About this cottage rental
Woodhaven is a private, secluded lakefront cottage located on the relatively undeveloped 75 acre Pickerel Pond (Perley on maps) located in the beautiful lakes region of Denmark Maine. Perfect for couples and small families, you will find a quiet, peaceful, and intimate lake experience surrounded by Maine’s finest natural sights and sounds, augmented by the undeveloped nature of the lake and the privacy of your own sandy beach within feet of your backdoor. Beautiful lake views and sounds of nature abound here.
Woodhaven is a classic 2 story 70’s style A-frame structure designed and constructed in the early 1970’s by my father as a secondary property for our family to enjoy as our adjacent property, Four Seasons, quickly became a popular vacation rental destination. The main features are its large 2 story cathedral ceiling and windows, and cozy seating on the 2nd floor balcony that provide impressive views of the lake. The kitchen is an open concept and features a sunny breakfast nook with built in seating. Easy access to the outdoors and beach from the kitchen and first floor living areas. The sandy beach has a gradual lead in but drops off quickly and has some great underwater diving rocks. The nearby ground level deck has outdoor seating under shaded trees while the upper outdoor deck provides a nice sunning location and seating area to enjoy your morning coffee, lunch, or evening beverage.
Sleeping quarters include 3 private bedrooms- a master bedroom on first floor with adjoining bathroom and 2 private bedrooms on the 2nd floor.
My family has been enjoying and renting this property successfully for over 50 years. Cottage has been continuously improved upon and updated to provide reliable year-round access and has up-to-date mechanicals.
Explore the pristine surrounding lakefront and all of its aquatic wildlife with our small rowboat (included with rental). Great freshwater fishing is right at your fingertips. Pickerel Pond is well known for its abundancy of largemouth bass, pickerel, perch, and sunfish.
Shopping and dining available in nearby Bridgeton (11 miles). Close to North Conway (less than 30 miles). Close to downtown Portland (approximately 30 miles).
PLEASE NOTE: Linen service is NOT INCLUDED with our standard rental but is available for an additional fee. Linen fees are as follows: $200/ week up to 4 guests. Each additional guest $50/week. Please contact owner if interested in this service when booking.
ADDITIONAL NOTE: Summer weekly rentals are Saturday to Saturday.
Additional availability: Our adjacent cottage, Four Seasons, may also have availability, please contact us for additional inquires. See VRBO listing 2675407.

We had a relaxing week at the lake. The cottage was beautiful and had amazing views and just a few steps to the water. Perfect for a family vacation and we definitely will come back!

This is an excellent house/camp on one of the smaller, very swimmable ponds. No jet skis, no motor boats, just a very few kayaks. Brought a pal for the first few days, then stayed solo for the rest of the week. It’s very quiet, and at night, it is wonderfully dark. I heard (but did not see) Common Loons. The pond is a bit small for them. There were at least 4 nearby at Walden/Sand Pond. Barred Owls were in the trees every night, abundant various warblers and BCChickadees filled the trees/shrubs in the mornings. One Belted Kingfisher spent long periods on a branch right at the lower deck. If you leave the many screened windows open, you’ll hear nature at night. I was able to rent a kayak for the week, which was awesome to have handy at water’s edge and to accompany a pal who swam the full perimeter of the pond (about 1-25 miles). Loved the outdoor seating area, where I/we spent most of our time from the sunrises around 5:30 to the sunsets around 7:30. If you opt to bring linens/towels, be sure to bring blankets. This camp is ideal for a single, a couple, 2 or three adult friends who like to read, build puzzles, play cards, or a small family that likes the be in the water. Note that while the house is not at all rustic, it lacks the bells and whistles of some of the newer houses on the larger ponds (i.e., dishwasher, W/D, chef’s kitchen, extended dock). It was just perfect for me this trip. My only wished-for amenity was an outdoor shower—the pond more than made up for that!

Our family had a wonderful time at this home in Denmark. The kids enjoyed swimming and exploring the pond. This place was peaceful and quiet - the perfect alternative to renting on one of the bigger, crowded lakes.

We had a wonderful vacation on the lake. The house was clean and comfortable. Derek was responsive and very easy to communicate with. We took day trips to Windham & North Conway and went into Bridgton for some ice cream. The lake was so calm and peaceful. You could go days without seeing or hearing anyone. It was a great family vacation.

The property was so nice and relaxing, just what we were looking for! My husband and son loved the fishing, we all loved the dock and the swimming. We brought paddle boards and was able to enjoy just being out on the quiet, calm water away from everyone. We were close enough to spend a day at the White Mountains hiking, and another day in Portland shopping, and eating. This cabin is the perfect place to go if you want to relax, and enjoy time with your loved ones. We can't wait to go back! Thank you!

I stayed at this property with my husband and five year old daughter and we had the most wonderful stay. The accommodations are both cozy and beautiful. Lots of cool architectural features and ample windows which really bring the outside in. My husband enjoyed using the row boat and went fishing at sunrise each morning and found success catching some bass. My daughter would have stayed in the water the entire week and nearly did! The water was beautiful, clean, and not too cold. She especially loved swimming out to the raft. There are also two great seating areas outside where I particularly enjoyed relaxing with a book and enjoying the view.
Derek was very responsive to any questions we had and check in and out was very smooth and easy.
This cottage feels out of time and we passed a week quickly by. The cute town of Bridgton is only 15 minutes away for anything you may have forgotten from home but we barely ventured off the property, not wanting to leave our little lake house bubble.
We hope to stay again and I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a cozy retreat!

My family of 3 stayed here for a week and it was magical. Our toddler spent most of his time playing in the water (the pond is not mucky but has beautiful sand so you don't even need water shoes) and loved going in the row boat for a few rides around the pond. It really is a perfect place to stay if you have children. The property is so peaceful and quiet; we really enjoyed being surrounded by nature. We especially loved seeing/hearing a loon the first night we stayed. The kitchen has everything you need to cook meals, and we also loved eating at the little dining nook together. We barely ever wanted to leave the property, but we went into Bridgton a few times for coffee/lunch/ice cream, and Naples as well (both beautiful little towns about 15 mins away). Derek was always very helpful and available via text. We loved this place so much and hope to return!

This amazing A-frame with charming personality sits on a quiet lake. The views are unparalleled - the sun rising over the trees, the mist rising off the waters on a cool morning, and a reliable dose of local wildlife complete an idyllic setting.
For the kids, an afternoon of fun climbing and jumping off the dock is just the thing for a peaceful night. The lake has plenty to offer the avid fishing or kayaking enthusiast as well - these clear calm waters offer many little inlets to paddle about.
The house itself has all the comforts of a modern home, and all the uniquely rustic charm of a Maine camp. Do you have a book you've been looking forward to reading? Make sure you bring it to enjoy in the swinging egg chair. The outdoor seating options are equally delightful - a lovely couch in the sun to watch the lake (keep an eye out for the occasional eagle!) Or, a lovely post-modern set of chairs tucked in the shade to enjoy a glass of tea. The grounds are dappled with native berry clusters, ferns, flowers, and pines.
Whether you're looking for a quiet place to relax and rejuvenate, or a good jumping point for some serious hiking or biking, this property has it all. The owner, Derek, is prompt, communicative, and helpful. A fabulous stay I'd recommend to anyone.

The cabin is great and location is very private. Very quiet, located on a beautiful pond. The location is very convenient and somewhat close to many attractions in the area.
One thing to note - throughout the stay trash needs to be disposed at the town station, and directions to the address might be confusing since Google maps and Apple Maps point to completely different locations and both are wrong :). To get to the trash collection - turn right when exiting the driveway and drive 2.4 miles, the station is on the left.

Best vacation in a long time.
Beautiful cabin with beach. Very private. Great place to get away from it all but yet close to area villages for some great Maine food and close enough to the coast to take in the sites. Great fishing. Would recommend it to anyone.

Cute cabin great location
This property is as advertised: on the rustic side but clean and comfortable. The pond is so serene - it was a joy to wake up to and enjoy while sipping my coffee. There are fans in all rooms which kept things comfortable in the evenings.

Family getaway
This was our first family trip with our daughter and we had a great time. The beach area allowed our 18month old to explore the water and experience a maine camp without the rocky entry. We are from maine and believe that a cabin on a lake that has this little development is rare for the more accessible parts of the state. It was very quite and provided a sense of vacation even though we were 1.5 hours from home. The cabin was clean and comfortable. This is a great place to bring a family and was a surprisingly great bass fishery as well. With countless fish taken in the 2-4.5lb range on poppers on the fly rod. Thanks again Frank.

Quiet property for quality family time
We loved that we could walk out our door right into the lake. Beautiful views. It’s the first time our family has ever had a lake to ourselves. The neighboring town, Bridgton, has an amazing park with free obstacle courses that the kids visited multiple times. Hiking and state parks are close with the White Mountains. Finally, the owner, Frank was great with communication.

Frank was a great host and was helpful in suggesting hiking trails in the area. The house had the perfect amount of space and natural beauty all around. Would love to come and stay again.

Quiet Respite
After many long months of overtime as an essential worker, Woodhaven offered the respite I needed from the stress of my job. I rowed out to a secluded cove each morning to sip coffee, read a book and relax to the sound of geese, ducks and the very distinctive Loon! The quiet of the lake was restorative, and the view tranquil. WIFI is excellent and Frank and Shirley are delightful hosts. Woodhaven was exactly as I had hoped it would be!

Wonderful home on beautiful isolated pond.
We really enjoyed our stay at Woodhaven. The cabin is delightful with amazing views of the pond. We were working remotely, but it really felt like we were on vacation for two weeks. We went for walks, bike rides, and I swam in the pond everyday. The water was very warm! There was even a loon that was often on the pond in the afternoon/evening and whose cries we could hear regularly.
Frank was a wonderful host, he lives nearby and helped us out with everything we asked for.
We are hoping to go back next year!

Perfect, peaceful trip away from city life.
This is such a wonderful cabin! We met the owner (who lives nearby if you have problems or questions) and he was very friendly and helpful. The cabin itself is lovely, clean and spacious. There were only two of us, but I can see how it will easily accommodate more people. We cooked there and ate either in the cute breakfast nook or at the picnic table, and made use of the BBQ outside. We also spent a lot of time swimming or in the rowboat. It was a ton of fun, and the floating dock is a nice addition.
There is another cabin next door, but you won't see the neighbors unless you happen to be on the water at the same time. It was so peaceful and quiet, exactly what we needed to get away from city life. Thank you so much for having us!

Our favorite summer!
For over forty years we and our family have enjoyed our stays at Woodhaven and Four Seasons. The privacy and quiet of Pickerel Pond is unique, yet adequate shopping and entertainment is near. The facilities are well maintained and periodically improved. We now journey from Florida to be here and wouldn't miss it!
