This was a great house for our group of eight adults (two families with college-age kids). The location is ideal--secluded but less than 10 minutes from the downtown area of Santa Fe, tons of hiking nearby and reasonable drive for day trips to Taos, Bandelier, and Los Alamos.
As an FYI, note the house has lots of fans but no air conditioning. At 7,000+ feet of elevation that would not normally be a problem but the week we were there afternoon highs were in the low 90's. Nights better but it did take some time for the house to cool down.
Overall though a great home base for our group. If you haven't been, go to NM. It truly is beautiful.

There were 7 ladies in our group, and there was plenty of room to spread out; in fact, several mentioned how much they enjoyed the fact that we could all go off and have some personal down time. Location was awesome; close to town but yet in the country. Would definitely stay again.

We came from east & west coasts & Colorado.
Four family units, each had their own awesome space. Special features include awell stocked kitchen, a pool table, a hot tub. Location was superb to get to many Santa Fe activities including Ten Thousand Waves Spa, Geogia OKeefe museum, Meowolf, Farmers Market Rail Trail playground, hiking with children & dogs.

9 female cousins enjoyed our reunion at this beautiful home and outdoor space in Santa Fe. There was plenty of room to spread out, share, enjoy. We did lots of sightseeing but had most of our meals in the home since it was so comfy, well appointed and made socializing very easy. All 9 of us agreed it was a perfect setting for getting together.

Wonderful outdoor spaces with hot tub and outdoor fireplace. Kitchen very well equipped. The house has many separate rooms which allows for lots of privacy. Good grill and stove. Host was extremely responsive and helpful when the sink developed a leak and he had it fixed within an hour

We loved this house. It is beautiful and clean and has a great yard for evening cooking and talking around the fire. Our kids enjoyed the hot tub which was in good working condition. The house is spacious and decorated with cultural art. The beds and bedrooms were comfortable. The bathrooms were all very nice. The kitchen is user friendly and well-stocked. We loved having the adjoining apartment. Great place!

We were somewhat concerned about our stay, because the property doesn't have air-conditioning and the temperature was in the low-90s during the days. However, with the fans turned on and the windows and doors opened, the entire house was pleasantly comfortable, and we all slept fine. The house is very spacious, and so more than accommodated 9 of us. We loved the large table on the shaded patio outside, where we ate all of our meals. The house had everything we needed; was clean; and everything worked (not the kitchen dishwasher, as we knew beforehand, but there is another one in the bar area, which we did not use: we simply washed dishes by hand.) The kitchen is very large; all the rooms are large. The house is only 5 minutes drive to the downtown area; it was very quiet. We had no complaints; it was an enjoyable stay!

Our group of 12 had a wonderful time at Casa Encantado. The house and grounds were a perfect setting for a large group of friends. The host was available to help with entry with a tricky lock and the caretaker was available to meet all our requests. I highly recommend this property for any large group.

While the entrance was nice with new plants in the pots things quickly went sideways. In the kitchen the meat cooker and trash compactor were labeled “Out of Order”. In the bar area the ice maker and beverage cooler were also out of order. The caretaker confirmed that none of them worked and could not be repaired. We had to buy ice daily as the small ice maker in the fridge was very slow and maybe produced enough for one person.
Upon sitting down at the head of the gathering table the seat immediately gave way revealing the wicker under the thin cushion (that had clearly been put there to hide the damage) was completely smashed through). Outside the column supporting the roof over the porch as buttressed by 2”x6”s as the column was rotted at the bottom. A glance around revealed a desperate need for paint on trim, frames and columns.
The garden area had dead plants and weeds throughout. Just over the little wall was a pile of plastic containers for the long dead plants. Beyond them and behind a couple of trees was what we assumed to be the old hot tub, unceremoniously dumped in the backyard. There was also a good deal of broken glass (apparently from lots of beer bottles but also windows) along the pathways. Pots and planters around the outside fireplace contained only dead plants. Black irrigation hoses were all over but none connected.
In sum, the inside was clean but lacking in the basics for two families with kids; the outside was … well, you get the idea.

We enjoyed the layout of the house which had room for our family of 12. The dining room and living area were a great place for us to gather around the fireplace to visit and play games. We were here for a ski holiday and enjoyed the closeness to the slopes and the town with the feeling of being out of town.

The house was great. The kitchen was well appointed nice decor and great out door space. The house was close enough to town to get everywhere and out far enough to feel a bit secluded. Couple item that would have made this a 5 star. Hot tub worked but only one set of jets and could have used a good cleaning and maintenance. A few of the outdoor light where broken and could have easy maintained to just improve the asthmatics Lastly the only photos appeared that there was one more bedroom that was in an open area. Overall great place and I would definitely recommend staying and consider staying again

An Extraordinary Property
As repeat occupants of Casa Encantado, we were thrilled to return there once again. The house and property are second to none: location, beauty, lavish decor and objects of art, cleanliness and amenities. Bort Jones was a most professional host and responded to all of our communications. We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to stay there once again.

Luxury and comfort in Santa Fe
What a joy it was to stay in this home! The first morning we were there I went outside to see the sunrise and was just overwhelmed by the views from all sides of the house. The home itself is beautifully decorated but is also warm and comfortable! And the kitchen is so well appointed with everything you need! We would definitely recommend it and hope to come back.

Cozy, well appointed
We spent 3 nights at Casa Encantado over New Year. The house is lovely, very cozy during a winter snowstorm, warm and comfortable. Ample room for guests with nice beds. Kitchen has everything you could need. It was a bit cold for the hot tub but the kids braved it for a few minutes! Easy drive into town too.

Great stay
Property was well kept and clean. We all had excellent time. Hot tub wasn’t functional due to heater part missing due to supply chain problems but this was unavoidable

Excellent Stay with Small Exceptions
We had an excellent stay at Vista Encantada. We stayed there for our wedding with some family and had a BBQ with some friends. The wedding was not at the property. The Property is beautiful, and functions extremely well. There was some damage around the property, but it did not affect our stay at all. The only Issue we had was that there were moths in the master suite that started eating my wife's wedding dress. No major damage was done, as we caught it early. Otherwise, the property was clean, beautiful, and the hosts were very kind and accommodating.

Bad customer experience.
The property inside was clean. The hot tub was left open when we got there and was unclean. We did not feel like using it, and we had specifically booked it for the hot tub use. We did ask the owner if AC was there and that was an overlook on our part. The stove, gas range had all tripped and when we asked to help with it, the owner did not respond. We ended up not being able to cook ,and had to change plans .When we sent a message around all the inconvenience, his voicemail was very inapproporate. Such a bad way to deal with a customer . There was also hardly toilet rolls or back up supply for 7 people .Overall ,a bad experience. He also threatened to not allow this review to be posted. There was also a camera inside the house. We pulled the plug out when we saw it. I have rented properties form VRBO and this has been the worst experience.

50th Anniversary
What an awesome house! We booked this for my parent’s anniversary and it was perfect. They were able to stay in the private apartment while the rest of the family stayed in the big house. The media room was a hit with the kids as they were able to watch first run movies on the big screen TV. We had breakfast on the back patio as a family and were able to observe deer and even had an encounter with a bear. Great place to vacation!
