Nice traditional ryokan in a beautiful village in the mountains, close to World Heritage Villages Ainokura, Suganuma and Shirakawago. The staff were very kind and helpful, and agreed to change our meals when we contacted them and told them we are vegetarians. We stayed in a clean, traditional Japanese style room with a mountain view and had full access to the ryokan's onsen bath (with a warm and cold bath as well as sauna inside, and a warm bath outside).
Everything was great! Some parts of the ryokan looked a little old, but that's part of the charm.

Dinner was great experience, with the Yakuta clothing. In the evening they have a little cultural dance act. Onsen was a nice experience.
Breakfast is quite early (latest 07:45). Building was quite old. There is not much to do in the neighbourhood.

Good hotel with onsen in-out door. Have little show traditional dancing. Nice dinner and bfast meal. And make sure you like tofu.
Make sure for transportation. It is village, limit public transportation and with schedule limit too.

My view was brilliant from my room. Near a bus stop, be careful of the hill leading up though. The onsen was great. The room was big, in which the bed was comfortable, still the Japanese hard bed though. Staff allowed me to leave all of my luggage before I checked in which was great! Staff were really friendly all around the hotel. Dinner was a traditional Japanese dinner, and had a lot of dishes, the same was with breakfast. A razor, hair band, toothbrush ect were available. You are also given a choice of a small, medium or large yukata. I really enjoyed it here. I highly recommend it.
There was no shower in the room however there was one downstairs and had toiletries already.

Good dinner and onsen at property
nothing much to do in the vicinity

Not too expensive ryokan near the mountains with beautiful outdoor onsen. Vouchers given for gift shop nearby. Food is decent and the dining service is superb.
Getting there is a challenging. Tried asked for transport from bus stop to hotel but didn't respond to my message through booking.com, should have called them directly. Climbing up the slope with luggage and rain is difficult. World heritage bus is infrequent but not an issue getting a seat as it is not crowded. Some bus doesn't go to shin takaoka so we took the wrong bus which ends at Johan.

Very friendly staff and nice service. nice outdoor onsen.
