About this house rental
Luxury and location does not get any better than Shingles Delight. Perfectly kept lawn with scattered trees leading down to your own sandy beach, making this the ideal location to enjoy your lake front holiday. Step into another world that is only 55 minutes from Hornsby.
Shingles Delight is truly a home away from home with all the comforts you could dream. The spacious 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom home has an abundance of character, it was built to resemble a home in the Hamptons. With shingled feature walls, a slate roof and large open spaces the quality of the architecture itself is reason enough to visit for a weekend.
When you want to kick back in luxury with someone special or bunk in with a large group, this is the perfect location.
The large and fully equipped kitchen is ideal for all budding master chefs. A dining experience that looks directly onto the lake makes for a romantic candle lit dinner or extends to seat 10 adults for a gourmet feast. The sunset colours are mesmerizing as the sun disappears behind the lake.
Shingles is a place for togetherness and fun. The 3/4 size Abbot and Doyle snooker table will test your aim as you rest by the fire place in winter. In summer you open the doors with so much lawn for everyone to play cricket under the sun or under the spotlights in the evening. Bring your kayaks for a paddle or throw in a line from your own private beach to catch a few flatheads or whiting for dinner.
Shingles is an amazing location for the boat enthusiast. Ski, wakeboard and tube all day on of the most protected bay in the Lake. This is where the locals come to ski even when the wind gets up. There is nothing better than a day of water activity on your own shoreline where you can park your craft at your own sandy beach. If you prefer to sail, enjoy Australia's largest salt water lake at your leisure when the breeze picks up. For large boats there are two boat ramps just 1km along the waterfront.
If all that activity is too much for you then kick back in your hammock as there is no better location for a long afternoon in the shade while sampling some of the Hunter's best Semillion.
Shingles doubles as a great luxury romantic manor, or as a getaway for a larger group sleeping up to 12 people.
This property does have a BBQ.

There is a permanent resident who lives in a granny flat above the garage. The resident has absolutely no access to the main house at all – they have their own entrance. The resident realizes that the main part of the house is a rental holiday house and that there will be noise, music, laughter and the sound of memories being made! 😊 As you can see from the 10 years and the reviews from previous guests- this doesn't cause any issues.

The house was lovely, very clean and well appointed. The location was amazing, beautiful, peaceful and quiet. We had a fantastic time with extended family aged from 18 to 81!! Something for all ages to enjoy.

Beautiful stay, the house and location were perfect for our group. Would rebook!

We had a wonderful time celebrating with the family. The property is spacious and has a great view of the lake. Being so close to the lake was ideal - we were able to let the children paddle in the water and play in the sand without having to bundle everyone and everything into cars. The downside of the water being close (about 50m away) was the concern that a toddler could wander too close. It would have been helpful if the back door had a screen door.
The house has all the things you might need except for some flat sheets on the single beds. The beds had a fitted sheet and doona provided but on a warm night a doona was bit too warm.
Overall though, the house provided us a very pleasant place to spend a family weekend together.

Very suitable location to suit Family from Sydney and Family from Valentine/Belmont. The outlook and settings were great, The open access to the water and parkland was very inviting, Family enjoyed. The home was enjoyed, plenty of room for the 12 of us. The wood fire worked well, kept us warm. Much time was spent with all ages playing pool. A memorable weekend had by all.

This is the second time my husband and I have stayed at this house with Different groups of friends. The house is extremely clean and well appointed.. everything you could need here. Great location and excellent private transport company pick ups and drop offs to local hotel and restaurants.

Great venue, clean, plenty of space, in an amazing location. It’s everything it says it is. A very relaxing weekend. Great communication with the owner. I Highly recommend you check this place out.

We had a wonderful long weekend at this house. Communication with the owner was excellent, she answered all our questions before we needed to ask them.
The house was lovely, older style with beautiful balconies and features in the house itself, and gorgeous views.
Easy access to the water at the end of the yard. The water is quite shallow at the edge and very gradually gets deeper, so it was great for young kids. Perfect for our paddle-boards and kayaks and floating about.
No air con, but plenty of excellent pedestal fans in the house, so we were very comfortable.
We would definitely stay again!

It was a perfect house and location for a few days away with good friends. Great for laying about in the sun, casual swims and a barbeque. 10/10

This was our third time returning to this beautiful holiday house and again, it did not disappoint. We travel with our extended family and the rooms are such a great size. We had 14 in the house and didn’t feel cramped at all. The location is superb as it backs straight onto the lake. We hope to be back next year!

Thank you for sharing your house that had absolutely nothing missing! From the spotless bedrooms and bathrooms to that incredible view... Our group was so comfortable, we could have stayed longer if we didn't have to go back to work!
We had 7 adults who each had their own bed, a fully equipped kitchen which was used both nights for dinner, and a wonderful outdoor space which we were able to use for an afternoon recreational activity of "paint and sip" against that beautiful lake backdrop! Your communication throughout was always prompt and the check in and check out information was very clear and easy understand and follow. Our weekend couldn't have been any more perfect. Thank you.

We stayed at this property with 3 families. There was plenty of space for all of us. The teenagers loved hanging out on the balcony. The younger kids ran around on the grass. Everyone loved the pool table.
We were so impressed with the location - we spent a lot of time on kayaks and stand-up paddle boards. It was easy to access the lake from the house and to supervise kids.
Kylie is a friendly and responsive host. We re-booked for next year before we left.

Our family group had a great weekend at the house at Bonnells Bay. It has beautiful views of Lake Macquarie, especially at sunset. It was very spacious, easily accommodating our group of 12. The pool table was very popular, great fun. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others.

Shingles was an absolute gem of a find and we will absolutely be heading back. Perfect for a getaway with extended family or friends.
Lovely to be able to walk out the back door straight to the lake.
Would absolutely recommend.

Spacious and great location.

Well maintained large house adjoining a marine reserve and Lake Macquarie. Superb sunsets. Dining room windows and upstairs balcony make the most of the views. House is well equipped, beds were comfortable and the owner quickly responded to a faulty light over the BBQ and my inability to find a light switch. House was cold when we arrived (probably unused for a period of time) and the combustion heater (only heating in the house) took a couple of days to reach all the rooms. Plenty of firewood provided.

Plenty of space to catch up with friends. Spacious, clean and comfortable rooms and the pool table was a hit!

I can’t recommend this place enough. The house had everything you needed and was super clean. Lots of room for activities, games or just sitting back and relaxing. Greatest location with amazing views and access to the lake. Kylie was an amazing host with great communication. Everything was easily explained and had no dramas at all. Highly recommend this place and will hopefully be staying here again soon.

Everything was so nice! Went there with a bunch of church friends for just a small retreat. It was a little hot but it was ok with the breeze and the fans, and we got quite lucky with the lovely weather and the sky was so clear. This made the sunsets amazing to watch! We had picnics and bible studies in the backyard and had a dip in the water which was nice. Kylie was also lovely and answered all our queries promptly and the check in process was super easy. We made some great memories and will definitely consider staying again!

Location is amazing with direct access to lake. Host was nice and very well organised. Just a tip for a bigger crew it more 11/12 sleeping places max (not for 14) so just bring some mattress.

This Bonnell's Bay property was a wonderful weekend break away for all the family. The owner Kylie was quick to answer any enquiries we had leading up to our stay...we loved it and the serenity of being on the lake!!! Sunsets were amazing. Thanks for sharing this little piece of paradise!

We had a fantastic three night stay to celebrate a 60th birthday and take some time to relax. Location is fantastic looking out over Lake Macquarie, weather was not kind to us so we could not take full advantage of the the water in our time. The house is fully equipped with everything supplied. The snooker table was a great entertainer with several snooker and pool champions being crowned over the weekend.

Had a lovely weekend away with a few uni friends. House was right on the water, enjoyed going for walks in the mornings and having a few drinks on the upstairs balcony in the evenings. There were only 6 of us (2 couples and 2 singles) so had plenty of space. House was a bit creaky and layout was very random and cool - we kept saying we should’ve thought to host a murder mystery night! A bit older but super clean and definitely had a cool vibe. We were joking before we arrived about who would have to stay in the naughty room, but it was actually super lovely. We ended up sleeping in the other upstairs queen room, the bed was outrageously comfortable. Went to dinner one night at “8@trinity”, a bit fancy and very good. Also got kayaks delivered and went kayaking on the lake right out the back door - very cool, defs a great idea (we had thought surely it would be just as good as kayaking anywhere else, but once we had done it we all agreed it was super cool that it was from our back door!); we brought a video game console so spent a lot of time playing games and playing pool; didn’t get around to foosball though there was a table! No wifi but got good internet coverage on Telstra (enough to support one of our mates doing some laptop work). Host was lovely, very responsive and a joy to chat to, made great recommendations! Also offered us late check out unprompted as it was available, which was very kind! Two of my mates asked for the listing because they were thinking of planning their own family trips.

We stayed for 4 nights for my wife's 40th. unfortunately aa number of guest were not able to join us due to covid restrictions but this didn't prevent us from having a lovely time. Kylie the owner was fantastic from the moment we booked. communication was brilliant. She even sent a lovely platter of food on the day of my wife's birthday. Such a lovely thought, thank you again. Lovely size house, clean and has lots to keep the family entertained. The lake on the doorstep if beautiful, swimming fishing, kayaking and we had a ski boat. lots of fun, fond memories and great photos. Thank you we will be back if you will have us:) Jason, Michelle and family.

We had an awesome weekend in a beautiful setting at shingles. There was 14 adults and we had plenty of room My only concern was that one of my friends sat on the egg chair that collapsed as it was broken. She did receive minor injuries but it could have been much worst. Apart from this everything was perfect

We really enjoyed this place and would recommend it to everyone. We had varied ages 0-40 years and everyone’s needs were met in regards to amenities and beds. The place was spotlessly clean and the lake was a plus for the babies. I cannot fault anything. Our host was prompt with all communication and even went above and beyond to accommodate babies needs and requests. All 10 of us recommend this as the highest star rating as possible. We will definitely be back 😀
