We rented three of the cabins and had such a great stay. The cabins were all amazing!

Wow what a gorgeous place and stay! The views alone and five star, add a hot tub in the mix and this is a gold stay! Thank you very much for having us!

The cottage was wonderful! We really enjoyed this beautiful property.

Our family wanted a getaway after Christmas to go see the lights at Biltmore. We all agreed to stay in something with more mountain "charm", and we were not disappointed with Bearwallow Cottage! We arrived late afternoon and were pleased to see the pavilion decorated with lights, as well as our cottage and very own Christmas tree!!!
The kitchen had all we needed, the beds were on the firm side (which we prefer), the bathrooms were just right , we had plenty of room for our family of 7 both watching TV and at the dining room table. There was a bit of dust in the windows, but the view, the pavilion pickleball, the porch and the hot tub more than made up for that. Although it is a bit outside of Asheville, it was close to several hikes and Chimney Rock. The unpaved road was manageable for both our 4 wheel drive vehicles and one 2 wheel drive SUV and the directions were spot-on. We also had plenty of parking for our 3 vehicles.
Thank you Bearwallow Cottage for a lovely visit!!

We chose a fall time to visit snd the colors didn’t disappoint. The cabin was clean and inviting. The biggest challenge is driving the mountain road to get there as the pavement becomes narrow gravel road with many twists and turns.

The view is stunning. Very clean and maintained property. Would 100 percent recommend. Only issue we had was the hot tub was not warm the first day. The water was low and had not been heating prior to us getting there. It was resolved by the next day and was able to be used.

Great mountain property and easily accessible. Enjoyed watching the butterflies from the front porch with gorgeous mountains in the background. Home has everything you would need.

Bearwallow Cottage was most relaxing! The porch makes the house. We spent a lot of time sitting relaxing, watching morning fog roll in making the hillside meadow dramatic, or watching the stars and moonlight at night. There are several rewarding hikes from the house with panaromic views at the top of the mountain. Great place for a family get together. Even during this year's summer heat waves, the temperature was more than pleasant.

We had a wonderful stay at Bearwallow. As a family, we were celebrating my MIL’s 80th b-day. Her sister was traveling from Arkansas to surprise her and family was visiting from Oregon as well as the SC coast. The cottage was gorgeous and the family loved the nearby hiking trails. One of our favorite pastimes was hanging out on the porch, enjoying the views, the quiet and the sweet sounds of nature. My SIL rounded the corner one evening, thinking she’d heard a deer. Much to our surprise, it was a mama bear and two cubs. We stayed a safe distance but were thrilled to see such a site so the cottage definitely lived up to its name. The cottage was roomy and we found all we needed in the kitchen. We were THRILLED to actually find a CLEAN grill for our use! Most places, it seems like the grill always needs cleaning but not here. The beds were super comfy. My only suggestion would be to add a grab bar in the downstairs bathrooms for added safety. That would be helpful for older guests and the downstairs guests did mention the tubs were a bit slippery. Most places have a guest book where you can find directions for certain things like operating the hot tub. We didn’t find one but there were a few directions posted near the door that were helpful. We had a fabulous time and we would love to come back again! Thanks for a wonderful stay and a great adventure for memories that will last a lifetime.

We absolutely loved this house! The setting was beautiful. One family member who is in a wheelchair had no problem getting into and around the house. The view from the deck is worth a trip! Everything was clean and pleasant. The kitchen was well stocked. We tend to use a lot of towels, so we brought a couple of our own just in case. Still, there were towels there and a washer/dryer that worked very well.

This property was absolutely beautiful. The house was just as described and came very well equipped. Everything you could possibly need was there. There were lots of extra touches like towels for the hot tub, Laundry detergent, hand soap, etc. The views are amazing and we loved that there are hiking trails right off the property. The roads getting up and down the mtn are a little precarious. So be prepared for a gravel one lane road. But otherwise, we couldn't have asked for anything more.

This is the place to be! We had three families and between the pickle-ball court that doubles as a scooter pavilion for the kids, the hiking trails and hot tub, we had the most amazing adventure. Alan, the owner, was a delight and very considerate. It was a chilly weekend but the house was cozy and warm and a perfect, “nice but not too nice” vacation rental to have kids enjoy. We’ll be back!

Gorgeous views
This property is perfectly situated on a mountain top. The back porch (where we stayed the majority of our visit) was awesome. Bird watching, sunrises and sunsets and the beautiful mountain breeze! Perfect get away. The owners were so helpful and welcoming. All our questions were answered quickly and they provided tons of information on the area. Excellent hosts! This property is outstanding in every way.

Wow, this is a really great property. The house is neatly appointed and very comfortable. We cooked several meals and all the necessary supplies were at hand. The house is about 25 minutes by car from downtown Asheville. The road leading to the home turns to narrow gravel for the last little bit but aside from a little washboard, it was well maintained and easy to navigate in a passenger car. The back deck of the house is one of the nicest features, offering up views of the valley below and mountains in the distance. Annie and Alan were very attentive owners. Their attention to detail made the stay all the sweeter. If you're looking for a quiet place a little out of town, look no further.

We celebrated a bachelorette weekend for my daughter and her bridesmaids and the cabin was perfect! We cooked several meals in the kitchen and it was well stocked with all the pots & pans and cooking utensils we needed. Also, the large table was perfect for our big group!
The beds were very comfortable and the cabin was exceptionally clean!
We had a great time shopping in Asheville and then apple picking at Sky Top Orchards! Would love to come back to explore Chimney Rock and the Biltmore!

Our stay at Bearwallow cottage was awesome. We sat on the back porches for hours watching the birds and wildlife. Three nights in a row an orange glow fell over the mountains during sunset. We parked and stayed on top of this mountain. A few of our party drove into Asheville to see the sights and others visited Chimney Rock and Lake Lure. We hiked to the top of Bearwallow Mountain and enjoyed the commanding view. Cousins got together and we cooked out and had a wonderful time together. I'm sure we used every bit of the property - front yard playing football, soccer, wiffle ball and the fire pit at night. All of us were impressed with this property. The owners were accessible and we appreciate the beautiful flowers and all the lotions. We hope to be back in two years!

Beautiful views and a welcoming, warm cozy cabin
We had a wonderful visit to this mountain top cabin. The cabin had everything we possibly needed. We especially appreciated the stock pile of firewood since the temperatures dropped to the single digits. We had ten in our group and everyone slept very comfortably. We were there for New Years Eve and made a big dinner. Everything we needed to cook and serve dinner was provided for. The owners are very helpful and great to work with. Plan to go back soon!

Allen and Anne are wonderful people. The farm experience for the kids was such a special extra. The cottage is perfect for our family and we thoroughly enjoy the mountain hiking and beautiful views. Our grandkids created great memories together here. We will definitely be back.

Wow!
This place is STUNNING!!! The views alone are worth more than anything. Alan and Annie are marvelous people with huge hearts and a gorgeous property. The pictures didn't even begin to do this place justice. We were so happy that they accepted our request because this place is one of a kind! It was only about 30 minutes into the downtown Asheville area from the cottage. Uber wasn't really around much, but I'm sure if you waited long enough one might pop up. The place was very accommodating to 10 of us guys on a bachelor trip. They were kind enough to give us recommendations on great breweries, restaurants and things to do. I will never stay anywhere else anytime I'm back in the Asheville area. The owners were so kind and wrote us notes all over the place which was nice. HIGHLY RECOMMEND This place for any kind of outing in that area, you won't be disappointed.

Relaxing in beautiful surroundings
Stayed here with a group of 8 friends. It was exactly what we wanted -- large porch to gather on, beautiful view, somewhat secluded so our loud voices didn't disturb others. Clean house and yard, comfy beds, well stocked kitchen. We especially appreciated the esssentials it was stocked with so we didn't have to bring everything (dish soap, toilet paper, trash bags, spices, etc.). Thank you for your hospitality--I will definitely consider staying here on future trips (might even bring my family next time).

This cabin was exactly what my family needed. Plenty of space, wonderful owners who were very accommodating, a trail, fire pit, large porch and vicinity to local attractions!

Great House and View
We had a great time at the house celebrating birthdays. If you want to have a great view, feel like there is no one else around, enjoy peace and quite and have some trails to hike, this is definitely the place. The places to eat and shop "nearby" were all great. The only complaint would be the water pressure, but that would definitely not stop me from staying here again.

Spectacular mountaintop retreat with great hikes and gracious owners
Breathtaking views and wonderful hikes right out the front door. Two words: the deck. The photos can't capture all the loveliness and expansiveness of this amazing place. Our time was supremely restful. Everything was comfortable and well-appointed. Kitchen was beautifully equipped for lots of cooking. Annie and Alan were very kind, attentive and helpful before and during our stay. I had a fabulous 40th birthday retreat with dear friends at this beautiful cottage! I'd stay there again in a heartbeat. Can't recommend this place highly enough!

The cabin was spectacular and we were perfectly situated between Asheville and Henderson.
Annie is fabulous and her home is a perfect getaway. There were 7 kids and 5 adults and every age group had a blast! The cabin is located at the foot of 2 great hiking trails and amenities are close by. If you are looking for a mountain getaway... you must consider this cabin.
