We arrived late Friday afternoon. After dinner at The Waterman’s Crab House, we had a wonderful evening at the fire pit, sipping adult beverages and telling ever tall tales of our Chesapeake Bay sailing experiences. The next day, we breakfasted at Ford’s in Rock Hall, and enjoyed the “season opener” of the Oxford Bellview Ferry. We went on to the Spring festivals at Oxford, St. Michael’s and later in Chestertown after lunch on Tilghman Island. We finished the day once again at the Waterman’s and then, of course, the fire pit. Sunday, on our way home we stopped for lunch at Chick and Ruth’s in Annapolis. Years earlier we had enjoyed all of these places from the water side on numerous sailboats we had owned and bare-boated over the years. Fun weekend with way more room, and only a little less adventure, than a sailboat.

This was our second stay at this location and, as with our first stay, everything was perfect.

Mermaid fit our needs perfectly. We enjoyed cooking several family dinners in the well equipped kitchen and barbecue out in the back yard. There was room to stretch out between kids and adults and we put the fire pit to good use. The extra chairs and PFDs in the garage along with the two available bikes were a nice surprise.
Minor things that should not deter anyone from staying: no grill brush, two solar lights that were broken, and no tabletop on the outside patio table. We repaired the solar lights as best we could and bought a grill brush which we left.
All in all, we would definitely recommend Mermaid to anyone and would come back again ourselves. This was also a very quiet neighborhood which we also enjoyed when it was kids bedtime.

The host wa La very nice, answered all my questions ahead of the stay. The house was fine - furnished with a hodgepodge of items- none of which were very comfortable l. Couch was small, chairs too low for the table, barstools too high for the counter. There was no desk or good place for a workstation. The backyard was lovely!
sadly the house - especially bathrooms were filthy. I notified the host of the hair that was everywhere- and I mean black human hair all over the floors and tub. Floors were also dirty, with dirt around the rugs. Some light switches had noticeable amounts of dirt on the switches. A cleaning should have been offered but wasn’t. House had ants, which is typical of this time of year but no real solution was offered (Ie sending pest control out to spray). The host did answer questions when the WiFi went down- absolutely not her fault as it was down for the entire town for many, many hours.
The house could really use a deep clean and needs to be aired out to remove a musty/ old smell- especially in the front room.
Town is tiny and charming.
Place suited my purpose as a layover with dogs during a move from one State to another.

We were very disappointed with our recent stay
While the house was relatively clean, the rooms were sparsely lite and circulation very poor. There were no paper towels. We did not use the kitchen for cooking and there was no ice
There are many more desirable locations and we will not return l

The house was perfect for our annual girls weekend. The kitchen was fully stocked with with everything we needed for cooking at home. Beds were comfy and there was plenty of space. Bikes and beach chairs were a nice addition and the stocked firepit and outdoor chairs made for relaxing evenings. Location was within a nice walk to the shopping area and to the harborside restaurants. Thank you we hope to return next year!

Our stay was exactly what everyone wanted and needed. Small town/big hearts willing to help and make everyone feel like part of the community.
It’s definitely better if you have a boat/water toys, which we did. It’s a boating community for sure!
