Friendly staff, the evening food that was available was tasty and the service was excellent. The vibe was relaxed and comfortable.
We weren't told upon arrival that the gas in the kitchen wasn't working - it was only when we went to the bar after checking in that the very friendly bar staff informed us, but weren't sure which items from the evening menu wouldn't be available. We enquired if we'd be allowed to bring back a takeaway to our room seeing as the kitchen wasn't fully functioning but again, the staff weren't sure.
In the end we did had an evening meal at the Roebuck which was very good. The breakfast however was just average.
The room was comfy enough, if a little dated, and could have done with more plug sockets.

Amazing staff, so friendly and helpful. We were made to feel very at home and the hotel, bar and restaurant had a lovely relaxed feel. Food was very good, especially the Sunday roast, and was great value for money. Comfy bed and a lovely view of the garden from our room. Would thoroughly recommend and will be returning!
The building is very old so has some problems with damp, leaks, etc. The decor was tatty in places and could do with refreshing. It didn't affect our stay in this charming hotel though. Light bulb out in our bathroom and no toilet brush. It would also be handy if they could do cash back for the pool table as the card reader was temperamental.

Staff and food very good. Breakfast choice good and appears to be cooked to order which means you get a fresh hot breakfast. Better than a buffet
Room was adequate for what we wanted but just looking a little tired

Dinner and breakfast were good food and good value.
I liked the young English local barman who was pleasant and helpful.
I didn't like the fact that the bedroom window didn't open making it unpleasant during the night as I like fresh air to come in.
I didn't like the fact that many of the staff had a poor command of the English language and/or strong foreign accent.

Staff were pleasant and they allowed us to check in to room early.
Room we were given was way down in what seemed like a basement area.corridoor to towards room had wall paper peeling off to reveal mould and damp.on walls.
The room was decorated ok but stunk of damp and was quite unpleasant.
The hotel looked very tired an in need of repair and decoration.
Even ceiling in reception looked like it may collapse as we checked out!

The staff was exceptionally friendly and welcoming! The food was exceptionally delicious, both for dinner and breakfast. The venue exuded an old English charm, adding to the overall experience.

Das Personal war sensationell nett! Das Essen ist außergewöhnlich gut gewesen. Das gilt für den Abend und das Frühstück. Die Lokalität hat englischen alten Charme
There is a noticeable lack of investment in the hotel rooms.

staff was lovely and friendly, the bar and restaurant was really nice to sit in for a drink or a meal, food was ok, bed was very comfy.garden tidy.
we were told when we checked in that there would be a function that night but should not cause us a problem, the problem was our room was nearly above the room, music was loud{expected } this would not have been ok if the 2nd glazing window closed and was not stuck solid so we could not close it, did not expect the music to go on till way past midnight, and really can't understand why on earth management would put anyone near it when they knew this.
when I went to close the curtains a was amazed at the state of the lining, omg it looked like someone had taken a pair of scissors to it and hacked it to bits, I was so shocked at the state that I could not stop laughing at it , MANAGMENT GET A GRIP ON THESE THINGS!!!, the bed was compfy, the decor of the room dire, why have rooms been allowed to be get like this and still be let out for the public to use?, this is such a shame as it seems like as long as the down stairs is ok the rooms and bathrooms don't matter, it do matter. my husband did complain in the morning about this ,but basically fobbed off .

Hotel was ideally located for our evening venue. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Bathroom shower was powerful and hot. Nice view from our window, plentiful car parking with good sized spaces.
Room TV was not working properly, the display seemed to be failing with serious 'ghosting' and also had limited channel options. WiFi did not connect to the internet.

Bar area was pleasant
The food was extremely poor. Breakfast was always cold and unapealing. . After day 2, i did not bother with breakfast. Even coffee in the coffee pot was look warm at best. The comunal areas leading to the bedrooms were dirty and required updating. The carpet in my bedroom was worn as were carpets in the corridors. Overall, the entire hotel needs some serious updating. Would never go back.

lovely period property with fabulous staff
our room had an adjoining door to the room next door and we could literally hear every word they were saying
the guy sniffed and we could hear it so we had to whisper so as not to be heard
the guy coughed during the night and it made me jump as it sounded like he was in the same room

the water was hot and the shower was powerful. the beds were comfortable. The rooms were as clean as they could be given the condition of the carpets, grout and bathroom flooring.
The general unkemptness of the hotel. the bedroom carpets should have been replaced at least 2 years ago, The bathroom lino went up the side of the wall and was gaping away from it, The grout and silicone was black, The secondary double glazing was filthy between, both in the rooms and the corridors. The corridor walls were flaking/poorly painted. the ceiling was falling down in the snooker room.
My evening meal had to be returned/replaced because it didn’t have what it should have had on it. we were overcharged for breakfast. The staff did not seem happy to be there/serve us, none of them were smiley or cheerful.

Really needs updating. Toilet made a really loud noise when flushing. Wallpaper pealing off the walls and didn’t smell very nice. Very basic accommodation.

the outside of the property looked lovely
the smell, the cobwebs, the mould in the bathroom, the wallpaper coming off and the toilet looked like it had been hit with a hammer a few times

room needed attention, tatty and smelt of damp

Decent quality rooms and the bar/restaurant provides good meals. Excellent value.

Good selection for breakfast at reasonable additional cost. Evening meal served very quickly despite entertainment function with meal and large party being served concurrently.
Felt that the service areas - corridors tio rooms could benefit from a makeover.

It was so, so nice and much better than I expected. The room was cosy, comfortable and quiet with a superb view of the garden. The bed was a little soft but nonetheless I slept really well. I would definitely stay there again and would definitely recommend it.
Can’t think of anything

Lovely pub and the staff and food were excellent. The bed was comfortable and peaceful rooms.
The strong smell of Nutradol over-powered everything and was a little too much
