About this cabin rental
Our rustic cabin is located on a large, private cattle ranch and captures the Western spirit and style of the Gold Country. Although the cabin feels remote, it is closely situated to Groveland (less than 5 miles) and Yosemite National Park (first gate less than 30 miles). One can hike and explore the ranch for miles in all directions. The flora and fauna are beautiful! It is a charming, picturesque, romantic, and tranquil space for couples and solo travelers to unwind from life's daily stresses and great outdoor adventures.
The cabin was once a hunting and mining cabin and was relocated next to an old sluiceway utilized for gold mining. The small cabin measures about 330 sq. ft. and includes a new bathroom and well-supplied kitchen (i.e., kitchenware). It has a spacious wrap-around front porch and side deck. A rustic, Western-style outdoor kitchen for barbecues is located behind the cabin with a bar area. Situated on the deck are chairs and a table with umbrella for outdoor dining, as well as a Weber gas grill.
You can explore any place on the ranch. The ridge visible to the right of the cabin when looking at the front porch, is a special place to view spectacular sunsets over the Central Valley. Take the camping chairs and enjoy a glass of wine or cocktail while watching the sun go down.

We came to celebrate a birthday and see Yosemite for the first time. We stayed two nights and this remote cabin will fool you. It looks so rustic on the outside but the inside was beautifully decorated and the bed was SO comfy!
The outbuildings were fun to see and the horses were a special bonus. The kitchen was well equipped and we cooked all of our meals there. Yosemite is a 40ish minute drive and was well worth it! Highly recommend and we’ll stay here again.😊

Had a very nice stay at the Homestead. It was an extremely hot week and the AC had trouble keeping up when we first checked in but otherwise the cabin was great and very quiet among our bovine neighbors. We spend 3 days hiking in different parts of Yosemite which was an hour or two away. Natalie was a fantastic host and very responsive to any questions we had. Would highly recommend.

I love this spot! It is so peaceful and with such amazing views. It was all the was promised and more. You are still close to everything you need, but definitely isolated from any neighbors. 5 Stars isn't enough.

I have stayed here 3 different times and this was no different. It is the best stay for 2 people I can imagine. You are alone with the animals and the stars, yet you have every convenience you could ask for.

This cabin was perfect for my husband and me. We spent one day just relaxing at the cabin and another visiting Hetch Hetchy. We couldn't have asked for anything better!

The cabin is fabulous. We used it as a base of operations to explore Hetch Hetchy. It was perfect. Some driving. But worth it to not be in the Evergreen Lodge etc etc etc.
The cabin is tiny but - for us - it lacked nothing. The kitchen is very well thought out. We made three dinners and wanted for nothing.
There is every type of coffee maker available.
The property is massive and fun to explore.
We hope we return soon.

Great place to stay. The ranch is very unique and the animals provide good company. The cabin itself is well appointed and has everything a person would need. We had a great time and was the most memorable part of our trip to CA.

Farm living
If you love an adventure, this is for you! So many interesting things to see. The cabin is rustic farm house. Kitchen is well equipped. We traveled back and forth to Yosemite with ease. Groveland is a cute little town to visit. We went to Sonora as well. Nice shopping there. We had a fantastic time at the cabin.
We loved feeding the horses apples and carrots with permission from the host. It was our daily routine. Our weather wasn’t great so we didn’t get to enjoy a lot of outdoor activities at the ranch. Our last day the power was out due to the storm, so it was cold. My only suggestion, would be a generator for those times when there isn’t power.

Wild West Adventure
Trip to celebrate our 43rd Anniversary. Not easy to find using Google maps. Upon arrival the air conditioner was not working & after a 16+ hr. Drive we were pretty frustrated. Called owners & didn't get an answer. She later returned our called but with no solution. Sleepless 1st night in sweltering heat. Thanks to Bob the farmhand who helped us put in a different air conditioner the next day,we got the cabin cooled down & began to enjoy our stay. We loved feeding the horses & mules. Driving up on the mountaintop for evening sunsets. All the necessities that were provided for our stay, except for one thing that was missing, (A regular coffeemaker). Other than those little bumps in the road we enjoyed a good night's rest after our 3 days of hiking in Yosemite. Groveland has some nice shops & restaurants as well. The owner has been kind enough to compensate us for the 1 sleepless night we spent without air which was nice. Would we stay there again, YOU BET WE WOULD.

Beautiful location
I loved the location and the area. Beautiful place to stay. About 40 minute drive to Yosemite North Entrance and 1 hour and 30 minutes to Yosemite village. The drive dose not seem to long as the views are amazing. Groveland is nice little town close to the cabin where you can go to some local restaurants or go grocery shopping.

Mountain Getaway
The cabin was charming and well-appointed. Every need was anticipated in the kitchen. It is a perfect getaway to nature and still be quite comfortable. The only negative is that the air conditioning was having difficulty keeping up with the 95 degree heat.

serene and comfortable
My wife and I chose this cabin as a base to visit Yosemite. Big mistake! The cabin and the ranch are so wonderful that it was hard to convince ourselves to get out and get going.
The place is immaculately clean, it's small, but just the right size for two people, impressively well stocked and designed with great attention to smallest details. Not only decor, even the books seem to be carefully selected and I enjoyed browsing Ansel Adam's album and read about Hetch Hetchy history.
We felt recharged after two nights here as if we came back from a week long vacation. I do hope we'll be able to come back and enjoy the cabin soon!

A Magical Oasis
What an amazing experience this was for us! Being in the middle of a legit cattle ranch provided the much-needed break from the daily grind that we were seeking. We were definitely grateful for the full immersion into nature that we were able to experience at the Homestead while simultaneously being pampered with every high-end creature-comfort one could desire from a shelter. The stars at night were breathtaking after the beautiful sunsets, and the well-appointed kitchen was utterly delightful to putter around in the morning after a luxurious night's sleep on the incredibly comfortable king bed. We will definitely be back again and again. I can not recommend this experience highly enough.

Breathtaking
The HOMESTEAD was by far, the BEST property we ever rented ( and we have done quite a few over the last few years)... it felt like a chance to experience days gone by --you could just "see" cow hands and all the activities on a working ranch. We indeed are blessed in this life! The cabin was rustic feel, yet had ALL of the amenities you could ever want. Just sitting and watching the wildlife from the porch was AMAZING, and so relaxing after a day hiking Yosemite. We slept better there than we can remember. So many thanks for memories we will cherish!

Perfect place to unwind
Of all the places we have stayed, this cabin is at the top of our list!
This property exceeded our expectations in so many ways. The bed was comfortable and as others have mentioned the cabin is very well stocked. We enjoyed a few steaks cooked over fire in the outdoor kitchen along with cocktails on the deck. The sunset from the ridge was incredible.
We came for Yosemite but found ourselves spending a whole day at the ranch doing "nothing".
Thanks Natalie for sharing this wonderful place with us!

The best place to stay near Yosemite national park
Natalie’s place was absolutely the perfect getaway stay for our trip to see Yosemite.
We loved the amenities the cottage had and how clean it was. The solitude of this property was so welcomed after days of hiking at the park. We loved exploring the grounds and petting the horses. We can not recommend this place more for anyone staying near Groveland. Thank you so much Natalie for having such a great place which made for a very relaxing and enjoyable trip.

Superb
This little cabin is an absolute gem. Great interior design and details. The kitchen is really well equipped, and the whole cabin is immaculately clean. The setting on the ranch is gorgeous. If this sounds like a lot of superlatives it's because this little cabin is so superb.

Incredible Spot with Incredible Amenities
The guest book basically said it all - leather-bound in a custom made covering, the words from basically everyone complimented how much thought has gone into this place. I couldn't agree more. The cabin is charming, the bed is comfortable, the kitchen is fully stocked, the bathroom has everything you need. We enjoyed being close to nature and away from other people, as well as the chance to just relax for a few days. I would recommend this to any couple looking for a nice get away, and the proximity to Yosemite was just an added bonus. Thanks Natalie!

We decided on Saturday to spring on an opportunity to take a last-minute trip on Sunday and Natalie was more than accommodating to book us into this little ranch cabin. Natalie was responsive and in less than 24 hours, we were at the cabin. The cabin is situated on a 5,000 acre working cattle ranch (approx. 150 cows and several horses). We enjoyed listening to the cows' moos and their cowbells throughout the day. Also got to pet some horses just a few steps from the cabin and we really enjoyed sunset views from cocktail ridge. The cabin was well-appointed for its size. The kitchen is very well-stocked, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean and comfortable. I gave cleanliness 4/5 though as the cabin was a little dusty but I guess that is to be expected considering the location. We also enjoyed the outdoor deck and BBQ for meals and for WFH.

Hidden Gem
This place is excellent. When it says explore the ranch, I think it undermines the vast expanse of things to do on the ranch. This is a place to stay and relax, explore! I saw lots of people stayed here for Yosemite. I would strongly encourage time at location!

Our stay at the cabin was pure joy. The property managers are incredibly thoughtful and the attention to detail is superb. Everything we could ever want and way more was there waiting for us, which made us feel cared for and special. What were these details? An amazing coffee bar with all the appliances and delicious coffees you could want. All sorts of cooking appliances- a kitchen aid mixer, a waffle iron. I didn't even know I needed waffles on this getaway weekend until we saw that waffle iron. Beautiful candles. Different sets of dishes for outdoor dining vs. indoor. The mix of luxury and rustic details was unparalleled. Thank you Natalie and John!!The ambiance itself is so relaxing and refreshing and restoring to the soul. We needed a covid getaway to escape from the world and driving to the ranch and up to the cabin provided exactly that. It felt like entering into another, simpler and at the same time more decadent world. We had planned to visit Yosemite, but it was closed the weekend we were there because of earlierweather conditions. We didn't even miss it! We ended up hiking the property, and petting the horses, and sitting out on the deck talking and relaxing. Stay here!!! We cannot wait to go back for our next trip. Counting down the days.....

Hidden Gem
This place is a hidden gem off the beaten path of Highway 120. You are in a private, secluded, cabin in the woods. Surrounded by grazing cattle and horses. The cabin has awesome amenities and is such a nice retreat away from city life. The host is great and very responsive. We will definitely be returning in the future.

The perfect place to reconnect
My wife and I booked this property for a quick Valentines getaway and hoping for a chance to reconnect. We ran into a small hiccup in the check-in process which Natalie addressed ASAP. Once checked in our expectations were exceeded in every way. The property is incredible and the sunsets were among the best we've seen (including Santorini!). Every detail in the cabin is tended too right down to the informational signs made to look like state parks signs. It was great and therapeutic to interact with the animals on the property. In the days leading up to our stay Natalie was prompt in her replies. We look forward to visiting again in the near future.

Well appointed and comfortable
We loved staying on the homestead, and wished we had more time to enjoy the property! We stayed here for two nights - exploring Yosemite during the day. Driving into the property is an adventure in itself, and it is a wonderful feeling arriving back to the cabin after a long day - to enjoy a sunset, sit outside, and pet the horses! The cabin is full of fantastic touches that make it feel like a much larger space - it is extremely well appointed and comfortable. Would love to come back.
