The location of the hotel is lovely. We came there for my husband's birthday weekend away and I'd mentioned it whilst booking the place.
My words can't express the hospitality provided by the hotel staff.
We've got a free room upgrade, a box of chocolates and a happy birthday card, a white table cloth with sparkling bits for our dinner, all drinks on the house and an amazing Happy Birthday desert.
My husband was just speechless after every little surprise delivered by the hotel. I cannot thank them enough for the service and hospitality. Best ever stay!
Everything was perfect 👌

Grounds to the hotel are extensive and beautiful. Walked my dog off the lead and she loved it. Spotted a deer and a fox early morning. Hotel staff very cheerful and helpful, a real pleasure. The bed was extremely comfortable, pillows too. Rooms quiet, water hot. Bar had a real ale which was lovely as so many places only do larger now. The food was good enough, pork loin was quite tough but the rest on offer was nice if a little pricey. I stayed 2 nights and ate both nights on my own with my dog in the lounge, I felt perfectly at ease. All in all a very nice experience.
Standard of food for the price could be improved although the actual menu was good.

The Staff was friendly, breakfast was quite good. The room was cold and the heaters were working at halls but not the room.
That room was cold.

Lovely location
We had a meal in the bar and my Caesar salad was awful, the mayonnaise dressing tasted like vinegar , we also asked the barman the end of the meal if they had camomile tea
to which he said he would go and check and half an hour later I went to ask again and he said no they haven’t got any, when we went for breakfast we found that there was some next to the coffee machine. At breakfast I asked for butter and there wasn’t any. There were very few residents staying so surely these very minor details should have been addressed.
On top of this there was No hot water for showering etc.

The staff, location and building itself was lovely. The lady who served us breakfast was very good
There was no hot water for the entire stay so we were unable to shower

Location of the property was handy for Bristol and good connection to Gloucester
There was a strange smell of damp across the hotel. First bedroom allocated on ground floor with an external access door not good for lone female travellers. No hot water in the room, all room furnishings and tv dated.
3.5
Spacious communal areas. Nice menu.
Breakfast seemed to have been cooked for some time.
4.0
Room very comfortable
Dinner & breakfast excellent, food nice & hot & fresh
Love the ability to walk the dogs & have a ground floor room for ease of access
All the staff were lovely & very helpful
Would certainly stay again
It was quite noisy but was expected as there was a wedding party.
The main problem with the noise were people letting their room doors slam shut whatever the time.
Plus a guest opposite my room was unable to get into her room as her ?partner had locked the door & she was hammering & shouting for over 20-25 minutes for him to presumably wake up & let her in (his name was Nick, don't know her's), this was at almost midnight

Nice quiet location in the country, not a busy city.
Shower was very temperamental.
5.0
Lovely hotel in an amazing setting, with loads of open space to run our dog. The staff were friendly and professional.
3.5
Comfortable bed- quiet ambience.
Curtain falling in the room, TV control weak- problem either with battery or antenna. Breakfast absurdly expensive
3.0
Cheap, convenient and friendly staff with a comfortable bed.
The toilet did not flush well. Not the best shower. The sofas in the room looked like they needed a good clean.
3.5
Friendly and helpful staff. Quiet location and comfortable. Lovely grounds.
2.5
Spacious bedroom, comfortable bed. Quiet countryside. Cheerful, helpful staff.
1. The room key refused to work and the room was felt like a 100+ metre hike from the reception desk. It turned out there was a known problem within room and its electronic door lock but nobody thought to warn us when the key was programmed and issued. (Room number: 308 ).
2. Only when you stand in the bath to take a shower do you notice a small notice telling you that a non-slip mat is available on request from Reception - again a very long hike away and if course you need to get dressed first, and then undressed again. Why not ask the guest at the time of check- in.
3. Lack of any brush (or anything else) in the bathroom to clean the WC pan. This seems to be a growing fashion in UK hotels and is to be deplored, at least when the room is not booked only for single occupancy!

Vert warm welcome, easy check-in, room nice and tidy and good breakfast
Staff training in making cocktails

Location was lovely and the peace and quiet.
How the hotel is ranked a 4 star I do not know. Very basic room, dated. First room given to us had the curtains falling off wall, lots of damage, old furniture and stains on carpet, dirty, absolutely horrible.

The Main hotel is a beautiful building set in lovely grounds and the location was perfect for the family party I attended at a nearby rugby club. Breakfast was good- plenary of choice and good quality food.
The rooms are tired and in need of updating. There was no hot water which we mentioned when we checked out and the staff admitted to knowing about but we were not informed or compensated! The room was hot- no aircon or fan.
3.0
The breakfast was adequate . The cedar tree beside the car park is magnificent
The bedrooms need air conditioning. Poor wall pictures are worse than having nothing. Musak in public rooms are reminiscent of a supermarket.
4.0
The welcoming and pleasant staff and that it's dog friendly. The breakfast was nice and plenty of it.
The rooms were a little bit dated I'm probably a bit biased as I'm a decorator and they are past their best,. The house at the entrance to the hotel have 2 huge dogs which terrified my wife and dog. ( these won't bother you unless you walk past their gates). This is nothing that the hotel can control.
3.5
Nice big room with direct access to the grounds unfortunately didn’t stop raining so couldn’t make the most of the grounds
Boiler broke on the first night so no hot water

Everything was wonderful and it was such a beautiful location
We had to string together our electrical cord for my sister and me to both use our c-pap machines.
1.5
The grounds and external building are lovely.
Keycards didn’t work at any point, room wasn’t made up on arrival nor was it clean. Food in the restaurant in the evening wasn’t edible.

When we arrived we were welcomed with a warm smile from Frankie. She was able to assist us with the checkin and directed us to our room. We were made aware of all the facilities and were offered breakfast.
I was unable to pay cash for a drink at the bar. I am not sure whether this was normal.
3.0
The hotel was a very nice location, the staff very friendly and very good price.
The twin room we were in had no bedside tables or reading lamps, which meant we had to improvise with a chair and a luggage rack and use the light on our phones for reading. I would have thought these items were pretty standard contents of a hotel room.
