We stayed for six nights and had a wonderful time. Property is across the street from Old Town and a five minute walk to the light rail and Amtrak stop, making it very convenient.
We had six people in our group and had plenty of room. Could have had eight comfortably.
The property was clean, charming and roomy. liewatwr was a pleasure to deal with and kept us informed of everything we needed to know we will assuredly stay here again.

Our family had a great stay at your charming historical home in the heart of Old Town. The house was clean, beds were comfortable and the private backyard with hot tub was amazing! Loved how we could walk to many shops and restaurants and the ease of getting anywhere in San Diego with the convenient freeway access.
5.0
The location of this historic property makes it easy to get to Old Town or access the transit system. The walk to the house from the transit center is easy.
When we checked into the house we found no sheets on the sofa bed in the living room. As it was late at night we weren't able to get sheets until the next day, so our we had to make due with a duvet cover, blanket, and duvet. The bed itself is a horrible sofa bed mattress, so don't expect a night of sound sleep.
The kitchen is sparsely stocked. Other vacation rentals usually have the basics of foil, cooking spray, etc. There are plenty of utensils, basic pots and cooking sheets, and pans. There was no dishwasher detergent to be found, so we also had to call on that.
The bedrooms throughout the house all had comfortable beds and linens.
The en-suite's bathroom tub/shower is a step down tub, and could be inaccessible to some people. It took one very large step to get in and out of the tub/shower. That should be mentioned in the property description.
The keyed entry is on the side of the house, which requires opening a electronic gate via a key pad near the front door. On the way out you have to use a garage style gate opener to open the gate and exit out to the street. No easy front door access.
The backyard is lovely.
Communication with the staff is easy and responses are quick via email & text
For the amount of money we spent each night, the issues we faced left me feeling disappointed.

This place is so cute, very comfortable. The patio was great and the hot tub. Everything was clean except the master bathroom had hair in the tub and on the floor. They also equipped with towels, spa towels, toilet paper, soap, hand soap which was amazing for our long weekend.

Great location, beautiful home, easy to communicate with management. Two things to note, the garage gate keypad was a little difficult to find, and the driveway is pretty narrow, but there is a spot to park outside the gate.

Property was great! Very easy check in and communication with agent, house was clean and everything was in working order, including the hot tub!
Beds were all comfortable and everyone slept great.
Location is perfect for Old Town - one block down is the main street so everything is in walking distance, and you are about 15 minutes from The Gaslamp District, airport, and Marine Training Center. Would definitely stay again!
This is a registered historic home with original items like tiles, fixtures and locks. Lots of character and it was great for us ladies! If you are looking for a modern, sleek, brand new type of home this would not be for you.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the property. Quaint historical home with excellent upkeep. Enjoyed relaxing in the quiet backyard with hot tub. Just a short walking distance to Old Town… lots of shopping and restaurants close by. Loved our stay!

Family stayed here for 10 days. Fun home with everything you need for cooking and towels. Great help from management. We enjoyed walking around old town and restaurants and used the MTV near us. Trip to zoo, harbor cruise USS Midway and more.
I do recommend this property.

Good location for Zoo and Balboa Park. Nice Mexican restaurants within walking distance.

From the outside, the home appears fabulous. However, it is an old historic home that smells a bit like a nursing home when walking in. Didn't have power for the first night, door handles fell off, ice maker stopped working, some power outlets don't work, etc. Worker for the home stated that the meter was shut off insiuating to us that the electricity bill hadn't been paid. Management called us close to midnight the first night stating that they could move us to another home, but I would have to evacuate the entire family in the middle of the night. Miraculously, power came back on when the electric company opened the next morning 🙄 really?? Management then tried to lie and stated that it was due to a car accident. However, all of the other homes around us had power, imagine that. Never received a call or voicemail from Management upon departure to try and correct the situation. Oh well, lesson learned.....just wanted to warn future occupants

Beautiful house in historic district. Walking distance to Old Town with restaurants, shops, and transportation. Many eating and outdoor visiting options for everyone to be comfortable.

This was the best managed, most perfectly stocked, clean and comfortable rental we’ve stayed in for some time. Great location.

The home was clean and well kept. We were able to adjust the temperature to our needs which was nice as it was cooler weather. The staff was available to assist with just a text. The location was within easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. We loved it.

We enjoyed the location very much-a half block to Old Town but not noisy and a short walk to Presidio Park. Rooms were comfortable and house had everything we needed. This will be our go-to place in San Diego.

This beautiful property was perfect for my son’s USMC graduation! It was spacious enough for everyone to feel like they had enough privacy and room to be comfortable. We also loved the historic aspect of the home and surrounding area. Communication with the property manager couldn’t have been better! I highly recommend staying here.

This lovely house had so much character! Everything was very clean and the furnishings were so comfortable. We loved the spacious courtyard and the hot tub too. It was walking distance from all the great restaurants in Old Town San Diego, so every day I was able to get my fix of roasted corn and flan at Coyote Cafe. Such a great stay!

Stayed here for a week and a half with my wife and daughter. We’ve got friends in OB and PB so being in Old Town was a perfect spot. You can pretty much get anywhere you want in under 15-20 minutes - downtown, Coronado, Del Mar, La Jolla. And you can literally walk 30 steps to Old Town and grab lunch, dinner, a drink.
The house itself is an adorable Spanish style home. Very neat and clean. Even though we didn’t up using it, the back yard is perfect for hanging out with friends. Would definitely recommend this property to others.

This charming house was perfect for our family to gather at. The location is steps from Old Town and easy access to the freeway. The home is clean and very quiet.
We had a lovely stay.

One of the best vacation rental experiences I've had. Great communication from the property manager, very clean house, and there was even a welcome gift bag with snacks and a bag of coffee from a local roaster. The check out procedures were very reasonable too which is always a plus.
My only complaints: the pillows were all far too thick and firm/springy so that affected my sleep a bit (but the linens were top notch!). Also, the house is very well furnished but there isn't really a relaxing space in the common areas to enjoy as a group. The living room is a little formal and the outside area is great but an outdoor sofa or more comfortable chairs would take it to another level. But I wouldn't consider either of these deal breakers.
If you're looking for a place near Old Town, this is it! A block from the action but still quiet enough to enjoy some peace from the crowds.

Place was everything I needed and then some. Love how central it was to everything.

Pros: Check in and check out was easy, nice binder w house instructions. Location was convenient. House clean/cute. Backyard was great. Came with a cute bag with coffee/snacks.
Minor cons: Living room couches could use more sitting room/comfier couches.

We arrived for a family member's Marine graduation. We were all pleasantly surprised by the space and location of the home. Was exactly what we needed for our time in San Diego! The location is AMAZING! We walked to Old Town every night and enjoyed all of the little stores and restaurants.
The only complaints about the house were the back patio not being swept of debris and the awkward bath/shower in the master bedroom. (Was difficult to get in and out of safely) These items were minor and still get this house a 5-Star Review! We would definitely book again if ever back in the area. Thank you for all the hospitality.

Such a pleasure to visit San Diego and have a beautiful place to call "home". Property had everything needed to relax: comfortable beds, nicely equipped kitchen, hot tub, and the proximity to restaurants, shopping, and the fun Ghost Tours!

Awesome property! Great location. Everyone enjoyed their time. Would love to come again sometime.

Stayed here because it was close to the base for our sons Marine graduation. The house is walking distance to shops and restaurants. It’s very comfortable and you the management company is amazing to work with. Any concerns are taken care of immediately. Highly recommend this home or any Bluewater property.

We loved our time at this house. It was immaculate and everything that was advertised. Old town is just steps away where we enjoyed delicious restaurants and fun activities. Beds comfortable and kitchen great for cooking.
5.0
We could walk into old town with the restaurants, shops and a really cool wine and cigar bar. Even walked to a ghost tour! Well appointed home, washer and dryer were not operable but the property manager arranged a full service laundry if we wanted to take advantage of that. Internet went down, too but they were on top of it. Beds we’re comfortable and property was sparkling clean. Backyard and spa were amazing. Only weird thing was the master bathroom set up with the deep tub/shower combo. Just have to be very careful getting in and out. Great stay and I’ve been staying in VRBOs for 20+ years. We thought this was the best one we’ve ever stayed in anywhere!!! Would totally book again in a heartbeat.

Highly recommend the property. Communication from Blue Water Vacations was excellent. We really felt they were interested in us having a good time, concerned that our needs were met.
Will use Blue Water in the future!!

Lovely old but meticulously renovated and cared for home right on the edge of Old Town. We walked two blocks, caught the trolly and took a two hour tour of the high interest spots. Lots of restaurants and interesting shops. We enjoyed the amenities of the home as well. The Lovely back courtyard with hot tub and barbecue was well used.

Having stayed in a lot of places over the years, you sometimes wonder how a photographer could possibly have made a place look so good in the photos.
Casa de Mariposa is a rare exception - it is actually better in person than the photos convey!
The location is sensational - you turn left out of the front gate, walk down a gentle incline for about 200m (600ft) and you are right in the middle of the Old Town market and restaurant area.
It feels completely safe, no matter what time of the day or night you venture out.
Want to go into San Diego downtown for a day? Keep walking for another 600m (2000ft) and you're at the Light Rail station.
The house itself is every bit as good as the photos and then some. It is beautifully maintained and spotlessly clean. You feel as though you belong right from the moment you walk in the door.
Beds are comfortable, hot water is plentiful and the kitchen is very well stocked with pots, pans, crockery etc.
This review could go on for pages, but the summary is this - if you want to stay in San Diego Old Town, do yourself a favour and book the Casa de Mariposa - you will have the vacation of your life!

This was a great spot for being close to downtown and Coronado. Some fun Altas Obscura sites near by also. Managing company was timely and very helpful.

Great location to shops, restaurants, hiking trail and freeway. Love the outdoor patio area...only wish the quiet hours were not so strict.

My husband, son (5 yo), my mother, my sister and I stayed 6 nights at this property and it was fantastic. Prior to arrival, the management company contacted us via email and text to make sure we had everything we needed for check in. The instructions were easy to follow and we had no issues getting into the house. The house itself is a beautifully restored historic house right next to San Diego’s historic old town. Plenty to do for all ages. My son visited the blacksmith shop three times during our stay.
With three bedrooms and a pull out sofa there were plenty of beds and rooms for us to spread out. The kitchen is well stocked with the essentials for meal prep and there are two dining areas right off the main kitchen. The backyard is great for outdoor dining and my one regret was that we didn’t have a chance to use the fireplace or the hot tub during our stay. We visited balboa park, the uss midway and the safari park during our stay and this location was central to everything. We even slipped in a date night in old town since it was so easy to walk across the street for drinks.
We had one minor issue with the bed in the master bedroom but the property management sent someone over promptly and took care of it.
Would 100% rent this property again for another stay. So much better than a hotel in downtown or bungalow on the beach for our purposes.
