Such a cute little place to stay! We were there for 1 night to attend a concert at the caverns and it was all we needed!

Neat place with a few rentals. The location was perfect for us to have a two day waterfall/hiking adventure. The only downfall was it being close to the highway so traffic noise and headlights gleamimg through the thin curtains was annoying. Our first night at the campfire three deer walked up. Overall a good stay at Hickory Creek Cottage.

Very clean and cozy! Just a little loud being on the main road and some blinds
To block car lights would be great!

I am in an industry that relies heavily on ratings, so I’m not going to be that person that leaves an ugly comment. I do want to state though that we didn’t overly enjoy this getaway. We live in Nashville & LOVE weekend jaunts to Monteagle. We don’t waste a ton of time driving & we know the area well. We enjoy staying in tiny houses, but this place was more of a room. The bathroom was VERY clean, but the kitchen wasn’t functional & the bedroom/den/eating area were all in one small room. Also, when you’re been out shopping and hiking all day, when you return there is no where to sit & unwind & watch TV except on the bed. Also, when we were dressed up to go to High Point, we had to sit on the bed in our nice clothes while we waited to go. This rental is also right on a main road. Like right on it. It seemed that every person in town had a car that they wanted to show off & loudly drove by at all hours. A person got pulled over at 2:00 AM & the police lights lit up the room like a disco. Lastly, the no alcohol sign on the back porch was a bit of a turnoff. I understand that it’s not my property & we abided by the rules, but I’m 55 & have about 2 glasses of wine a month. One of my favorite places to have a glass is when I’m on vacation. I’m so glad for the owner that others have enjoyed their stay here, but in the future we will stick to the tiny houses that we know. I do want state that the owner was VERY responsive when we had an issue.

We arrived to an unmade bed with dirty sheets, and dirty towels in the bathroom.
We requested a refund and left.

We came to the Monteagle area for a few days looking to relax and check out this area for a future visit. The cabin was easy to find and sits near the highway located in a nice compound of several cabins located far enough apart for good privacy. We really enjoyed the property as it had some trails on it and a nice outdoorsy feel. Unfortunately it rained the whole time we were there but not surprised due to the time of year. The cabin is small and has a nice screened in porch that would be nice in the summertime. The kitchen is very small but worked out well for us. We will be back again sometime and might rent one of the larger cabins that are on site.

The trailhead cabin was marvelous! For a tiny cabin, it had every essential thing. The cleanliness, screened in porch and location were exceptional! We’re definitely coming back and possibly bringing friends to stay in the adjacent cabins. So many things to do in the area and good restaurants in Monteagle and Sewanna.

My husband and I chose this area because of all the hiking trails. We ended up spending a lot of time at the little cabin because it was so cold during our stay. We did get in a few short hikes and chose to explore the area. The area really has a lot to offer but is tucked away like a slow paced old town. We didn’t even get to visit some of the places we wanted and definitely didn’t get to all the hiking the area offers! The cabin is located almost directly across from the Cumberland state park information center and a short drive from Sewanee University. The cabin is just perfect for a cozy stay. It is close to the main highway, which I saw someone complain about but honestly, we didn’t hear a thing at night, the area seems to all go to sleep. We didn’t notice the traffic much during the day.
We drove through the campus, had breakfast at Stirling Coffee House and explored the old graveyard, it was quite beautiful in the fall. We wanted to eat at the cafeteria and view the chapel there but didn’t make it back.
I really felt rested when we came back from this vacation!

We had a small issue upon arriving, but Janet responded immediately and resolved the problem very quickly. She is very responsive and kind. The cabin itself is adorable; we enjoyed the porches and the fire pit so much!

Lovely little cabin that had everything we needed! I took a ‘solo’ road-trip with my toddler and we spent the weekend in Monteagle. The cabin was clean, perfect amount of space for us, and had great little back porch! The bed was very comfortable and I appreciated the water bottles already stocked in the fridge. Hickory Creek Cabin is located right on the side of the road so you can see headlights pass by through the night. The only thing that concerned me was the lack of privacy, especially since I was alone with my son. In the future, I’d choose one of their tucked away cabins. Monteagle is a beautiful little town with plenty of hiking nearby and amazing local restaurants. It’s also only a 40 minute drive to Chattanooga. Would recommend staying here.

Perfect location for several trails at local parks nearby. Cool nights so you hardly need the airconditioning provided. Fire pit provided for each cabin. Watch fire flies from the screened in porch or catch them if you want. We took the 40/hour trip to civil war park/museum nearby well worth it! Peaceful and quiet trip. Lastly tv and cable if you watch it at all! Would definitely stay again:)

We really enjoyed biking on the Mountain Goat Trail. Woody’s Bicycles dropped off the bikes, helmets and bike locks in the morning and we rode for several hours. The bikes were picked up at our rental cabin the next day. Very easy and convenient.
Our exploration of the area included visiting Foster Falls, Sewanee Natural Bridge, University of the South Campus and a having a delightful lunch at Mountain Goat Market in Monteagle.
Our tiny cabin at Trailhead Cabins was conveniently located, comfortable and clean.

My mom and i stayed for one night. We appreciated the bottled water and snacks! Sat up late drinking a bottle of wine on the screened in back porch, talking the night away. Bed was very comfortable and i loved the white noise the air conditioner provided!!

The tiny cabin was clean, cozy and cute. The bed was extremely comfortable. Another comfortable chair in the cabin would have been welcomed, but there was only one. We enjoyed the porches except the traffic noise was constant. I failed to notice that the cabin is located right on a busy highway…which is what I wanted to avoid as we live on a busy highway!
Be sure to bring your own hairdryer as one is not provided.
Water, snacks and coffee pods were a nice surprise. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and give the cabin 5 five stars.

The pictures just don't do it justice! This is the PERFECT little retreat in Monteagle. Janet had so many little amenities in her cabin from snacks, bottled water, Kuerig pods to everything in the kitchen to prepare a meal. Love the keyless entry, made our check in seamless, even the wi-fi was super fast. You must sit out on the screened in porch on a rocker and enjoy your morning coffee- just delightful. Best sleep I've had, the bed was SO comfortable. I'll definitely be back!

This place was perfect for our short stay while traveling to attend a concert at the Caverns.

I spent 48 hours in an outdoor camp with 120 6th graders Wednesday through Friday, so when I pulled into the cabin on Friday afternoon, I didn't really care if there was a hole in the floor or a working toilet! I just wanted some peace and quiet! I got it. I loved the space. It was perfect for a solo getaway. The bed was so cozy, the kitchenette was not lacking a thing, there was even complimentary coffee pods and creamer! The host gave me some recommendations for local places which I visited and loved. 10/10 would recommend! And, actually did to my husband who is planning his trip next month!

The cabin was perfect. It was perfectly located right in the middle of all our plans. Plus the screened in porch was a perfect place t start the day with your coffee and the fire pit was a beautiful way to end the day looking at the stars.

My husband and I stayed for the weekend to visit our daughter at Sewanee. The location was surprisingly more convenient than staying at some of the gated communities near-by. It was a short drive on 41 and we were there. The cabin was clean and stocked with snacks and water. The bed was very comfortable and the small area for sitting was nice to have available. The best part of the stay was the porch and large backyard with a firepit. With permission, (from Janet/great host) my daughter invited her field hockey team and their parents for a small Saturday brunch and there was MORE than enough room to accommodate everyone! The screened in porch was the food area and we all enjoyed the backyard and firepit. This was one of the best places we have stayed while visiting the university. We hope to be back soon!
