The view is great, you have a beautiful view on the sea.
The Place is lovely, the furniture of the accomodation is very tasteful and lovingly picked, there are a lot of beautiful flowers, and all Family members are really friendly and engaged in answering our questions and giving us hints.
The Place is quiet and very clean. We really enjoyed our stay and will hopefully be back soon….

The house was great, The view extraordinar, from inside and from outside.
The Parking was triky, for a non-madeiran.

Fantastic location but you must like walking up steep hills! Gorgeous garden and nice people. We did not drive so taxis vital unless you are super fit
Very old /well used towels and bedding . Did not feel fresh. No heating and it was very cold at night . I had to wear my coat indoors.
Strange as no toilet roll except one used one available and also a false economy of not providing basics such as cooking oil . only s+ p available. Everything else had to be bought. I think if you replace all bedding and towels and provided basic cooking supplies you could charge a bit more and your customers would be MUCH happier! A heater in winter also a good idea!

It was a wonderful vacation that would not have been perfect without the great accommodation. We felt very comfortable and welcome.
A supermarket is nearby and is also open on Sundays, wifi worked great, kitchen is very well equipped. Everything was super clean.
Thanks again for everything, also for the surprise on our wedding day. We will never forget it.
Everything was perfect. You should be good on foot and be able to park well :-)

Very nice and quiet place to stay with warm welcome from Pedro and his family.
Beds are confortable.
And the swimming pool is pleasant after a trekking day.
Not really an issue, but would be better to have a way to obstruct the view between the living room and the bathroom :-)

Fantastic place, atmosphere, pool, design, personal, ...
the blankets on the bed were inadequate and so were the pillows. Only one blanket on a double bed.
We had to buy the toilet paper ourselves.

The place itself was unreal, with a modern house and great facilities overlooking a beautiful view! Definitely recommend to anyone, and will be coming back!

The location was amazing: view at the ocean with sunset, a hammack and a beautiful garden. Great family that helps you with everything!
We stayed 4 nights but there wasn't a stock of toiletpaper and garbagebags. That was the only thing missing.

A real paradise with an incredible view and garden. Great for unwinding and also rather private feel. It is a rather quiet area, but some bars and a supermarket not too far away, which I really loved :)
Tip: Park on the lower street if you are not a very skilled car driver😅
I loved it all and I this is probably one of the coziest and most scenic places I have ever stayed at!
If I think how this could have been even better - as a solo short time traveller some pepper, salt, sugar in the kitchen would have been helpful. But that is more of a personal preference :)

The guesthouse is located in a quiet small part of Arco de Calheta. The view from the terrace of our cottage was very pleasing. The immediate neighbors who owned the house below were very friendly.
This guest house has two cottages that are basically inaccessible for people with even minor handicaps. While it is correct that from the parking lot (which during our stay was full half of the time) it is only about 50 m to the main entrance, although a quite steep walk, the owners do not disclose that the two upper cottages (we stayed at the uppermost) can be reached only over a near vertical ascent of another 100+ m. The slope is around 70 %. This cannot be negotiated by people with handicaps.
During the night prior to our departure there was torrential rain for many hours. It stopped just prior to our leaving the cottage. We had to climb down this path, extremely slippery from the rain, with our luggage and we had no help. At 6 in the morning we called the host to request some assistance, but nobody answered, and nobody ever called us back. That is, when we really needed help, there was nobody. Imagine what it means to walk to your car in torrential rain with luggage. By the time you have everything stowed you are drenched. Then you have 12 hours or more of travel in the winter time ahead of you. This could result in a situation quite dangerous to your health. We were extremely lucky that the rain stopped literally minutes before we had to leave.
We are sure there are guests who do not mind. We do, and we suggest it would be honest to fully disclose the potential hazards of this location.
Minor problems included frequent odor coming from the shower drain (clearly a construction problem - note that the shower/bathroom was separated only by a curtain) and a change of towels with a smell, which seemed to not have been washed hot enough.

Everything. The wonderful gardens, patios, views. The fantastic renovation of the buildings in traditionele style. The warm hostess, Sofia and her family. A quite Paradise on earth. The kitchen (basic but fine!). We recommend Calhau Grande to everyone. We will be back for the 3rd time!
Matresses are a bit too hard for us. But that is really the only thing that we van imagine to change.
