About this house rental

Tortuga is the perfect house in many ways. It has an incredible view of both the ocean and the sound. The house is high and the breeze is wonderful. We like to cook and it's well stocked for cooking . It's a great house for families or couples because each bedroom, excluding the bunkroom, has a private bathroom within the bedroom. Tortuga's décor is a tribal boho beach theme. There is always something interesting to look at. It's perfect for a great cup of coffee on a rainy day or a great glass of wine. The furnishings are beautiful but comfortable including the beds. We love repeat guests.

Top Floor- Full kitchen, Living Area, half bathroom and Queen bedroom with on suite full bathroom with jetted tub

Middle floor- 3 Bedrooms (1 Queen, 2 Kings) with on suite full bathrooms, Laundry room with full sized washer and dryer. Top floor queen bedroom and all middle floor bedrooms have private baths attached to them.

Bottom Floor- 1 Bedroom with Full sized bunk beds, half bathroom, game room with pool table, extra refrigerator. Poker table, also "Kid's Cave" with Wii gaming system. Hot tub on back deck over looking the fenced pool patio area.

Pool area has covered shaded area for lunch and sun bathing areas along with an outdoor shower. Street level storage room has umbrellas, beach chairs, coolers, beach cart, boogie boards, and beach toys.

Each level has front and back decks.

Pier Pass included--Free access to fish and walk the Rodanthe Pier

Rented with local company in OBX for 7 years, now booking ourselves with VRBO starting with the 2022 season, thus no reviews listed in VRBO.

The listing photos do not do the property justice. It’s really clean and well decorated on the inside. The location of the house to the beach is way closer than it looks. We had a total of 3 families with four little girls in total. The children loved the small play room and the pool was perfect for them. It was also really nice that all the master bedrooms had their own bathrooms. A must with three families! The propane grill was also a plus, most places just have charcoal or no grill at all. Steak night was a good night! The views from the upper decks were simply stunning and made for a relaxing getaway and wonderful photos. Laura reached out to ask how the house was after we checked in and gave us wonderful recommendations for food and things to do. She also sent over a delicious pan of cinnamon rolls for breakfast which was a nice surprise. This was our first time visiting outer banks and we hope to come back soon.

Our family a week at Tortuga July 2024 and it was simply wonderful. 3 adult couples plus a 10 mth. As I said to Laura the house is ‘bigger’ and better appointed than shown in the photos. The only gotya would be the number of steps to the living floor; my wife counted 44. So that might affect some potential renters.

This house is amazing!! Has everything you need for your stay. The owners are very kind and left cinnamon rolls for us one morning. Beach is less than a minute walk away. If your looking for a great vacation home look no further.

The pictures truly do not describe the greatness of this house. Tortuga has incredible views all over the house. The ocean feels like a stone throw away (it's really closer than the pictures show). The interior is immaculate with so many thoughtful touches. The kids loved the game room & pool! The kitchen has everything you could possibly need. The gas grill made for quick, hot, lunches in between trips to the beach. The utility room was full of beach toys, pool items and beach gear. The pier passes made me feel less bad for not catching any fish. The owners even dropped off a fantastic treat one morning and checked in with us to make sure all was well. My entire family would love the opportunity to stay here again! It was our best experience renting in our 10+ years at the OBX!

Laura and her family were fantastic. The house was well equipped with all necessities and the layout was great for everyone having their own space. We loved the cinnamon buns that were left for us the first morning too! There were a few issues with the pool and hot tub that Laura took care of right away! We would definitely stay there again!

We had a wonderful time as a larger family group reconnecting and making memories together at this beautiful spacious beach home! There was so much space for our group, there were plenty of supplies including tons of beach toys/beach supplies. It was a super quick walk to the beach and the private pool was perfect for our younger kids to gain swimming confidence! We loved the decor in the home and the views from every deck/balcony is really what made this home the most spectacular!! Highly recommend this place for your group!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Tortuga. The home was clean and well furnished. The location is good; we loved the short distance to the beach. The kitchen was adequately stocked, and we loved playing pool in the game room. We appreciated the owners touching base to make sure everything was in order when we arrived, and they even left a sweet treat for our family’s arrival. Overall it was a wonderful experience!

The house was beautiful as the pictures...the ocean was a quick minute walk and communication with Laura was great...very attentive and had muffins delivered which was nice surprise...I will definitely stay again...

If you’re thinking about booking, do it! You won’t regret booking this house. House location is very close to the beach, about a two minute walk and you have access to the pier to fish/walk. There are endless activities in this area, jet skiing, kayaking, hiking etc. 20-30 min drive down the island and there are great day spots on the sound. House itself has a very well equipped kitchen. My family really enjoyed the closeness to the beach and all the chairs/beach toys that were provided. The pool was also great fun for the kids and to just cool off in. Lots of great memories, thank you!

Property has a great location! Very close to beach and pier. Setup of house was a little choppy, felt like we needed walkie talkies to find each other in the house! Lol Relatively clean/up to date. Pool was smaller than we thought but the kids loved it just the same! Owners pleasant and quick with communications. Overall great stay !

Our children and their families are all spread out, so getting them all together at just the right spot is a task! This house was perfect for our needs. Everyone had space, and the walk to the beach is maybe a minute at most. It was close enough that we could go back and forth between the house and the beach as needed without worrying about leaving our chairs, etc. All the appliances and kitchen items we needed were supplied, and the owners were available with immediate responses for any question we had. There is a small private pool, which was perfect for when we needed a break from the beach, especially for our grandchildren! Thanks so much Brian, Laura and Gabriel!

This is a wonderful house in a wonderful location. The owners are great and ensure that your experience is perfect. The house is well stocked and very clean. The beach is within a very short walking distance and there are several great local restaurants near by. We will be returning to this property in the future!

Beautiful accommodations. House was perfect for a large family and really close to the beach. The only downside is the house is not handicap friendly. But, if you're healthy and able to climb steps go and have an amazing time.

We had such a great time at this beautiful home! The location was amazing! The kids loved to be able to go to the beach and then come back, rinse off, and swim in the pool! The tray of warm baked goods delivered the next morning after we arrived was so thoughtful and kind. It had everything we needed for a large family. There was 12 of us so it worked out well! The kids loved having the game room and we had a couple of pool table challenges between the kids and adults. We would definitely stay here again! Thank you!!

Our family really enjoyed this home, the location was perfect for us, nice and quiet and the beach not crowded. The owners left us a fantastic welcome basket of delicious baked goods and also called to check in and gave us some great restaurant recommendations. This property is amazing! The bedrooms are spacious with lots of bathrooms! It is right on the beach! You can see the ocean from either sides of the decks! It was clean and the kitchen is well stocked with cooking appliances! The kids and adults had a blast in the pool. There were a ton of movies/DVDs for the rainy day and board games! The pool table and card table were fun too! Excellent place to stay for family and friends!

Our family took our annual OBX trip and stayed at the Tortuga. The house is large with four flights of stairs. We were a minute walk to the beach and pier. The pool is small, but large enough to cool off. Our one small issue with an appliance was addressed and repaired immediately. The house was extremely clean. We really enjoyed our stay.

Tortuga was a tough choice because I wasn't sure what to really expect because it had no reviews. However, the owners were very open and I was able to review one of their other properties that had an ample number of good to excellent reviews. This property did not fall short of any of my hopes and expectations. The views are absolutely stunning, the property is comfy and cozy, yet so many options and spaces to spread out and enjoy the amenities. They have a little something for every age group, from the game room, pool table for the young adults, to the video game, board games and box of toys for the little ones. I am thankful for the owners who were very open, inviting and our first morning we were greeted with fresh baked goods, a delicious surprise. I cant say enough about how beautiful the (almost 360) views were. My family enjoyed the magnificent sunsets that Rodanthe is apparently notorious for. My pick for this year's annual family tradition was an epic WIN! We usually find a new destination every year but I am pondering an excuse to get back to Tortuga! Laura and Family, Thank you for the experience and your gracious hospitality!
