The house was very cute and the access to the beach was awesome. The neighborhood was extremely quiet. Having a fenced in yard for our dog was truly appreciated.

A beautiful, comfortable and well-equipped cottage. On a peaceful beach but close enough to civilization when needed. We received very detailed instructions so we knew what to expect and what to bring along. We and our 11-month old pups (first vacation with them) loved it and plan to return! Difficult to find nicely furnished, on beach and fenced yard all in one property but this it. Exceeded our expectations!!

Our two little mermaids loved Mermaid cottage! Cute and cozy cottage - nice accommodations for our family of four. We enjoyed the quiet time on the beach & loved hanging out on the porch!

The Mermaid Cottage was just what we were looking for…. The beach was great for walking the dog and collecting rocks… the water was calm and warm, great for floating around!
If you are looking for a peaceful getaway, you can’t miss with this lovely property.

House is cute, overall well-maintained, with its own beach/backyard/frontyard. Has just about evderything you need while on vacation. Hosts were easy to communicate with. Be ready for double beds in the bedrooms and queenish size out on the porch area. AC worked great. Nicely decorated with the mermaid/sea/beach theme. TV channel selection is very limited, but hey you are on vacation at the beach. Why are you even watching TV! LOL. The beach is not in the host's control but was almost always desolate for hundreds of yards in either direction, which was fantastic. Lots of horeshoe crabs! If you don't like busy, want some peace and quiet, and want to be a short drive to Rehoboth but dont want the 24x7 bussle, this palceis for you. Loved the surrounding farming land and adjacent homes with little to no signs of life while we were there. We are definitely thinking of booking again next year. Thank you, Nora!

Loved this little cottage by the bay…very clean had everything we needed and the fenced in yards were great for our dogs! We found shells, seaglass on the beach and were able to drive to Rehobeth, Dewey and Lewes for day trips. Very quiet neighborhood.

The house is perfect for small families and right on the water as advertised. Both the front and back yard are fenced in with ample outdoor furniture and grill. The porch is lovely with wrap around screened in windows, we did not use the bed in this space but a nice mostly private option for those who may need it. Very mermaid themed for all mermaid lovers.

Thank you for our stay. We really loved the house, it was very quaint. Rhodie, our dog, also enjoyed it. He mentioned that the floor was a perfect comfort level. The yard was nice and the location is near some fun activities. We really enjoyed going to Lewes. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to visit the Delaware Beach.

Adorable mermaid-themed home on quiet, sandy beach. Fenced-in yard is perfect for dogs and small children. Beautiful sunrises. Warm, shallow water is great for beach play. Dog-friendly beach. Great place to unplug. Nicely appointed.

This property is remote (15-20 min from anything) but worth the almost private beach just steps Grimm the back door. Bring bug spray (at least in July) we had one day with a breeze (no bugs) and part of a day without a breeze and a little buggy but still so worth it. Super clean, great party for up to 6 people. There's a bed on the enclosed porch but there's no AC out there. We didn't need that bed but you could use it in cooler months. Don't hesitate, book it.

House was small but had everything we needed. The flys in the house and bugs outside all the time were terrible.
The porch is a waste of space. Too hot to hang out there.
Fenced in yard was a nice touch.

Cute cottage with direct beach access (this is on the DE river), very quiet and peaceful which is exactly what we were looking for! Not much going on if you have kids / teens who want activities, but if you are looking for quiet this is the place!

We stayed 3nts. I love this property! The porch was so relaxing, the pictures dont show how cute & comfortable this enclosed porch is. Was very clean & love the front & back gates in huge yard, our Dog Molly Loved it! This wonderful beachfront is on my return list for next year. The only negative i could say , is it's missing a washer & dryer if your stay is longer so plan accordingly. Thank you for renting this gem!

The house consists of 2 bedrooms, a living room, kitchen, and bathroom. There’s a long narrow porch but it’s not air conditioned. It’s kinda dark inside but lots of mermaids. Very quiet street, very close to the beach.

Mermaid cottage is a little slice of heaven. Slaughter Beach is a quiet town and you will have the beach almost entirely to yourself. The cottage is perfect for a week long getaway and has a lot of what you need already on the premises. Dogs loved the fenced in yard and were able to be out without worry. Kitchen has all pots, pans, and other items to be able to cook what you like. Owners replied quickly to a question I had. Be sure to bring water shoes; walking into the bay is a little rocky and muddy, but otherwise fine. Bring bug spray and ensure you spend time on the beach closer to high tide to avoid biting flies. Neighbors were very kind and knowledgeable about the area. Be sure to check out the DuPont Nature Center down the road. Overall a wonderful stay; we definitely will be back to enjoy another quiet getaway at the Mermaid.

Enjoyable week at the Mermaid Cottage
Enjoyed the peace and quiet of our morning and evening walks on the beach. Our dog loved the fenced in yard! Made day trips to the ocean beach in Cape Henlopen Park as well as the bay beach in Lewes. DIned out in either Lewes or Bethany most nights. Would definitely return to this house.

Peaceful Getaway
The house was set up perfectly for myself, husband, toddler and dog. We loved the fenced in yard for the dog to play and just a short walk right to the beach. The low tide and calm waves made it perfect for our toddler to play in the water. We appreciated how quite and relaxing the area was. Would definitely stay again!

A getaway from the hustle and bustle of the nearby popular ocean beaches.
Nice beach cottage located in a quiet neighborhood. It was clean, appropriately appointed and everything was in good working order. The fenced in yard was a perfect place, along with the beach, for the dogs to play and exercise.
Thanks!

Wonderful Beach House
My family and I really enjoyed staying at this property for our summer vacation this year! The house is small but worked fine for my husband, 2 young children and dog. It's nicely located close to the beach and we were able to enjoy long beach days with trips back and forth to the house. The beach is very quiet and private. We also really enjoyed getting the opportunity to educate our children on some of the wildlife around us (crabs, turtles, clams, etc.). Highly recommend for a quiet and peaceful vacation!

Amazing gem - would book again
The Mermaid Cottage had everything we wanted and more. The kitchen is well stocked with the essentials plus some. We loved that there was a toaster and blender available.
The yard was perfect for our dogs and they loved romping with the neighbors' dog.
Short drive to Milford for anything you could need all while having your perfect beach front escape without the hustle and bustle of the more touristy beaches.
We would certainly rent the cottage again! Thank you for sharing it with us.

Perfect!
Perfect with Bay views and being able to sit on the back porch and hear the waves. The fence for your dog is the best! More room then I thought!
