Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Misrepresentation of Accommodation for Graduation Stay - Reservation Number: 4082638274
Dear Booking.com Customer Service and Property Management,
I am writing to express my formal complaint regarding my recent stay at The Exchange Sacramento, Curio Collection by Hilton, booked through Booking.com under reservation number 4082638274. This reservation was intended for my graduation celebration, and unfortunately, the experience did not meet the standards promised during the booking process.
Upon making the reservation, I specifically requested a room with a nice view, to which I received assurance that my request would be accommodated. However, upon arrival, I was disappointed to find that the room allocated to me, located on the first floor, offered no view whatsoever. The window was obstructed, providing no opportunity to appreciate the surroundings. Furthermore, the proximity of the room to the street resulted in constant noise pollution, disrupting any chance of tranquility or privacy.
This significant discrepancy between the promised amenities and the actual conditions of the accommodation is deeply disappointing and constitutes a breach of trust on the part of both Booking.com and the property. As a customer, I relied on the representations made during the booking process to make an informed decision, only to be met with a situation that fell far short of the advertised standard.
Given the importance of this stay for my graduation celebration, the failure to deliver on promised amenities has left me feeling deeply dissatisfied. Therefore, I am requesting the following actions to address this matter:
A refund or partial refund for the portion of my stay that did not meet the promised standard.
Clarification and rectification of the discrepancies in the booking process to prevent similar issues for future guests.

confortable pillows and bed with good layout of furniture in room
noise from street traffic; not sure if Mgmt can invest in quadruple-paned windows to reduce traffic noise

Location is good
They placed me in a room on the first floor that was like a dungeon with only 2 small windows close to the ceiling. There is no sound proofing and the hotel decides to empty dumpsters at 5am in the morning, so I am awoken to trucks beeping and metal slamming...if you are ever given room 108 request a change immediately. This room should be used for storage .
When I mentioned this to staff, they "noted" it on my account and no effort was made to make things right. If you are aware there is loud noise that occurs right outside of a room you rent at least soundproof the room

L'emplacement à 2 pas du old Sacramento
Chambre tres propre, tres bonne literie
Notre chambre etait tres bruyante, fenetres non isolées donnant sur la rue et bruit de l'autoroute
La salle de bain etait très jolie mais pas de pression dans la douche

The building was amazing, truly magical. Staff were the best I have ever had the pleasure. My daughter left her IPAD we called right away as we were at the airport and they amazingly found it and mailed it back to us including making sure it was securely safe to keep it from getting broken.
Nothing all was amazing!!!

Convenience of having everything walking distance when attending a concert at the Golden One Center.
Thin windows, very loud having room next to the freeway.

I love the decor of the hotel as a whole. From the lobby to the elevators to the hallways to the rooms, everything feels carefully thought of and attended to. Luxurious and fresh. The front desk staff was very accommodating and warm.
I felt a bit worried about parking my car with the valet, they stated that the car would be in a public lot and not a secure garage. But when my car arrived, all was good.

Cool style of hotel
Beware of ground floor rooms that only have windows way up high, as in 10 feet high!

Second time staying at The Exchange and once again outstanding!

The restaurant seemed nice. I liked the proximity to Old Town. I liked being able to take the marble stairs up to my room. The bathroom was large, which I enjoyed.
I did not eat the breakfast since it was an extra cost. I could hear music playing into the night, which I think was coming from the restaurant downstairs. That was unfortunate. A community microwave was on the 3rd floor; that was inconvenient. The elevators were small. The TV services were not included - they required my own password. I wish the hotel provided a streaming service login.

cost of parking was high

Nice old building with a lot of character.
Comfortable bed.
Friendly staff, especially the valets.
Elevators were fast.
Great location very close to Old Sacramento.
The property is showing its age (chunks out of the shower marble, grungy looking shower, paint chips etc).
Our room was very damp. I opened a bag of chips and literally an hour later they were no longer crunchy. Rinsed out one of my son’s sleep sacks on the first night and hung it up and by the 4th night it still wasn’t dry.
We had requested a crib in our room, which wasn’t there when we arrived and we had to set it up ourselves and no bedding was provided.
We both understood that housekeeping was every other day unless we requested it daily but then it turned out it was only upon request. Not sure if we both misunderstood or if we were told the wrong thing upon check in. You have to request it first thing in the morning so we had to wait until the 3rd day, which is a long time when traveling with a toddler!
There were only 2 sets of towels in the room for 3 of us (though staff were accommodating when I requested more).
No self serve parking. Only $40 per night valet parking.
No breakfast included.
Overall, for the price, we expected more.

The hotel is so cute and cozy and extremely convenient to walk to the concert that we were attending only step away!
I have nothing that I disliked.

Fun decor in the lobby, great restaurant, excellent location (close to Golden 1 Center)
Front desk staff weren’t particularly warm or welcoming, which was a bummer. I was also told I could not have a printed out receipt of my stay, which I have never heard of before. Interestingly, they were able to print out a copy of my receipt?!

The location was great for our purposes. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The aesthetic was nice. The restaurant attached (The Willow) had really good food. It was passable for our one-night stay.
Check in took way longer than it should have. They were confused about my booking and it took 15 minutes or so just to get into our rooms. I also requested to have two rooms close together, and they were unable to accommodate my request (we were 4 floors apart). The parking wasn't very clear, so it took a while to park our cars. One of the outlets in our room didn't work and made it inconvenient to charge our phones. Also, the elevators are really small - just a heads up to people who are traveling with a group. A lot of mishaps that were not worth the price in my opinion.
