Beach location and shallow swimming. Friendly staff
Pools didn’t open until after 8am. Restaurants were average

Adults only Reef section was great for breakfast.
Service, staff and bed were excellent. Little gifts on arrival and fruit to eat was a lovely touch.
A bit too pricey. Over $800 for 1 night.

The weather
We were completely ignored by service staff at every restaurant. 45 mins to get our order taken, no drinks order at all etc. We felt completely invisible. The restaurant staff did not seem trained in hospitality and there wasn't enough service staff - this was at 4 different restaurants, none of which were particularly busy. I would have expected more investment in staff at this hotel chain. The rest of the staff were great.

breakfast at Cowrie great but please include a muesli with cereals
Would prefer earlier room servicing ..... as an older person we appreciate having time mid afternoon for relaxing and were often woken for cleaining. Before 2 pm would be most acceptable. One day was nearly 4 pm - too long

The staff were extremely approachable and made you feel comfortable the entire stay. The restaurants, pools and our Bure accommodation was perfect. The singing was just lovely and always makes the trip to Fiji special.
Having to repeatedly call (3times in one day) to have our complimentary bar fridge restocked. We stayed 5nights and only had our request met twice.
Communication lacking a somewhat.

The place is in desperate need of a reburb. It's still like we are in the 90's but paying 2023 prices. The whole hotel was very tired. Our balcony door wouldn't open, the room was not stocked with basic things such as enough pillows, blankets or glasses. The staff were rude and everything felt dirty and sticky. On top of that the hotel was completely overpriced noting all of the above. I was extremely disappointed.

The pool area and grounds are nice and restaurants
The rooms are dated and need to be updated. Food with happy hour in reef wing was basic for the price we pay and not enough. One umbrella in reef wing pool not enough. Maybe a pool bar in reef wing be nice.

Reef suites adults only wing well worth choosing for a quiet relaxing stay. The daily sunset cocktails and canapes a lovely social experience!
Golf course excellent value for Reef guests too!

Everyone was really friendly.
We paid lots of money to be there but some restaurant were fully booked and no booking at the spa as our package included Massage.

Amazing location & ammenities, people & staff are fantastic.. so great for kids
Felt like Shangri La cutting costs & weren’t employing enough staff to share the workload at such a busy time.

The whole team are fantastic, providing a welcoming, friendly and exceptional service to guests. The the food and facilities are fantastic, we couldn't want for more.
Only having a one week stay, two would have been great, three even better!

Beautiful ground’s everything accessible beach and pool areas pristine. Clean towels.
Amenities by the pool and restaurants needed to be cleaned more often. They were often a bit grotty. Disappointed with the kayaks and paddle boards. In poor condition and one started sinking on us. With the amount of people needed to be more of them. Where was the glass bottom kayak in the advertisement?

You really cannot beat this property for location - both in Fiji and the actual resort itself. The rooms are all orientated around the action, so everything is just a short walk away from the restaurants and pools OR you are in the private, adults only area and are provided a buggy to get around. Win-win. We stayed at three different resorts on the coral coast and the pool/beach area was by far the best at Shangri-la.... as was the buffet breakfast.
The nanny we hired was so beautiful and caring with our baby.
The resort is as stunning as the pictures look.
3% surcharge on all items - was told that this was a mastercard charge, only to then be charged another 'mastercard' charge on our account of 3% as well. There was also a room fee per night of $150 that was not disclosed at the time of booking. Additional charges are annoying, but ok ....as long as you are aware of them when you are selecting your accommodation.
The rooms are as clean as I suspect they can be for the age/condition. There was a moudly smell to our bathroom, a leak in our ceiling (air-con we think) and a few cockroaches.... all of which I am sure are actually quite difficult to avoid on a humid tropic island with older facilities.
This resort is in need of a bit of a facelift, but the staff keep the grounds well maintained.
As with any resort in Fiji - be prepared to spend your money on food. It is expensive. We went to the grill restaurant on night one - were given laminated menus (decor was plastic chairs... ) and ordered what we thought would be enough food for the two of us for circa $120 AUD and no drinks. The food was lackluster, not filling (for example, the $20 entree had two prawns) and we were really disappointed. HOWEVER - after this experience, we were surprised that the buffet was so good and the rest of our meals at the other restaurants on the island were very nice. I'd just avoid the Bar & Grill!

We booked a Bure in the adults only section, it was seperate from the business of the resort and we had our own buggy for our stay. The free cocktail hour that was included each afternoon was great!
The resort is quite outdated and could use a refresh. Our room wasn’t very clean, bed was uncomfy and aircon wasn’t working properly and we weren’t offered any compensation when we advised staff. The main areas of the resort are incredibly busy, lots of children and some staff weren’t as friendly as other places we stayed on our trip.

the property is well located. Slightly confusing to navigate. no lighting in the room apart from reading lights and the bedside.
room was not ready till 4pm upon asking the front desk about it the Director of rooms threatened us that he can deny us check in.
The air con in the room did not work. called 5 times for someone to come and after 1.5hrs engineering arrived. They came fixed it and left 30 min later it would stop working this continues to happens 2 to 3 times. it is now 10.30pm the air conditioning unit is still not working. DM decides to room move us for the night only to assure us that he will the issue fixed tomorrow or move us entirely to room category we booked.
the following day the issue is not fixed it’s 3pm room is not service nor is the new room ready for the move. The new room only became ready at 5.30pm. With us checking out the next morning it is pointless to move. Engineering comes to room at 6.30pm and within and hour the air con is now fixed.
No service recovery offered. refused acknowledge that they could have had engineering fix the issue during the day whilst we were away.
the DOR welcome to hotel only to threaten us to deny checking in was the most unprofessional experience we have had in years of traveling. not worthy of the name shangri la. worst experience ever. stay at your own risk.

The warm temperature, breakfast buffet was ok and plentiful.
I left a pair of my shoes in our room when we left, my daughter was staying at the resort and I asked her to go to reception and collect them. Of course they were not there...obviously someone liked them argh! My son inlaw also had his sun glasses stolen from their table where they were dining. I dont recommend anyone getting The package which included all meals with accomodation. Better value to pay as you go . The waiting staff were often grumpy and unhelpful. Mold in bathroom and stains in hand basin - all a bit tired and need replacing. The golf course was beautiful but fairways were in desperate need of a mow.

the staff in general were genuinely friendly.
as others commented as well but the facility is old and cleaning isn’t that great either. it feels a bit dirty overall.
3.0 / 5.0
Facilities are good and breakfast is amazing. The beds are very comfy also.
The wait at checkin is terrible and you have to park your own car, if they do have valet service they don’t offer it you probably have to ask which isn’t acceptable when you’re paying high prices.
4.5 / 5.0
Beautiful location, lots more of activities & fun things to do.
No supermarket nearby

The staff were absolutely amazing, from housekeeping to restaurant staff to everyone along the way. There was so much to do, the facilities were excellent. We loved it.
Nothing to dislike. Even when our room had a blocked shower drain on arrival- and we flooded the bathroom- they sent someone immediately to deal to it.
2.5 / 5.0
Cleanliness
Carpark, wasn’t offered valet service so had to take car down ourselves. Found out later that they do valet but you have to ask which shouldn’t be the case.
Checkin was terrible, not enough staff working so had to wait even with a baby crying.
