The house met all our needs. Beautiful respite on the decks.
6.0
Let me start by saying, we love the Frisco area. The house offers an exceptional view of the sound, fairly easy access to the beach, and enough room for our family to settle in and be comfortable for the week.
If the following had not happened, we would have had a nearly perfect week relaxing on our vacation.
We were called prior to our arrival and asked if it would be okay for someone to come clean the carpets the next day. We found this request strange and we were not excited about the disruption to our first full day on vacation. When we arrived at the house, it started to make sense why they felt additional cleaning was necessary. While we were unloading someone arrived to vacuum the carpets. This was incredibly awkward because we had not been told that someone would be coming to vacuum today, only that someone would be coming to clean the carpets the next day. We weren't sure if it was okay or even safe to let the person into the house. Also, vacuuming was the least of the problems that we found. There were certainly spots on the carpet that needed to be cleaned, but that was less important to us than the following: Many of the surfaces in the house were sticky. They either had not been cleaned or had been cleaned with residue left behind. Several of the bathrooms had questionable matter either on the toilet or the wall. We closed one of the bathrooms off completely for our entire stay due to the smell. We attempted to use a blanket from one of the closets that had some sort of brown dried matter on it. We did make a new friend, a racoon that visited the porch, as he visited the porch because there were numerous places where food and beverage had obviously been spilled and left as a treat for the wildlife. We also sprayed off the driveway as there was questionable food matter there as well. The outdoor living space also had a multitude of gold glitter on the porch surfaces, but also in the hot tub.
Vacasa did offer to send the cleaning crew back out, but by that point we had wiped off/cleaned surfaces ourselves in order to enjoy our first day and feel safe letting our kids make themselves at home. We declined the offer for a visit from the cleaning crew, preferring to avoid additional disruption to our vacation, and accepted their refund of the cleaning fees. Aside from all of that, we did have some trouble with the dishwasher. We definitely had to clean the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher to clean the dishes (yes you read that correctly), but aside from that we enjoyed our stay for the remainder of the week.
Bottom line is, had the house been clean when we arrived, this would be a five star review.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Banana Wind house. A plus was that linens were provided. We enjoyed the dock as well. There was plenty of room for the seven of us. We would highly recommend this house for anyone needing individual rooms for their guest. thanks Vacasa

Fun Vacation
We had a great time. Would definitely stay here again.

Loved the location (amazing sunsets, sound view, short walk to beach), the new dock (great addition), 7 bedrooms (hard to find during covid), price was great for house this size, lift to bring up the heavy stuff, decks and hot tub overlooking the sound, Adirondack chairs (LOVED these!).
Issues: carpet is very dated throughout (triggered allergies in my daughter), two bedspreads had stains that came out when washed- we washed all bedspreads as a result, relatively small living room and kitchen for a seven bedroom house, dated appliances. Frisco is a great location near good beach ramps, some shops and restaurants but not too much and between Hatteras lighthouse and the ferry to Ocracoke. A great week with family!

Many things to love! A few things that could be improved.

Family Vacay
Banana Wind was the perfect size for our family vacation. The evening sunsets on the top deck were amazing and the location was perfect.

Perfect location
Our family had a great time in the Outer Banks and the location of this rental is perfect. Beautiful sound view with an awesome pier and dock that is amazing. And it's a quick walk across the street to the beach which was beautiful. This rental could be exceptional with some TLC and updates (get rid of the gross carpet). Dishwasher only gets things clean on Pots & Pans cycle, and not always on that. Would've given it 4-5 stars if it weren't for the lack of cleanliness. We entered to the pungent smell of vomit from the prior guests in the stairwell that was never remediated though we called on Monday and used up 2 bottles of Febreeze and had a Glade plug in going. Mold on the bathroom shower curtain liner. (They did bring a new one over on Thursday after a call in on Monday.)
Overall, we did have a great stay because of the location. We just had to suck it up and deal with the lack of cleanliness.

Lots of space for a great price
There were 7 adults and 3 kids on our group. The set up of the house was perfect and gave everyone their own space. The living room and game room are larger than they appear in the pictures. Make sure that you download the hospitality app after you sign the rental agreement. There is a lot of useful information about check in and beach equipment rentals.

Amazing location and view
I usually shy away from bay front homes because it takes so long to walk to the beach but this house’s location is everything. It’s a 2 min walk across the street to the beach. There are 2 entry points and this house sits closer than most Oceanside houses in other areas of OBX. The bay front provides the most gorgeous view. We thoroughly enjoyed having coffee every morning on the highest deck sitting on the new trex beach chairs and watched every sunset. The jacuzzi also shares this incredible view and is in the perfect spot. The house also has a brand new private bay boardwalk/dock which we fished and crabbed off of several times. The interior of the house could use some updating. The appliances and furnishings are older but functioning. Obviously the price affords the current condition. Once the owner does a full blown update this house should rent for much much more. There are more than enough bedrooms to accommodate 3 families staying together (we only had 2). We brought our own chromecast to plug into the main living room TV so the kids could watch their shows but unfortunately it was locked to the wall. There is cable throughout, but I hope the owner changes the TV access to allow for apps such as Netflix/Hulu etc on all the TVs. It’s a simple request but we had to pile all the kids/adults into a bedroom to watch a movie (which was tight and uncomfortable). The COVID check in process was good. There was a bin of plastic wrapped bedsheets and towels so we had to make all the bedrooms but at least we knew we were the ones touching the sheets. We also had to strip all the beds and put them back in the containers for check out. Overall we would give this house 5 stars for Bay front view, jacuzzi situation, new chairs on top deck and new boardwalk/dock, and proximity to beach. 3 stars for furnishings and appliances. We made some great memories at Banana Wind.

Summer 2019
My family had an epic trip. The location was amazing. We brought a 30ft raft to lounge on the sound along with kayaks. The top deck was so big the entire family gathered nightly to see the most amazing sunsets. The home has more than enough things needed to cook and prepare meals. Please visit Portsmouth island tours. That was the most fun we’ve had in a life time enjoying history and collecting huge shells. It’s an ATV tour. We celebrated an engagement, 3 graduates and a 21st birthday. We had over 21 family members fit perfect in the home. The photos and memories we took home with us are wonderful to talk about. I will be booking June of 2020 for another family reunion and to celebrate our last child’s graduation.
