The Thimble Islands is a magical place. On Cut-in-Two East, you have the whole island to yourself and you can really get away. There is a wonderful gazebo for sunsets. There's a great little beach for swimming. The water is fantastic. Enjoy!

From the minute we arrived, we were amazed at the amenities! Take a short ferry ride ($6 each way) and kick back on a private island. With no need for cars or bikes, the kayaks and paddle boards provided exercise and fun (there were plenty available for everyone). The kitchen and bathrooms were updated and virtually spotless. The beds were comfortable. We slept with the windows open and a few fans on during the hottest week of the summer. Caught a ton of fish right off the dock and rocks. Ate some porgies and a weakfish. Delicious. The kids had fun at low tide on the "beach" of sand. They made sand castles and a makeshift aquarium for hermit crabs, jellies and minnows. Drinking a cup of coffee in the morning, watching the ospreys dive for fish was better than taking blood pressure meds. The sunrises and sunsets were epic. Two storms blew through, which were fascinating to watch and experience. Saw a double rainbow and the Starlink satellites right over the island. Partied with some of the locals when they tied up their boats in the marina in front of the house. Easy travel to New Haven for a slice of pizza. Also made a trip to Essex to our favorite tavern in the Griswold Inn. So much history in the house and the Thimbles. The info packet and souvenirs were a great touch. Would definitely come back!

From the moment the Ferry picked us up to viewing the house and property ~ we were in paradise! The house & guest house are spotless and are stocked with absolutely everything you need plus more! The view is breathtaking from any direction on the wrap around porch! The island is amazing with beautiful flowers popping up daily between the enormous rocks. The teenagers swam, and used the kayaks daily. The Owner is thoughtful and responsive. It was the best family vacation we ever had! An plan on returning!

Not only was the property spectacular the host Gerard was tremendous. The property was even better than expected. Our guests enjoyed the unique opportunity to be on an island, enjoying the views and the history of Cut in Two Island.
The island is just far enough from shore to be secluded and easy to get our guests on and off as the Thimble Islands has a boat taxi that is readily available. I also have a small boat to get items back a forth. As far as value, it can't be beat, especially for those that can drive to the Island area. No planes, no car rental expense. Simple easy and the opportunity for us to have various guests on different days made it great for so many to be part of it. We will be back that is for sure!

Absolutely Fantastic Property
I cannot recommend this property more. Absolutely beautiful, well maintained, views from every room, fabulous wrap around porch with comfy seating, the full bath outhouse is totally charming (there's a bathroom inside too) Gerard always responded immediately, one of the most well equipped property I've ever stayed at, no wifi but hot spots worked great, ferry/taxi was super easy to use, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!!!

Beautiful property with an incredible view. The property manager was very friendly and quick to respond with questions and concerns. Only issues we encountered was the lack of air conditioning, but luckily it cooled down enough in the evenings. As well, the ferry service was running on reduced hours which is the only way on and off the island, but they were very accommodating when given an advanced notice.

Great staycation!
All of our travel plans were cancelled, so we were quite desperate to get us all out of the house. Staying on this private island checked all the boxes. It felt like an adventure having to ferry back and forth to the main land. The older teens took the guest studio and loved their own space. Kayaks and paddle boards were a hit, and my son loved successfully fishing for strippers! It really did make us feel like we were somewhere far from home even though we were only an hour away. I loved this house and hope to revisit in the future. The host, Gerard, was excellent and went above and beyond delivering/ returning special friends when the ferry wasn’t running. This really made our day! I highly recommend staying here, it’s sweet and magical and the perfect size
for friends and family.

Once in a lifetime trip!
If you are looking for a memorable vacation, you have to stay here! Cut in Two East is the most magical dream of a vacation. Because of the pandemic, we were forced to cancel our original wedding plans and I am SO glad we did. Saying our vows at this private, beautiful home was more than I ever could have imagined. There are a multitude of stunning areas to explore on the island. I have never seen sunsets so gorgeous. The tranquil atmosphere can’t be beat. Gerard is a wonderful host - accommodating, close by, and easy to communicate with. We will be back every year.

Gerard is a terrific host. The cottage is super easy to get to and the views are just spectacular! We enjoyed the kayaks and the outdoor grill space. One thing to note is that the main house dates back to the 1800s and is truly a cottage - no air conditioning and the bedrooms are upstairs, effectively in the attic.

Excellent stay
Beautiful property, very clean. The island includes all the amenities for a memorable stay: top notch equipment for water activities, plenty of sheets and towels, a deck area for outdoor grilling. Gerard is local, attentive, and responds quickly. We would rent again.

Great Stay on Island Sanctuary
Cut In Two East was a spectacular place for a quiet vacation. The 360-degree wrap-around porch ensures that there's always a seat with a breeze and water view. Missing from the photos is an area in which we spent a lot of time: a low deck just off the kitchen with a large table, gas grill, and patio umbrella with solar powered lights for the evening, good for eating and playing games. Host was very responsive without being intrusive, and lives on another island about five minutes away. Highly recommend.

Wonderful vacation
My family and friends had a wonderful vacation on Cut in Two East! It was the perfect beach cottage perched on the rocks in the thimble islands. The views and sunsets were absolutely breath taking! The charm of the cottage took you back in time and the quiet living on an island let us forget about “the new normal” for a wonderful week. We can’t wait to go back next year!!!!
