Loved everything about this VRBO and vacation. It was fantastic!!! Will be back to Costa Rica and same location in Manuel Antonio.
10.0 / 10.0
I rarely do reviews, but this trip was so far above expectations, it deserves as many accolades as my family can give.
It was my first trip to Costa Rica and taking my family of 6 down there, I had no idea what to do or expect.
First, after booking the property, the management agency (2Costa Rica Vacation Rentals) was all about service. Hazel gave me all the information needed for a great trip, including helping with outings, questions regarding food, groceries, money... even booked me a car!
Once there, Jorge took over and made sure we have every little thing we needed. Immediately responsive and full of great insider information, he made the trip amazing for me and my family. He got us groceries and food delivered, communicated for outings, even gave us insider tips on where to go/park for good surf!
As for the property... I would give it 6 stars if I could. Nothing short of amazing. Great, private and safe location, incredible views, clean, well laid out, AC worked great, pool and covered deck were used every single day. We loved being on the property almost as much as the incredible day trips we took to the beach, biplane, waterfall, Manuel Antonio National Park, hikes, etc.
Highly, highly recommend both the house and the management company. Service and quality at the highest level!

We enjoyed our stay inmenaley! The property was beautiful and kept up nicely. We saw plenty of animals from Our balcony! Monkeys toucans and macaws! The location wasn’t far from restaurants or activities. The concierge was friendly and very informative! We loved the pool for evenings to relax after a long day of sightseeing!
My only suggestions are - they list washer and dryer as amenities which you can’t use - the housekeeper will wash all of your clothes which is fine but having access for beach towels and all of that would have been nice.
One other thing…inside the family room we had 6 people- there is not enough seating in living room for 6…seems strange for a three bedroom. There was plenty of outdoor seating etc but late night we would have liked to congregate in that area. But truly a beautiful place, I would go back again to this location!

I’ve stayed in many VRBO’s before and I can easily say that Casa Del Toro was by far the best experience in many aspects. The house was very spacious with everything you needed for a comfortable stay. Best parts: Lots of privacy, beautiful pool, great location just outside Quepos and 5-7 drive to Manuel Antonio, and great views. The only complaint I would have would be the intermittent hot and cold water while taking a shower. But it’s no issue if you have a bit of patience. The two concierge went above and beyond all expectations. Hazel did a great job booking tours , a rental car and explaining the check in process. Once on property, Jorge was amazing. His recommendations for restaurants was spot on and anytime we needed a special favor or taxi, he was on top of it. Will recommend to anyone wanting to visit the area.

This property is beautiful, just like the pictures. In our opinion, the driveway was not as bad as some reviews and we had a mid-size SUV. There are quite a few steps getting from the parking area to the front door, but they were not an issue for us. We would all stay here again.

This was our first time in Costa Rica and we selected this property based on our needs (this was a special family celebration) the description and photos of the property, and the reviews. Believe what you see and read ... this villa is beautiful, comfortable, relaxing. We all loved it. The layout is very practical, the deck big and comfortable ... a beautiful place for taking in the sunsets or listening to the birds, or the rain. We rented an SUV for our 2 week stay and if you do, it may take a time or two to get used to the driveway to the property. In the trees and foliage around us, we had lots of regular visitors - from the many macaws, to a family of toucans in a tree in front of us, to local families of squirrel monkeys and white faced capuchin monkeys. It was a truly beautiful location, incredibly relaxing. We cooked in quite a bit so the BBQ was very handy. The housekeeping service was second to none, and the concierge support was very responsive. You will not be disappointed!!

Great home base for exploring Manuel Antonio park and Quepos area. Our family of 5 (3 teenagers) stayed 5 nights.
Jorge was easy to communicate with via text. He helped us check in and answered questions we had through the week. Hazel was also easy to work with. She helped us to prepare for our trip and scheduled an ATV tour for our family.
Beautiful views. Wildlife all around us. From our deck we saw colorful Toucans and Macaws. A group of Capuchin monkeys visited us the first day.
Laundry is a plus. Pool was great. Plenty of room for our teenagers to spread out and have their own space. Like reviews have said, the driveway is steep. But if you’ve ever stayed anywhere in the mountains, you’ve probably been up worse.
Great house, would certainly recommend!

The property was great. Amazing mountain views and views over Quepos. Only a 12 minute drive to Manuel Antonio Park. The driveway is very steep and not for the faint of heart, but if you have a 4x4 and patience, you'll be fine. Concierge services were awesome, we arrived late and they coordinated dinner to the home 2 nights so we didnt have to drive at night.

We loved everything about this property. Beautiful home and views from the home. Great location. Hazel and Jorge were awesome to work with and schedule activities for us. Having a chef one night was one of my kids’ highlights. They loved watching for macaws, monkeys and the toucanette. We would definitely come back!

All of these reviews have outlined the home perfectly. Our stay was amazing and our kids will talk about this trip for years to come. The house was very spacious, both inside and out. We enjoyed dinner on the patio with a private chef, arranged by the concierge service, which we highly recommend! Hazel and Jorge were amazing with their assistance setting up excursions and answering questions (arranged zip lining, jeep tour, water rafting). The pool was shaded but warm and welcome after the days activities.
A small 4x4 is definitely needed, so I’m glad previous reviews pointed that out. But the steep driveway and steps were worth the view!
The beds were not very comfortable, but did not take away from the wonderful experience!

We stayed 4 nights at this beautiful house on a hill. Don’t have much to add that the other reviews didn’t mention. Tough to navigate the first time, after that easy. Good central location to what you want to do. Hour to Jaco north and an hour to Dominical south for surfing (that’s what my kids wanted to do). House was nice to come home to and swim and enjoy the view. Had groceries delivered through the host Jorge a couple times. Easy. Watched parrots, tucans, other birds, and monkeys from the porch. My kids will forever remember the up-close encounter with the monkeys. Highly recommend.

Very clean, great views, pool is perfect. Easy to get grocery delivery and close to great restaurants.
8.0 / 10.0
This house has amazing potential. The decor is a bit bland and worn and the house could use some color to really bring out its best. The back patio area is what makes this house special. The view is spectacular and a bird-lover’s paradise. The pool is perfect for a small family or group.
A few notes: there are 31 steps to get to and from the house from the parking area. Anyone with mobility issues might struggle.
The driveway… OY! I drive for a living and this driveway was a struggle in a full-sized SUV. Get a *small* 4x4 and you’ll have no problem so long as you’re a confident driver. Many tour companies will NOT go up the driveway and you might have to walk the steep, long driveway to get to picked up.
Overall, this isn’t the greatest rental we’ve stayed in, but the view and morning coffee on the deck make it worth it. Have Hazel or Jorge set you up with massages and a private chef for dinner. You won’t regret it.

Our stay was nothing short of fantastic. Jorge greeted us at a local landmark and guided us to the property and up the winding driveway. He helped get us settled and provided great recommendations throughout our stay.
The property is breathtaking with views of the forest, ocean, and downtown Quepos from the multiple outdoor seating areas. The vaulted ceilings and sliding glass doors make you feel like you are in a 5-star treehouse.
After exploring the local beaches and parks each day, we enjoyed sunsets from the pool and covered deck areas.
The home met and exceeded every expectation. Thank you to our hosts for a wonderful stay.

This property is amazing and exactly as described. The staff at 2Costa Rica Vacation Rentals (Jorge and Hazel) took care of everything for us. Highly recommended!!
10.0 / 10.0
The house is very roomy with 2 master bed rooms. Beautiful balcony with great view to relax. You can see many different kinds of birds in the morning and in the evening. The hosts, Jorge & Hazel, were very helpful. Hazel helped us to secure a rental car when none was available online. She also helped us with reservations for local tours.
The house can probably use some new pots/pans. The washer took a long time, even for a Quick Wash, for some reason.
The bed in the small bed room needs an upgrade. It was old and uneven. It was difficult to adjust/control/maintain a constant water temperature in the showers.
10.0 / 10.0
This was one of the most amazing places we have ever stayed! The property is well maintained and Hazel and Jorge were amazing to work with on getting excursions booked and organized and giving us recommendations for restaurants and beaches! Communication was top notch.
We loved being able to come back to the house during the day and evenings to relax and swim in the pool and cook meals when we wanted to! The driveway is steep, but we had no problem with it! The location was perfect for all the activities we did (Surfing, Ziplining, Catamaran, Manuel Antonio). We rented a car, which we didn't drive too much while we were in the area since all the excursions pick you up. We rented because we drove down from San Jose, but you could also get a transfer or quick flight. We also used the rent car to drive to the beach one day and to dinner, but you could easily get around with a taxi.
We highly recommend this property! The only complaint we had was that we had to leave! :) Can't wait to come back to CR!!

We had a fantastic time at la Casa del Toro. The views from the terrace
are incredible and the villa itself has everything to make for a perfect stay. it is very well appointed and offered plenty of space for our group of 5 people. The property management company did an amazing job. They were extremely helpful, before and during our stay.

Loved this property. Everything about this place was top notch. We love birding and the variety of birds we saw from the balcony was just amazing. Special thanks to the property management team, they were so helpful with absolutely everything.

Rental was seamless and the property was clean. Saw monkeys, Toucans , Macaws, Aracari, all from the patio. Kitchen was ok but the entire house is in need of improved(brighter) lighting. Very dim in the kitchen at night.

Our extended family of five, from 13 to 80yo, had an amazing time with Casa del Toro as our Manuel Antonio base. The villa was pristine. Beds super comfy and the water pressure were all fantastic. Potable water out the tap (didn't find that in La Fortuna or Samara, btw). We absolutely loved the outdoor living space. Never turned on any tv - why with all that MA offers and the TDF view?
All five of us loved the pool, which btw, doesn't ever get entirely get full sun - which is great if you want to relax on a pool float in the shade.
The chef's knives could be replaced; we couldn't slice limons or tomatoes. Other than that, keeping one half or a full cabinet open for guest's groceries would be appreciated.
Ana (housekeeper) was AMAZING. She gave a five star, white glove treatment (plus laundry) to the villa in a mere three hours. Jorge, our house concierge, was always available via text to help with taxis, checkin/checkout and of course, restaurant and beach recommendations. Hazel was our villa company concierge and she rocked it! Set up in home massages, in home bfast and dinner chefs, and of course, Rainmaker and MA National Park tours with HP (Henry Pizzano) Tours! Hazel and Jorge even coordinated a fabulous birthday cake from a local bakery - Hazel ordered; Jorge picked up and had ready for us upon our arrival. It was beautiful and tasted so good!
**Disclaimer for neighborhood driveway to Casa del Toro - very steep and sharp turned hills to home. Get the 4x4. You'll be thankful. Tour operators require you to meet at the entrance to the neighborhood.**
Restaurants: El Avion and El Lagarto - meh. Kick fanny views for day or sunset by far. But service and food/drink are just okay. We REALLY loved El Arado in Quepos. As previously mentioned, hire Alejandro for your first day's breakfast and dinner. Thank me later! =)
We would ABSOLUTELY rent this villa again upon returning to MA.

Jorge--concierge for the stay. Very professional and quick to respond. We used WhatsApp for our communication with him. All recommendations for restaurants and spa services were excellent!
House--Great location for wildlife and views. Our one and only complaint was the front guest bedroom smelled musty and mildewy. We didn't stay in this room but would have been disappointed if we needed to. Other than that, safe and quiet location with minimal city sounds. Maid service was great and we had no problems with food deliveries being made.
A couple of cautions: Get a 4WD if you rent a car. The switchbacks up to the property are paved but slick when it rains--which was often during our stay in mid-November. We had to walk down to meet one tour guide who couldn't make it up with a van and saw a Jeep that couldn't make it up the hill. We had a small SUV and had no issues. Be careful in the dark driving up to the house.
Also, the railing around the outside porch by the pool would be dangerous for small children. We had 4 adults staying so this was not an issue.
Other than this, I am very picky with VRBOs, and I would definitely stay here again. Great service and home!

Beautiful property and breathtaking view!
My wife, our two teen girls, and I stayed for a week in July, and it was great. We loved the Casa Del Toro and its quick access to Manuel Antonio park, excellent restaurants, and fun activities. Our concierge, Jorge, welcomed us and gave us good recommendations. We would stay here again!

Better than expected, and we had high expectations
Wow! Just got back from staying here for a week. Family of 5 with kids in HS and MS.
The views are incredible, we say monkeys (squirrel and white-faced) jumping on the trees from the bedroom windows, monkeys jumping on the roof. Tucans were building a nest in a tree outside our window. We saw a series of McCaws flying near the house and landing in trees above the pool nearly every day. Hummingbirds and beautiful black and bright red birds. We saw iguanas, snakes, and spiders outside - all non-poisonous.
Margarita was there every other day doing laundry and cleaning, always with a smile. If you do not speak Spanish, it was easy enough to communicate with Google Translate conversation mode.
The rooms were great, our oldest daughter was surprised we gave her the master bedroom (overlooking the pool), only later to realize the other bedroom had all the wildlife activity going on in the morning. The rooms were comfortable and everything worked as expected - except for turning on the shower - you need to push the bigger knob upwards to start the shower.
The Internet was OK, great for emails, but kids found that TV Streamers worked sporadically, where Netflix worked on all TVs, but YouTube only worked on one streamer and usually not late in the day - but did work on tablets. There were 2 phones in the house, one labeled local and the other international, we did not use them, but it was nice in case they were needed. The showers had a hard time keeping a steady temperature and went from hot to cold to hot to cold - but easy enough to readjust. Some of the tiles outside by the pool and tiles going down the stairs can be slippery when wet, so be careful.
My wife is a planner, so she found all the activities on her own, but Jorge was there if needed and gave us useful info about Hurricane Bonnie moving through Costa Rica. My wife also likes to cook herself with local ingredients and the kids are picky eaters, so we did not take advantage of the chef for meals.
The Parking was interesting, after getting up the winding hill, we found it easiest to pull to the end of the driveway and then back into the first of the parking spaces, and then readjust to point back down the hill.
We lost power once for about 15 minutes, but they had just installed a bright emergency light high on the main wall in the great room and provided flashlights plugged into the wall. Not sure if that was in preparation for Tropical Storm Bonnie, but it was useful.

Amazing Stay at "Casa Del Toro"!!
From the moment we walked in we knew this was something special. The home was both warm and inviting, yet grand at the same time. Each room was comfortable and decadent in its design, but nothing inside the home compares to the stunning view from the huge balcony. Wether we were sitting at the dining table or in the pool, we could see the town below, the beach, mountains and...we were greeted by all sorts of tropical birds every day!!
The conceirgeJorge was extremely polite, friendly and informative. Easy to work with and helped us meet our needs and answered questions.
We highly recommend this property to anyone and everyone. Just make sure you have a four-wheel drive vehicle!
We would return again, and hope to in the near future!

Property was Wonderful!
We really enjoyed this property. Our family was comfortable and Jeorge was an excellent resource for help in a foreign country. The location was beautiful, the pool refreshing, the A/C much appreciated. We had an iguana on the property that was super fun to watch each day. Beds are always a big deal for us and they were excellent.
It is on a steep hill which you must be comfortable hiking. Most transportation would only pick up at the bottom of the hill. We had no problem hiking it, but could be inconvenient or difficult for some.

Great view, great time
The home has an absolutely gorgeous view over Quepos and some ocean. Tucans, macaws, monkeys, hummingbirds and other wildlife all over the place. Big home, nice bathrooms, clean everywhere. Jorge was a great concierge helping us with recommendations and calling cabs, which you absolutely need since it’s so high up that walking too/from the area is a challenge. Perfect sized pool for adults to float around. This was a great experience for us!

This property was wonderful, very spacious, comfortable and close to beaches and restaurants. The host was great at checking us in and communicating with us. I sipped my coffee on the patio in the mornings and watched toucans and macaws fly by me, it was breathtaking. Kids had fun in the pool and the house was very well equipped for anything we needed. Highly recommended.

Fantastic Week in Manuel Antonio
We can't say enough good things about our stay at Casa del Toro. The communication from Hazel ahead of time was fantastic. She helped us arrange all of our excursions and set up Covid test prior to departure. She arranged a rental car for us and she answered every question I had! The house itself was beautiful---well designed, spacious with comfortable beds, large rooms and an amazing deck area. At the end of each day we cooled off and relaxed in the pool. At first we were a little concerned that it was so high above the city, but it's just off a main road so it was very easy to navigate our way to Manuel Antonio (approx 10-15 min drive), the beach (maybe 5-10 min drive) and plenty of other activities and restaurants. We loved it here!!
