marvellous view from room / patio. varied dinner menu. quiet location
We were surprised that there was no muesli / yogurt option for breakfast - or did we just miss it?

Beautiful setting beautiful peaceful view…
We couldn’t hear the road at all and apart from the very bright fire alarms in the rooms which we covered with a blanket it was delightful

Absolutely stunning location the patio area outside our room was just perfect for sitting and looking across the South Downs. There were many different areas to sit both inside or out to have a drink/meal all with the same beautiful view that we never got fed up looking at.
Can’t think of anything.

Nice clean rooms. Lovely pub and food. Had breakfast, lunch and dinner there over two days and each meal was excellent.
Food portion sizes could be slightly more generous.

Facilities were great, Barry and his staff were superb.

We stayed for two nights with dinner, bed and breakfast. It was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and the view from the room of the South Downs was wonderful. We wouldn't hesitate to go back there.
No criticism at all really.

Location
Breakfast . Porridge half cooked and cold .
Bacon pretty nasty ..
all needs addressing
Only offer full day milk or almond..
cappuccino flat more like strong latte!
TV on side wall in room parallel to length of bed so awkward if you want to watch … not logical positioning!!!

The beer.
There was a constant noise of a pump next door to our room which kept us awake for most of the night. It was the boiler next door to our room 1.
The staff said they thought it had been fixed. This was the main boiler that powers and hears the whole place we think.
The chef turned up late for breakfast so we had for an hour. The fill English seemed to have been re heated and there were large shards of eggshell in my girl friend’s eggs florentine.
We had to ask for our dinner to be reheated the night before.

A familiar pub for us, setting, ambience and food.
We were a large table of 10 for supper and no other tables and the food took a long time going and was poor.
Plus the room we had must have been right over the kitchen with music thumping through the floor from below

Nothing to say

Rooms conveniently placed next to the pub , with ample car parking attached. Evening food pretty good.
This particular room was tiny and cold at first but warmed up with the help of the radiator provided. Shower in the morning was lukewarm warm at best. Breakfast took a long time to arrive and was cold when it did. Didn’t have time to send it back.

The decor was modern
I had specifically booked a deluxe king room but on arrival was showed to a standard double. The manager who showed me to the room insisted it was a deluxe king and argued with me when it was clearly only a double. I insisted he checked and when he did realised his mistake and showed us to the correct room booked with my name on it. I am appalled by his attitude. He did not ask for my name in the first instance and assumed from looking at me that I would not qualify for a deluxe room. I felt he was being rascist. Breakfast was also below standard, with slow service and brusque attitude compared to what the other diners were getting. I was not offered any jam with my toast and had to ask for it and was given one miserable jar. The other table got a whole bowlful with various selection. Needless to say I shall not be recommending this hotel or stay there again.

Dog friendly accommodation in a Good location. Breakfast was good and staff were friendly.
In Serious need of maintenance and a paint touch up. It’s such a shame that the many scuffs and water marks on every wall were making the room feel unclean, which I appreciate isn’t the cleaners fault and must be equally frustrating for them. The carpets need replacing, I appreciate the room was dog friendly but why have carpet in a dog friendly room? It is so tired and worn. The bottom edge of the shower was black and broken, I’m guessing the smell in the bathroom was because of this.

Pub next door, patio and space
Grubby carpet

We loved the views and location of the property, also we locked the character.
These are only little things, but the carpet in the room could be cleaner, the chain didn’t always flush, and it could be a little lighter in the room. And maybe a stool for the bedroom mirror.

Our room, overlooking the fields, was lovely. Nicely decorated, clean and a good size. It’s the 2nd time I’ve stayed and this room was much better than the first. The food at the pub is also very good.

Location and views of the South Downs fantastic. Having breakfast in the restaurant looking at fabulous view and with deer grazing in the adjoining field was memorable. Needed to breakfast early on Sunday as going to a christening. Staff very helpful and accommodating.
Outside stairs up to room felt slippery when wet. Had room on road side. The road was busy and no views. Bed too high for us. Room could have done with better lighting. Difficult to read in comfort.

Was welcomed warmly for a one night stopover.
Our room was above the pub but well insulated from traffic and restaurant noise. Very cosy.
Bed was super comfortable. Bathroom was roomy and shower pressure great.
Added bonus of checking in, then sitting in the beer garden watching the sunset and hot air balloon in the distance across the fields. Very serene setting.
Tasty and lovingly cooked dinner and breakfast served in the restaurant.
Would highly recommend.
Not walking distance to the local town but a short drive.

Lovely decorated rooms with beautiful location. Shower gel and hand soap was lovely, better than most hotel offerings. Pillows and bed were high quality as was the furniture in the rooms.
Unfortunately the breakfast was a let down, service was very slow. Food came out before our drinks were served. No oat milk or brown sauce, quite poor. Was a shame because all other aspects were great.

Lovely room and an amazing view.
The hot water tap in the bathroom sink didn't work. We did inform the staff, and hopefully it has now been repaired. It was an inconvenience but didn't spoil our stay.

The location was beautiful, staff friendly and helpful, meals excellent.
We didn't find it easy to operate the shower initially and the bedroom carpet had some stains.

Having a bath in the room was a lovely touch and the toiletries were to die for. Very good quality breakfast too. The members of staff also arranged check in 3 hours early for us at no extra charge. We will definitely be returning.

Disappointing- we like muesli, fruit and yogurt
We loved our stay EXCEPT the green light in the bedroom, which made it seem like daylight all night.
