I booked " room and use of bathroom ", and found that the bathroom was mine alone. There was an area close by with kettle, toaster, fridge and microwave for my sole use, and tea and instant coffee were provided. A container of oats meant I could make breakfast.
Across the street is a bus stop for a frequent service to the airport.
The House doesn't have fancy towels and linen, but does have clean ones, and that's what is important.

Appalling - Locked out
Our check in time was 6pm. We got dropped off at The House at 6pm by Uber. No one was home. There was a note on door that read - ‘We are out until 9pm.’ We were locked out and hosts were uncontactable.
We were tired travellers, had already had dinner and planned for early nite. We didn’t wish to wait outside in the rain for 3 hours so had to Uber to a cafe with all our bags to wait.
We ubered back at 9pm and hosts didn’t arrive til 9.20pm.
Sue then spoke to us so abruptly and in such a rude and scolding manner, saying “they decided to go out, so left a note on the door and expected we’d just go out til they got home”.
They couldn’t have cared less. We stood there shocked, then she walked away and snapped “Well are you coming in or not”
Never have we encountered such rudeness and disrespect. It was all very upsetting. We felt like such an inconvenience. We had no choice but to stay, it was so late.
She later came down and tossed a $20 note in our room for ‘keeping us waiting’. An apology would have been more meaningful. This didn’t even cover extra Uber expenses.
Of our many years air bnb’ing we’ve never had a negative experience. We are now apprehensive to book future air bnbs.

He had a wondeful time:
- very friendly hosts
- big room with comfortable bed
- we could use host‘s bigger and fully equipped kitchen (another kitchen is to store food and prepare breakfast/snacks)
- nice and clean bathroom

This accommodation was excellent for me. Very nice secluded place where I could park my car well off road. The room I stayed in was very private, spacious and quiet (good as I was there for work purposes with an early start) and use of the lower part of the house was appreciated. It is less than a kilometre from the supermarket and centre of Halswell in a very quiet neighbourhood. The hosts, Sue and John, were great. There is a public bus stop very near the house (but I didn't investigate where the bus runs between.)

The host are really kind and the room and bathroom are perfect !
The kitchen doesn't have hotplate and the oven was too small and old.
4.0
Warm room with comfortable big bed and own bathroom just across the hallway. The owners live upstairs, not on the same level, so it felt very private. Teabags, sugar, milk provided as I had run out of my own
It didn't bother us as we had eaten out before arriving, the kitchen doesn't have much benchspace, and only a microwave so you couldn't really cook there.
