We had a very pleasant, adventourous and pleasant holiday on Madeira island.

We had everything we needed to have a pleasant holiday. So beautiful bouganville balcony and garden with a lounge, pool and sea-view. Very nice hosts that were so friendly and helpful.

Great stay at a lovely place!

We first stayed at Vista Oceano with Ian and Ceu over twenty years ago and are still staying with them when we visit Madeira – that says it all. Lovely spacious, clean, comfortable, south facing apartment overlooking a beautiful, flower filled garden and the sea. Super friendly and helpful hosts.

Really lovely and relaxing even though we did walk into town and back every day!!

The property was very clean and lovely and quiet. Ian and Maria with exceptionally good hosts.

Perfect stay at a quiet neighborhood.

The host is just perfect. He had it all under control and it was easy to communicate with him.

Beautiful boutique style hotel with panoramic views of Funchal

I honestly couldn’t recommend this place enough. From the moment I arrived the hosts were so welcoming and friendly. The room was spotless with comfortable beds, good facilities for cooking, clean and modern bathroom, spacious sitting area and a beautiful large balcony with panoramic views of Funchal. I spent hours just sitting and enjoying the view. The pool and gardens were beautiful and I was able to feel like I had the place to myself! When I come back to Funchal, I’ll be staying here again!

The reviews are misleading. Terrible service and rude host! Can ruin your trip.

The host was extremely un-polite and rude on the day of our departure. We left dirty dishes in the sink and trash on the kitchen counter as we wanted to leave the room in good time. The host made a big deal of this and said that he expected us to clean everything before our departure. He also told us how he had to pay someone to clean the room. That's part of his job as a property host! After dropping us to the airport, he mentioned that because "he's not very angry" he still dropped us to the airport for 20 EUR. Otherwise he would tell us to get a taxi even if that meant we would miss our flight. All this because of dirty dishes and some trash. The host is not professional and doesn't respect the agreement between a client and a service provider. He expected us to wash dishes and take out the trash but didn't mentioned that in any rules. He disrespected our agreement to drop us at the airport by threatening us and saying he wouldn't do so if he was more angry. Additionally, the host was 30 minutes late to pick us up at the airport. He also counted how many times we used the washing machine and said it was "an unusual request" to use the machine even though the property mentions access to the washing machine in their booking.com listing. We even asked him if we could use the washing machine and bought our own washing powder. Oh and keep an eye out for gender and age-based discrimination. I cannot imagine the host would speak the way he spoke to any person over the age of 50. Don't stay here if you want to feel like a "client" who is on holiday. Stay here if you want to feel like living with a controlling and over-bearing landlord who checks how many hours you had a light-bulb turned on.

wonderful relaxing stay in a beautiful apartment with fantastic views

Ian and his wife were wonderful hosts so friendly and welcoming, their apartments was perfect very clean,comfortable and well appointed and set in beautiful gardens with a lovely pool with fantastic views over the bay. The area is very quiet so super relaxing we had the most relaxing stay here and wouldn’t hesitate to re book again

Host was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The property is fairly well located, quite close to the centre but far enough away that it is quiet. It is on a quiet dead-end road which means there isn't much traffic going past, it felt very safe. There is a corner shop around 10 minute walk away. The property has good views looking out of the hotel district and the sea. The room itself was clean, well looked after, and had most of the facilities anyone would need. The kitchen had the basics required to cook, the we particularly liked the 'sun room', great for lounging after a long walk! Having a pool was also great as it allowed us to cool off. Overall would definitely recommend! While I'm sure other hotels have similar facilities, and friendliness of the host elevated it for us!

Hard to think of anything wrong, perhaps missing one or two kitchen utensils, but overall a great stay!

Everything has been perfect to our needs, Ian and his wife made us feel like home, to relax and enjoy a perfect holiday. Flat was clean, well equipped kitchen, with a gorgeous ocean view. We only recommend to go and we are so looking forward to come back too!

Superb

Ian and Maria are fantastic hosts. The location of the apartment is stunning : beautiful view on the bay and on the city of Funchal. The appartment itself is really very comfortable, practical and cosy. We really felt at home there. The terrace is wonderful and even in december we could take our meals outside overlooking the nice garden and swimming pool. Every 2 days the place was cleaned, there were plenty of towels etc; The only thing we regretted is that we could not stay any longer. There is also a good bus connexion a few hundred meters from the house( we usually went to town on foot, about 15 minutes down hill and came back by bus) We hope to be be able to come back ..

Beautiful comfortable apartment in a quiet area with the most amazing views! the hosts Ian and Maria are the most welcoming hosts who are just a joy. gazing down at the bay through the beautiful Bougainville each day felt like a little piece of paradise! stay here if ever you visit Madeira but don’t take our apartment as we’ll be returning as often as we can!

A very lovely place to relax and fall in love with. Ian is such a wonderful host!

We loved the spacious unit with a bright, beautiful sitting area and kitchen, as well as the lovely courtyard. We enjoyed the city/ocean views, perfect for watching the sunrise and the moon too.

Perhaps adding screen door/windows to keep mosquitos out of the room while getting fresh air in.

Excellent very clean large studio apartment in a quiet location with a wonderful view over Funchal and the sea. The private balcony also overlooks the pretty garden and pool. Easy downhill walk to the seafront and town...we usually caught urban bus number 11 to come back up! Very friendly, kind and helpful owners who make you feel very welcome. Can't recommend highly enough.

Dreaming view every morning

Great place to stay in Madeira, with an amazing view and garden, including a refreshing pool to jump in after visiting the island. The host was always available to help and treated us super nicely. The room was comfortable and had everything necessary for the stay, including the kitchen which allowed us to cook good meals with local products. We'll definitely come back again and stay in the apartments Vista Oceano, we had a great time.

the property is beautiful, lovely little garden with lots of plants, tables and chairs. it has a really nice relaxing vibe. the location was great as it has beautiful views of the ocean, but not too far from Funchal city centre. the apartment was lovely and spacious and fully equips with everything we needed. the host Ian is amazing. very welcoming, friendly and helpful.

excellent accommodation . The apartment had everything we needed. Marie and Ian were excellent hosts who went above and beyond to make our stay a memorable one and to give us all the information required for our visit. Would highly recommend there Apartment if you ever visit Madeira.

Nothing really, only issue visitors may have is that it’s up a very steep hill. We knew that before we went so it wasn’t an issue, we caught the bus back up.
