
Breakfast choices were limited for vegetarians and the way it was served from a serving trolley did not feel freshly made, especially the eggs. I was not made aware of other choices apart from fried eggs.

The location of the dining room was excellent right at the edge of the water. Breakfast was the cold fry.
Room was freezing had to ask for the heating to be put on. Room didn't heat up for ages. Went to pool changing room floors so wet you would have needed Wellingtons, told on arrival at the pool entrance we could avail of all the facilities including steam room and sauna. We entered the steam room to find 2 plastic chairs and no steam. Encountering a local lady she told me the steam room hardly ever worked so the woman at the pool reception would have known that. We went to the restaurant for dinner. Food nice service deplorable. We still don't know if they served puddings or not as no one came to see if our food was ok or lift our dinner plates and after waiting for 20 mins or so we just left. On our departure the next morning the receptionist was just about able to lift her head to accept our key not once asking did we enjoy our stay.

Evening meal was exceptional & breakfast was lovely with fabulous ocean view. Bar & Restaurant Staff we’re amazing.
The Receptionists. First one was very abrupt when we arrived & asked if we could have lunch in the bar, but told absolutely no, only in the Restaurant. We had a lovely lunch in the Beach Hotel Bar across the road! The 2nd Receptionist was extremely rude when I asked for the Wi-Fi code & told me that I should have known there was no Wi-Fi in the property. It states that there is on booking.com!

The sea and scenery around the hotel and the staff were very nice. The views from the restaurant were amazing. Very relaxing.
We had upgraded our Room for a better Room with sea view. Room needed maintenance. It was below standard. Shower door was hanging off. The radiators and the room was freezing in the evening, reception said that the heating was on but our radiators were stone cold and no where on them for us to turn them on. It was a double bedroom for a couple and only one chair in the room.
We did get the sea view

Friendly staff, great location and very comfortable rooms.
A little bit more variety at breakfast would have been nice.

We have stayed in the Pier Head for over 20 years because it is located in a beautiful village. We have so many family memories with my own children and more with my wife's family who have been holidaying in Mullaghmore for 60 years.
The hotel was feeling the strain of staff issues that many hotels in the area are. There was no longer food offered in the bar which was always popular because of chef constraints. There was no longer WiFi available and the breakfast was not up to the standard the hotel can produce.

lovely room overlooking town and mountains beyond. No traffic noise, able to leave window open all night with no noise from street. Room excelllent and very comfortable, staff excellent, nothing was too much trouble. Food in restuarant was superb, both dinner and breakfast.

The location is perfect….right on the pier at the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. we had booked and paid a premium for a room with an ocean view.
The breakfast was very good.
The staff were friendly and helpful - although obviously over-stretched.
There is a thin line between charming old fashioned, and frustrating old fashioned…unfortunately the Pier Head Hotel has crossed that line.
The hotel has obviously suffered because of COVID, and obviously has a problem finding staff.
There are so many issues, which on their own might be acceptable, but all together create a very disappointing impression…..
- no wifi in the hotel at all (in this day and age!)
- guests must pay at checkin (why?)
- not possible to charge any drinks or meals to the room (why?)
- rooms are not cleaned each day. fresh towels are provided in request.
- the “fresh” towels are clean…but a mix of old, and mismatched towels.
- the bed in our room was quite old / used and uncomfortable. we turned the mattress ourselves - which helped - but still was not a comfort sleep on either night.
- the level of decor and cleaning in the hotel generally leaves a lot to be desired. Older carpets in some areas never really look clean. Shortage of housekeeping staff?
- at €150 per night, our stay at the Pier Head Hotel did not feel like good value for money.
