A very characterful building right in the heart of the town. Good sized carpark at the back.
The room was very comfortable, lovely bed, with everything we needed.
Robin was very welcoming and all the staff were friendly and helpful.
The cooked breakfast was excellent on both mornings, also a good variety of other options and plenty of drinks available. No evening meal available but A Taste of Raj, a short walk away, was excellent.
We stayed during a live concert at the brewery next door and enjoyed the music through the open window, but it stopped promptly at 11, so didn't cause any disturbance.
We liked the town and will definitely return.
A few cobwebs, but in a place that old you're never going to get them all!🙂
The outside space looked very unloved, just needed some attention.

Love these old coaching inns.
More hot water needed

Room was clean and spacious. Staff were very welcoming and were understanding of my son who has ADHD.

The location in the centre of town was convenient. The bed was fairly comfortable.
The Hotel is basically failing and lacks any level of investment. It doesn't serve evening meals and barely opens for drinks in the bar. The whole place is very tired indeed. Keys for the room were left on a desk just inside the door on top of a hand written receipt with your name on it, no welcome reception at all. Shower was tepid, inside a chipped bath with hair in the plug hole (not mine!). Toilet is badly stained. Didn't stay for breakfast so I can't comment.

If you want true history in a wooden beamed room The Swan is fantastic.
The showers need a bit of TLC.

Very clean and comfortable bed

It was clean and comfortable. Had a nice breakfast included.
Very outdated and in desperate need of some renovation and freshening up. There was a big leak in the breakfast room coming from someone showering above. Quite a lot of choice missing from the draught selection of drinks.

Breakfast very nice

The fact that all the problem areas were previously known and had been addressed with 'work arounds' - namely:
1. Non functioning plug socket - extension lead supplied via a working socket
2. Central heating not working (it was a cold night) - a Dimplex portable radiator supplied
3. No reception staff - keys and explanation note left
4. Hot water slow to appear - apology note left in room with instructions to let water run for a time (OK but sink was not emptying quick enough)
5. Restaurant not functioning - advice given as to where dining was available
The fact that many of the basic facilities you would expect from a hotel were unavailable without the 'work around'.

Hotel was in darkness on arrival at 8.15pm, with no facilities available, windows were screwed open and no way of shutting out the noise from the main street or the loud church bell that rang on the hour every hour. Bathroom was grim with only warm water and very poor shower.
Very tired hotel with very limited facilities.

. Nothing, no redeeming qualities whatsoever. For what you pay it does not represent good value.
Everything, dirty, tired.
