Refurbished house with tree house and zip liner which was a hit with kids

The location and property are just sublime. We will be returning for sure.

We were left with a welcome pack of essentials including bread, milk, pastries, cereals and fruit. This was in addition to usual kitchen stock items you really appreciate at properties e.g. salt and pepper, oil, sauces. Host arranged celebratory banner and balloons as well which was a lovely touch!
There is nothing I can say we didn't like.

The property was clean, comfortable, very well equipped, and surprisingly spacious! We really enjoyed the views of the countryside and the wildlife.
The location was great for exploring the Peak District and beyond. We visited Buxton, Bakewell, Hathersage, Castleton, Bolsover Castle, Manchester and Barnsley... plus many spots in-between!
The hosts were brilliant in ensuring we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Hartcliffe Retreat to anyone looking to stay in the area.
Absolutely no negatives - All positive!

great family property with everything you could possibly need.
hosts were top class from moment of booking through and beyond our stay. our luggage never made it into the UK and they were very helpful in pointing us to where we could get some essentials.

On arrival our host Lynne had balloons, a card and flowers waiting for us for my wife’s 50th which was the purpose of our trip. The generosity of the welcome pack was also gratefully received.
The property itself is fantastic so spacious and furnished to the highest standard with beautiful the views and surroundings.
Penistone is a lovely little place and there are lots of walks nearby
we could not fault the property

Lots of extra bits in kitchen, pastries, bread, milk and more! Fantastic communication with hosts, very detailed information. Lovely log burner, cosy house! Comfy beds, lovely countryside views. Fantastic tree house and garden! Parking for 3 cars! Sooo clean!
Cool white fairy lights 😅 that's us being pedantic. We'd love to stay again!

The house is remote and quite with beautiful views. It was a lot bigger than expected and was spotless! The hosts thought of everything and more. The kitchen was well equipped and we were left some breakfast items such as cereal, milk, bread, fruit and eggs which was a lovely touch. We felt very welcomed as soon as we arrived and it had a homely feel. The check in process was very easy with great communication before we arrived. There is enough parking for 2-4 cars. The showers were good and the beds were comfortable. There are lots of beautiful walks close by.

The property is self catering but the owner leaves a welcome pack which has cereal continental breakfast makings eggs butter tea coffee fresh milk so can not fault it for all the supplies that where left for us to use I will be recommending this to friends and family and will book this property again in the future
The owners could not do anymore to improve this house it is well worth the cost and the comfort is amazing

An amazing view of the Penines but what we loved the best was the home away from home feel. There were essential fridge items provided, that makes all the difference when you have had a long journey. Prior to arrival there was a lot of communication from the host and during our stay we appreciated the lovely Yorkshire hospitality, checking that we had all we needed. We would love to return.
Nothing at all.

Beautiful setting, peaceful and scenic. Property very comfortable and well equipped. Great value for money.

Exceptionally quiet and peaceful location, but only a short walk down into Cubley (on the outskirts of Penistone).
Plenty of space within the accommodation for a large group. Great amenities (kitchen was excellent) and plenty of comfy spots to relax.
Showers were great (nothing worse than a weak shower!) and the bedrooms very comfy. Enclosed front garden was great for the two canine friends that were with us.
We just about managed to squeeze four cars into the parking spaces provided for the retreat, not a huge issue for most people I'd imagine though - we were 5 friends and 2 dogs coming from different sides of the country!

Lovely private location in a rural setting
Easy check in
Easy to find
Close to penistone railway station (5 min drive)
Plenty of resources supplied (wood, charcoal, cutlery and cooking supplies, and a lovely welcome pack with bread/milk/eggs etc)
Pets welcomed and the front garden was enclosed and secure
Good contact with the host but we were also sufficiently left to our own devices
We were asked to clean/hoover before departure

Lovely location for exploring neighbouring places. The property is set over three floors so each bedroom has a separate bathroom allowing privacy and lots of space. The property is built to a high standard with lovely gardens for the children and dogs to play in.
Nothing to say . .

The accomodation was exceptionally spacioys and spotlessly clean. Host provided of items so no need to pack the kitchen sink.
The weather, but then that cannot be arranged in advance!

We loved the house. It's facilities were great. Very practical and well laid out. It was cozy and comfortable. Lynne was friendly and helpful and kindly helped us with extra logs for the fire. She also let us have a late checkout. I would definitely recommend and would stay again.

Stunning scenery, great walks, generous supply of eggs, milk, bread, fruit and cereal. The rooms are gorgeous and there's so much space. And I got to cuddle a chicken, so that was a plus!
It was as brilliant, I can't think of anything I didn't like.

The property was lovely, spacious light rooms and very clean and had all those little things that make it feel like home straight away. The garden was great, large enough space for the dogs. Easy access form the motorway but beautiful views and scenery. The hosts were very helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Watching the hens out the windows is great fun too.

The views were stunning. Lovely walks on the doorstep. Farmyard atmosphere and the children could visit the animals. Excellent , flexible accomodation of a high standard. Very family friendly and safe for children. Beautiful countryside environment. Little welcoming touches, such as the welcome food package and free toiletries were very useful. The photos on the website are true to life.
