Breakfast and diner were both excellent as was the bar. Room was very comfortable and we had a great view.
Nothing

The meals were splendid. This is a Victorian (at a guess) Stately Home & felt like it.
Nothing but the circumstances that landed us there a day early were due to incompetence by Booking.com, reported on elsewhere.

Craig and his three identical brothers were truly amazing in their customer service.
lack of water pressure in some rooms.

The hotel is as beautiful as its location and Craig was an absolutely superb host - offering to make us dinner on our anniversary even though the restaurant was shut. The room was extremely comfortable, warm and with luxurious appointments. A truly special experience that we will never forget.
That we only had time to stay one night!

Bar; setting. I have stayed there/dined there multiple times in the past 15 years. sadly, the dining area was closed due to lack of staff.
No restaurant. Breakfast was excellent!

Fabulous!! Only words to describe our stay. Beautiful room. In the evening it was lovely sitting in front of a crackling fire in wonderful surroundings. Everything was spotless. Craig was very attentive and helpful. We had the best breakfast in a hotel for many years. Would highly recommend a stay.

Stunning old hunting lodge/manor house - beautifully restored with lovely guest areas. Nice room of adequate size with a double bed (not king or queen) and refreshed bathroom with shower, bath, basin and toilet. Nice toiletries, comfortable bed and well appointed room with antique furnishings. Very good cooked breakfast.
Sadly it was the end of the season, poor weather and no chefs about, so although we had hoped for a romantic manor house experience we were the only guests in a big empty place with no atmosphere and a closed restaurant. To be fair we were advised, a few days before arriving, that the restaurant would not be open for our stay. We were told there were other options nearby, but the only one less than an hour away was fully booked so w3 had a bottle of wine in the lounge with a packet of crisps for dinner - not really what we were hoping for, especially given the cost of the room. I really think places should rethink their prices if they cannot offer guest the full experience. The wifi in our room was pretty very poor but it was ok in the guest lounge. The water pressure in our room was so weak that I gave up the idea of a bath and did not even bother to try to wash my hair - I would never have gotten the shampoo out! Full of guest having a lovely time with the restaurant and bar full on this would be a lovely place to enjoy a night or two.

Breakfast was typical but good.
Very poor staff/owner consideration. Window was not properly secured prior to check in, creating a tiny gap at top which was not noticeable. This allowed hundreds of Gnats (Midges) to fill room. Owner's answer was a can of bug spray. He did not bother to investigate himself. He would not move us to another room, although there were empty rooms. He gave no apologies and shifted the blame to us because we had the audacity to use the lights in the room which he claimed was the reason for the bugs. He accepted no responsibilty: He does not check the rooms when guests leave???. It ruined our stay as we had to have all four of us stay in one room with my two teenage children sleeping on the floor. Pathetic customer service. I almost felt sorry for the man as he had no abilty for logic or reason in his thought process.

beautiful location; grand old stylish hotel
no restaurant service in operation, minuscule ~10m2 room, way overpriced. but definitely stay there if you don’t mind the cost!

Very beautiful hotel, big and comfortable room, very friendly host who helped us out when we had problems finding a place to have dinner.
Unfortunately the restaurant was closed and seems to be closed since a while, so it should be taken away from the description. Very week shower.

stately manor home with fine antique furnishings. Beautifully decorated bedroom with updated bathroom. Very comfortable bed. Quiet rooms with no noise from other rooms. Several unique sitting areas downstairs. small bar room and large lovely breakfast room. Full English breakfast available on the buffet as well as traditional continental offerings. staff was very friendly and accommodating. plenty of off street parking. temperature controls in room.
no complaints. a bit of a country setting. they were not serving dinner during our stay due to staff shortages but let us know several days before arrival. We had dinner in Ullapool, which was about an hour away.

Rooms were very clean and felt luxurious. Peaceful location with stunning views. Exceptional staff ensured we had everything we needed.
The only downside was the restaurant not being open for evening meal due to staffing issues.

Our room was wonderful it exceeded expectations. The breakfast was lovely and very fresh. The manager Craig works very hard and explained that at the moment they could not offer evening meals because of staff shortages. This was such a shame as you can imagine that the meals would have been excellent. The hotel oozed history and the atmosphere was very
friendly.

Location is stunning
price its a bit high

Breakfast was the only good thing.
Block out curtains or blinds. Mattress either very old or very soft, couldn't sleep after 4 hours. Despite not having kitchen staff for many weeks, judging from reviews on website, only received an email 4 days prior to stay informing us that dinner can't be served at hotel. A bit deceitful, had I known on booking or shortly thereafter I could have chosen a different place. Only knowing 4 days prior to arrival limits ones options on alternative accommodation. Very hostile reception from owner on mention this! Avoid.

. Beautiful house in beautiful grounds, wild deer cropping grass in front of us. Room amazing. A special place and a great place to stay. Young man in front of house most helpful and welcoming. Breakfast delicious
The hotel is suffering from lack of staff, so no evening meal, was told this would improve next week. Hope so as this will make this one of the best stays in Scotland.

I have already filled in a form, so this is the second one and find it a bit of a nusiance.
I don't normally like a cooked breakfast, so when I do I am a bit critical of what I do eat and felt that I should have been asked white or brown bread, toasted evenly if possible and the egg dishes I had were not especially well cooked, I do appreciate the shortage of staff in these difficult times.

A fabulous building with lots of character and history.
The price, totally overpriced for an unsatisfactory service.

The hotel was a former hunting lodge and was full of character and history. The hotel was in a beautiful location, surrounded by mountains and lochs. The hotel was exceptionally clean and comfortable. The food was excellent, but it was the attentive, helpful staff that truly made our stay memorable. Loved every minute and will definitely return!!!
A slightly bigger room would have been better for us.

The location for our NC500 road trip was ideal , the Hotel was nice and peaceful, breakfast each day was very good with plenty of choice and the evening meals were very tasty, a special mention to Craig who was so friendly and helpful throughout our stay , he works tirelessly to make sure everything runs smoothly and also the lady who served the food of an evening , she was so pleasant and helpful and nothing was too much trouble, sorry I didn’t get her name
Nothing really if I was being really picky the only thing I would suggest would be some background music at breakfast and in the bar/ restaurant of an evening, I think it helps to break the ice
4.5 / 5.0
Great hotel - lovely lounge area and for dinner we were given private dining room with our friends which was superb. Food was excellent - both breakfast and evening meal.
Bedroom a bit on the small side
