Great location (few minutes walk from the station). Super friendly, polite and helpful staff (spoke English well and found other means of translating if something wasn’t clear). The building is a beautiful old Ryokan, which met all expectations and ideas of what a proper original ryokan would look like. We even got to try the private onsen (remember to book it in time!) and enjoyed time in the relaxation room. The food experience was just amazing!! We had the Japanese breakfast both mornings and for dinner we had the kaiseki the first night and shabu shabu the second night. The room was also big and beautiful, clean and when we came back from dinner our futon beds had been made. The whole stay from the entering the establishment to our check out will be a memory and experience we will not forget!
It was our first time experiencing sleeping on futons and we conclude that it is not for us. It was a little bit too hard, yet we are happy to have had this experience. Loved the pillows though.

Breakfast and Dinner were both amazing experiences. We loved how friendly and hospitable the staff were. We especially loved the onsen and the massage room. We used both the private onsen and the public onsen. I can speak for all four of us that this was the best experience that we’ve ever had out of all the accommodations we’ve stayed at in our many different travels.
We have no complaints whatsoever. It was truly a wonderful stay.

Quaint Ryokan, lovely staff and excellent food.
Located in a quiet pretty town. Less touristy compared to Takayama.

The welcome we received upon arrival was lovely. The ryokan feels very authentic with little hallways going off in all directions! We travelled through Japan for two weeks and this place had my favourite Onsen. To sit outside in the Onsen while it was snowing was magical. The breakfast was of course very Japanese and very abundant. We were never able to eat it all.
Being able to access our car easier would have been helpful - but it wouldn't deter us from staying again. Everything else was wonderful.

Everything! What a wonderful place to relax and enjoy a traditional Ryokan. Loved every minute and the staff were so kind and accommodating.
That we had to leave.

Great meals, amazing baths, great ambience and relaxation rooms. Highly recommended!
Only that possibly that the rotemburo bath hours were restricted!

The place is really beautiful, we were back for the second time and all was perfect as we remember! The staff is very kind and the food is super good, and it was served in a private dining room. The room was lovely and warm, and had all what we need to make tea and have a relaxing time...We enjoied every moment and we will be back again for sure!
