We loved the location and the beach. The wildlife around the house is amazing but you need to like all the insects that will also find a way into the house. If you don't mind that it is a dream house.

Huts are cute and grounds are well-kept, jungle creatures are beautiful, staff was mostly friendly, beach was nice.
Had NO idea that a “resort” at this price point would not offer air conditioning-it never crossed my mind that a place in the middle of a jungle wouldn’t have that option for travelers who might be accustomed to that. My bad for not verifying, We got extra fans which helped (a little). However the bedroom walls are only partially connected to the roof, so even those rooms are completely open to the jungle. My friend woke with a scorpion 🦂 on the INSIDE of her bed’s mosquito net, right by her face.
All food must be locked in cabinets to keep critters away, but that didn’t stop raccoons from bringing a bag of shrimp they found elsewhere to OUR house at 3:30am to eat which triggered the resident dogs to start barking incessantly until we went out and chase them all away. When we told management, they said “That is just what dogs do. They bark.” Oh, thanks for enlightening us. However since the 4 dogs belong to the owners/managers, perhaps THEY ought to contain them at night.
Between that, the howler monkeys (which truly sound as if the gates of hell have opened up…and at 4-5am most days), AND being sweaty/terrified of waking with a poisonous insect on your face every night, no one slept soundly the entire week. It’s a cute place, the grounds are kept very nicely, the housekeeper was efficient, and laundry service was appreciated since everything you own is damp/wet all the time due to the humidity (and this was early April…I shudder to think what summer would be like). It’s a cute concept, but if you’re a spoiled Westerner who likes to sleep in a cooler environment, has any type of insect phobias or doesn’t want to be told you have to pay your $1000+ balance in cash (with NO mention of that until we arrive) when the nearest ATM is in Puerto Viejo, about 10-15 miles away, this may not be the place for you.

Being completely immersed in the rainforest surrounded by monkeys and other wildlife while in an open air house is an experience like no other.

Jungle paradise. comfortable and cozy. close to the beach.
fridge and outside shower need a repair. second hammock would be a big plus.

all in all really nice. we had a great time. Very friendly and helpful staff. Landry was included.
only one thing was bothering me. 2 cameras pointing inside the „living room“. For whatever reason they are needed, that is not nice. apart from that there was nothing to blame.

If you love nature and want to feel next to it then this is your place. It’s beautiful.
Owners are lovely and helpful and leave you to get on with your stay or are there if you need them.

Really pretty scenery and great beach access. Friendly staff.
Double check they have the correct price. The handwritten receipt with my balance was $110 us dollars more than what was quoted to me on the booking website. The booking price was honored but double check before you pay.
You have to pay half of the amount of the stay immediately after booking which isn't noted anywhere while booking online.

We stayed 6 nights at Congo Bongo. I could have stayed a lifetime. You’re living In a jungle. The owners are amazing and helpful. They came by to check on us every day, did our laundry for free, and even drove us up to the Ara Project since we didn’t have 4 wheel drive. It was magical. The grounds are in the jungle and it’s a 10 minute walk through the jungle to a beautiful secluded beach. The houses are perfect. Clean, beautiful, open. artistic. The energy there is undeniable. It’s not cheap (about $180 per night) but since there’s a kitchen, we saved money by cooking. We rented bikes to Manzanillo (10 minute bike ride or 10 minute walk along the beach to the town)

We enjoyed everything. The property, the bungalows we stayed in as we had 2, the wildlife and the easy access to the beach.
There was not anything I did not like to be honest.

AMAZING!! We loved everything about it. We felt safe and well taken care of, but also felt like we were a part of the natural surroundings. Nice walk to an amazing quiet beach. We loved all of the wildlife and plants on the property. It was a short drive to Puerto Viejo for shopping and restaurants, and a nice walk to Manzanillo and the nature preserve trails. This was not a hotel, it was an experience.
We loved being woken every morning by toucans and howler monkeys, but some people may not like that.

we stayed here 7 nights. We liked it so much that we decided to spend our last week in Costa Rica here. It's a beautiful secret place. Sleep in the sounds of the jungle, wake up with the monkeys, saw green macaws, sloth, frogs etc. the kitchen is openspace with the most gorgeous views.
Access to the beach is superb, an adventure in itself. The kids love it here. highly recommend for nature lovers.
Thank you Congo Bongo for a wonderful holiday.

we had a great stay, the best in costa rica. this is not a fancy hotel but we felt like kings and queens. right in the middle of the jungle and next to a amazing beach.
i saw green macaws while cooking, my child woke up in the morning and saw an agouti, on our way to the beach we saw a toucan and many frogs. we slept with the sound of jungle and woke up with the monkeys.
staff was really nice and laundry was included which was really nice for my family.

The location, in the middle of the jungle and close to the beach, is nice!
Quite expensive for what it really is! At least the interior of Dream Caribbean House is very basic, with a bad mattress.
Also, please note: After cancelling one of my reservations, I had a very hard time and needed to send ~10 emails to get back the full amount of deposit. Not trustworthy from my point of view.

Staying in the middle of the jungle was a great experience! They offered free laundry, which was great for a family in the middle of our trip.
I wouldn't stay for more than 2 nights because it can become a bit uncomfortable, but overall the experience was very good.

Real life nature 🏝

Peaceful and secluded setting in mid jungle, lots of wild flowers and wild animals around, you'll see howler monkeys a few trees away and humming birds a few metres away. We walked to the local beach and most of the time had the long stretch of beach to ourselves. We had River Dream House and were glad of air conditioning in bedrooms, this kept insects out.
Mari-Sol our hostess was lovely. It's a lovely touch they do your laundry for you each day..
Be prepared for a lot of insects!
