Superb

It was an ideal location as I was travelling from Norfolk to Cornwall. I am into Butterfly photography and there were a couple of sites close by. The Hotel and staff were very good, so no problems proper job, would certainly use it again.

Superb

Everything was good as usual. I stay here mostly when I am in the area. The staff are all very good and helpful. Lovely food and an excellent breakfast. Recommend.

Will stay again - welcoming & very good value.

Easy to find on our way to London - with adequate parking, also easy to access. All the staff were professional & friendly. The evening meal & breakfast excellent, freshly & correctly cooked (keep this chef!). Bliss - NO DOGS!! We're very tired of going everywhere, it seems, where 'dogs very welcome'

All of the staff were friendly and helpful. All meals were great, good menu choices and food was really tasty. Room was comfortable and the garden area was a bonus.

WIFI - unable to connect to WIFI. As this was a business trip, it would have been highly beneficial.

Great little pub in good location for our stay.

Nice size double room with large en-suite and fabulous breakfast.

Traffic could be heard all night but just before leaving we realised one of our windows wasn’t totally closed!

Easy check in, friendly staff and accommodation was near friends we were visiting so all worked well

Room & bathroom were quite small but I think it’s fair to say that having booked a small double we couldn’t expect any different and price reflected this.

Pretty good value, room OK, shocking breakfast!

Bed was actually comfy! (Room 8). Plenty of beers available from the bar, evening meal was OK and the room was pretty tidy

Quite possibly the skimpiest breakfast I've ever been given! One sausage, two small rashers of bacon, tiny bowl of beans and approx 3 mushrooms sliced up. In all covered less than 50% of the plate. Left there quite hungry

Excellent value for money and very comfortable.

Very welcoming staff. Kitchen was closed when I arrived on a Sunday afternoon but the chef made me a sandwich. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. The breakfast was cooked to order and lovely. It was really good value for money.

There wasn't really anything to complain about. I have stayed here before and will do so again.

Very good

The service is very good and the staff, friendly. The room was spacious. Breakfast was prompt, adequate and nicely cooked. Ilchester is a small, quaint town and is quiet at night.

Idyllic country respite

This is a lovely little stone-floored hotel. The staff was wonderful, friendly, and very helpful. The restaurant meals were great too.

We were upgraded to a lovely large ground floor room, our door in a vestibule behind a closed door - but every time the hotel front door was opened and inadvertently slammed shut, the vestibule door slammed too. Not fun at around 7am!

Perfect location for a family visit!

The staff were wonderful and friendly. The restaurant menu was perfect for us (fish and chips were very good!). The English breakfast was very good. Plenty of parking and good WiFi everywhere.

I have stayed in this hotel on a number of occasions. It is one of my favourites as it is situated in a small Somerset village location just off the A303. The room I had was a single with a large bed with an entrance suite which is slightly cramped but adequate. The food and beer is good and the breakfast excellent as are the staff.

A great place for an overnight stop over.

Comfortable and welcoming hotel in a small village. Ideally placed as an overnight stop on the way to the West Country. Not much to see in Illchester but there are some walks nearby and the hotel has a nice bar and serves good food.

Easy to find, on-site parking, comfortable room. The food was wholesome and the service was friendly and attentive.
