Great location to Purgatory, comfortable beds.

We loved the property and we had a very comfortable stay. The owner was very helpful and nice and we will definitely be returning again.

Took the kids and grandkids here. It was close to Pergatory. Can’t blame the host that the snow wasn’t great but we did have a good time. This isn’t a fancy place but was big and held us all, daughters dog too. We had a plumbing issue and the host was Johnny on the spot to come out and get it taken care of. This isn’t a 5 star place but suited us fine and we would go back. If you are looking for the Ritz, book elsewhere. You definitely need to heed the advise about 3 wheel drive. We might even try the place in the summer sometime.

The house and surrounding area was beautiful. We could not have asked for a better backdrop for our christmas.

The cabin was beautiful with incredible views, amazing atmosphere and adequate room for everyone!

What a gem! Less than 5 minutes, door to door, from Purgatory- can’t beat the location.
We’ve been coming to Durango for years and been waiting for a private, single family home with lots of amenities. If your family likes to ski hard all day then play hard at night, this is the spot for you. The hot tub was the perfect retreat for the adults while the kids played foosball and pool. The three levels and 6 rooms made it easy to spread out. We had three separate families and 13 people but never felt crowded.
I’ve never had a host reach out with the weather report and an offer to check in early. We really appreciated the courtesy and responsiveness!
Need to know: take the 4 wheel drive requirement seriously in the winter. Although just a stones through away from the highway, it would have been impossible to get in and out without it.
Might care to know: There is some minor cosmetic remodeling needed around the house. Little things that don’t take away from the home’s functionality.
Definitely on our list of properties we’d return to. Book early next spring break before we beat you to it!

There were a few things that could have been improved about the listing. The new 6th bedroom is a very odd location as it is only accessible through the downstairs bathroom making for no access to enter or leave the room if someone is using the bathroom. In addition, the listing stated there was a pullout couch on the bottom floor which was not the case. The hot tub was uneven which caused for much of the water to overflow anytime more than one person was in the hot tub. We had to refill it each time we used the hot tub as the water would either be below or near below the jets. The foosball table was not functional which was disappointing. The downstairs mini fridge was warm even though it was running. This made it difficult to accommodate cold drinks as the main fridge upstairs was filled with our food for the weekend. Finally, there were not enough towels to accommodate the max number of 13 people. Our group was well below this number and we had to share towels between couples and there were not enough hot tub towels so these were shared as well between our group.
The kitchen area was sufficient to accommodate our cooking needs and they did have a large amount of wood available for the fire place which was enjoyable. The living room furniture was comfortable and had nice features such as multiple recliners and built in warmers on some of the seats. The cleanliness of the house was good but it did have some areas of age. The house did accommodate our group but did leave us a little disappointed based on the information in the listing.
Overall, the location of the house is ideal and the top feature of this listing as we were 2-3 miles from the resort and rental locations north of the resort.

This is our second time staying at this home and we love it. We had 9 adults (3 couples) and the home has plenty of space for everyone. It’s an older house so keep that in mind when you book. Love how close it is to the mountain, the decently stocked kitchen and quick response of the host.
You do need a 4x4 vehicle and the neighborhood snow plow guy is super helpful and quick to help out.
Only suggestion, would to bring your own beach towels for the hot tub and throw blankets for lounging on the couches.

Ira is a good host and will help with any questions you have
By far this was the best family vacation we’ve had

Kitchen was well stocked, appliances, paper towels, soap, etc. Hot tube wasn't working. Water hot, but jets not working. No instructions on how to use. Downstairs lights weren't working when first arrive, just had to find breaker box and reset. Stairs to basement steep, slippery and unsafe. We had 4 falls, with using hand rails. Steps are short, steep and carpet slippery. Only one snow shovel, would be nice for more. We had alot of New snow everyday and driveway didn't get cleared all the time when we had fresh snow. Foosball table had some broken parts, can be used, but with broken parts not far play. We enjoyed our stay!

We have been coming to the Purgatory area for 30+ years and have stayed on the mountain. Due to group size and needing more living space, we decided to rent a home. What a jewel--- we could not have been more pleased. Room for all, home very well stocked and, Ira -- amazing!!

We had a great time. The cabin fit our family of 8 with rooms to spare. The kitchen was well stocked. We enjoyed the chess and pool tables. The hot tub was heated a little too hot for us to be able to enjoy, but it’s situated with a beautiful back drop of green trees.

Very nice family trip
We enjoyed the cabin very much. Great location and surroundings. The children enjoyed all the cabin had to offer; hot tub, chess set, pool table, large tvs. Would stay again.

Great Cabin for Family Ski Trip
We rented the cabin for an extended family ski trip, and had a really great stay. The house was clean and the quality of beds and linens was really good. It had everything we needed to cook meals for a large family, and had no issues with any of the appliances. There was plenty of gas for the grill, and it was all in working order. It is about 20 minutes outside of Durango, so consider picking up groceries before leaving town. Couches have been recently upgraded and have massage chairs, which are awesome after skiing. The hot tub was great to have as well. Our nine year old(and some of the adults) had fun with the sleds and enjoyed playing with the neighbor's dogs. The house was close enough to the ski resort for convenient skier drop-off. We did get about a foot of snow the last night of our stay, but the neighborhood association was out plowing the road by 430am, so getting out was easy after a team effort shoveling the driveway. For us, that was more of an adventure than an inconvenience, and worth the added space and privacy over a condo. Overall we really enjoyed the cabin, the resort, and Durango in general, and would absolutely return.

A great cabin that is the perfect base for skiing at Purg, with the joys of Durango not too far away
The stay was phenomenal, with comfy beds for everybody, a fully usable kitchen with everything we needed, and the perfect amenities to relax after skiing between the wonderful hot tub, billiards, and satellite TV. The neighbors were helpful to us in navigating the snowstorm that occurred during our stay, and the host was very gracious by offering us free early check-in so that our travel could occur before the worst of the storm hit.

Nice House With Room To Spread Out
We had six adults, two teenagers, and three preschoolers. The house was spacious and accommodated all ages very well. Ira compensated us for our only issue which was the inability to dispose of trash throughout the week as stated in property guidelines.

Nice house
This house is nice for a big group and had lots of places for people to sleep. It's an older house that definitely needs some TLC and a deep clean but it worked for our family. With some people trying to work and stream online classes, we had trouble with the wifi being very slow but Ira was quick to try to resolve the problem by calling the internet provider. The slow internet is the best they offer in the mountains so if you're needing fast wifi that will be a challenge. The kitchen was missing some essential items so we either bought them or made it work (I bought a measuring cup and mixing bowls for the house). Our family cooks a lot on vacations! We enjoyed our stay there and it had what we needed to have a great week!

Big House, Great Location
This house provides a lot of space for larger family vacations. The location was great, close to purgatory for mountain biking and mountain activities. With a deep cleaning, this place would have a five star rating.

Great location, rustic cabin
The location couldn't be better if you're in Colorado to ski Purgatory. You definitely need 4 wheel drive- take tire chains if you don't have 4 wheel drive. The space and rooms were great for our large group, however be aware that the house is older and the heating and plumbing make a variety of interesting noises all night long which is challenging if you're a light sleeper. The house is a little shabby and could use a little updating but the owner was wonderful and very responsive. Overall this property worked out great for our big family ski vacation.

Perfect for our annual family ski trip!
Very comfortable and well-layed out home for our annual, multi-generational ski trip. From ages 4 to 58, we all enjoyed the home and the fun Purgatory offered. We even made two new skiers this trip! Neighborhood pets were a big source of entertainment and fun for the kiddos as they were playing in the snow. Had an occasion to reach out to Ira for a minor problem with the dishwasher to which he was immediately responsive and had it addressed straight-away. No hesitation to rent the property again, and probably will. Thank you for helping us make wonderful family memories!!

Great property and location. We had everything we needed and plenty of room for everyone! Very close to the ski slopes and not far from Durango. Communication was awesome and very accommodating!

Great experience!
With a little better cleaning, this could be a 5 star! Well stocked (towels, kitchen appliances, plates, silverware, double ovens, etc). Lots of room and within one mile of Purgatory ski slopes! Owner says 4wd mandatory and he was right! The ovens were nasty and required cleaning before use. They are self cleaning just hadn’t been cleaned recently. Lots of cobwebs hanging on windows and ceiling fan. This could be an easy fix with a little more care. Overall we’d stay again. Owner was very pleasant!

Amazing Spot in the Mountains
This place was the perfect spot for a relaxing getaway in the mountains. While we spent most of our time exploring the towns along the million dollar highway, when at the cabin, you could typically find us on the Adirondack chairs on the porch Chatting and listening to the sounds of nature. The house also provided all of the amenities you could need and the beds we used were comfortable. That said, the bottom floor was pretty unkempt (cobwebs, dirty decking, and some unclaimed trash), which made the hot tub experience slightly less comfortable. The neighbor’s dogs were running around the neighborhood the entire time, often up at the sliding door on our property, which was upsetting our dog. Lastly, while we now know this is pretty common in Colorado, we didn’t realize there wasn’t central air in the home. It was pretty warm in the 3rd floor rooms most of the night, even with the windows open, which made it challenging to fall asleep. Overall, we’d still stay in this home again, but these things are just call outs for other guests as they did have an affect on our overall experience.

Great location accessing trailheads
This cabin worked well for a group of guys with all the beds available. The kitchen was amazingly well stocked with everything necessary for cooking and eating.
Cleaning was our only issue in a couple of areas. One of the toilets had not been cleaned in weeks and trash was left on top of the fridge. The cleaner may have been in a rush.
The owner was great to deal with and we had a nice stay.

Beautiful mountain getaway for a large group.
We were a family of 8 adults and 1 dog that stayed for a week. We very much enjoyed your home. The home accommodated this number of guests nicely. In fact, we could have had a few more people in the comfortable beds. Some beds were unused. The dining table seated us all nicely. The kitchen was very well appointed with all we needed for cooking for the week. We very much enjoyed having 2 separate TV areas to relax in. We all enjoyed the hot tub after some of our hikes. Only a few jets were working, but that was fine for each of us to work out some sore areas. I would definitely recommend this home for a large group.
